Amazing photo, fuckin love that casual glare at the landing not even looking at his board

For a while I thought he'd take the p-rod route of only progressing with already familiar territory but lately he's been consistently doing unexpected shit on top of all that.

Luan never did anything memorable in any famous spot. Shane did it a lot on many big spots.

Speaking of luan, has he ever even had a cover? Can't think of anything. Pretty crazy that he's pretty much top 5 most talented skater right now and I can't think of a single ground breaking trick from him

That is so insane.  His name isn't the first that comes to some people's mind but he skates fast as shit, especially  down gaps.

There is a line in Shane goes SkateMental where he does a 360 shuv hauling  ass then takes 4 pushes to nollie fs flip.   It is reckless AF

I was thinking of the exact thing when reading the top part of this comment. Dude is so good and in control it doesn't even seem like he goes that fast but reality is this dude skates fast as fuck towards some of the gnarliest gaps . It'd be cool to see a full part of just big ass gaps and rails from him.

I'm rooting for Shane for SOTY. He's done so much over his career, put out more video parts than most pros will ever have, destroyed the technical skate game and manages to huck himself down huge gaps, has a great positive attitude and definitely gives back to the skate community when he can.

He deserves whether its this year, next or in the next 10.

But it still doesn't make me want to buy a Primitive board...

Shane has my vote, as of right now. Remember when he nollie back heel'd wallenburg for the first trick in his part? Bonkers. I'm sure there will be a onslaught of video parts coming out by years end that might possibly change my mind, i think Clive's part in the Birhouse video will definitely surprise some people. I mean, he fuckin crook'd staples center  Shocked

My buddy (Nike rep) was there and swears there was no tow-in.   Homeboy tried it but didn't work, and then just hauled ass pushing switch.  Everyone was like wtf.

That's just silly.  I don't even think we've seen Shane's magnum opus yet either, which is crazy to think of.

He's like Daewon or Koston. There won't be a magnum opus, just a bunch of legendary parts.

Was Atiba taken on by Thrasher as strictly a staff photographer, or does he hold some kind of administration position?

As for this year's SOTY, I can't think of anyone more deserving than Louie Lopez, but I'm still expecting Daan, Grant or Ishod to win in the next two years.

If Jackson Pilz were to come out with a part and cover id say he'd be my top choice. His KOTR performance was one of the best things I've ever seen.

I feel the same way. Although, Shane is probably the most tech right now, like Koston and Daewon were.

I really want to believe this, but I don't see how its physically possible.
Then again...neither is switch kick back nose blunt on a rail, and he did that with his eyes closed.

It's funny to think back to that Berrics part that they tried to sell and how much they hyped it up when he's since put out way better stuff. He's in a league of his own and continues to get better.

What the hell?

Also his face looks so calm it almost looks like it was photoshopped on afterwards.
But for real, absolutely sick trick and very very good photo.

Saw on his gram that he has a part coming at the end of the month, so I'm assuming this is in it. Was the last shit he had the Primitive welcome part? I hope its not set to Beach House music again or I'm gonna end it.

Doesn't Shane have a new part dropping soon? Can't wait to see it, the shit he is capable of is absolutely unreal. He can literally step to any sort of thing and get a legit trick if he wanted.
he'll probably put something out last minute right before the soty decision is made. i'm sure there's just going to be a huge wave of insane video parts coming out back to back in the next few months.

this cover is great.

Which leads to the question of, who's current front runner? It's August and no-one is sticking out to me this year like years gone by.

Is everyone just adopting a Kyle Walker strategy in 2017?...
My guesses right now would be Louie Lopez (pro favorite last year, Spitfire part + Tampa Pro win, all he needs is something substantial later in the year to seal the deal), Grant Taylor (seems like he's been everywhere this year), or Tyshawn Jones (I've heard rumors of shit he's done for the new Supreme video that's out of this world, if it drops by the year's end he could easily win).
i agree on the louie guess for sure. he put out that part and won tampa pro like you said but, other than that he really hasn't done much else this year that i can think of? he's definitely a contender at this point already. i suspect that he's been purposefully not getting much coverage throughout this year in order to to put every thing together last minute and make the best part that he can. i'm sure that the other dudes are doing the same thing and that's why we don't really have any legit picks for this year yet because everyone wants to come in last minute. we will see soon enough. the kyle walker strategy is kinda cheap to me honestly but, it did work. if evan smith's element part had come out after the last vans video, i honestly think that he would have won. i honestly picked evan to win and wish he did but kyle walker came in literally days before the voting with an insanely heavy part so it was the freshest thing in people's heads.
