Berra is delusional, the whole "how dare DC cut Mikey Taylor, don't you know he has a _family_ to feed?", is such horseshit. Mikey Taylor is a legit multimillionaire after selling his stake in St. Archer. There are actual people who live paycheck to paycheck and Mikey Taylor could give himself a perfectly respectable salary of like 70k for 50 years even without doing a single worthwhile thing with that huge chunk of money.

His 'woe is me' attitude is so wack, but I attribute it to his hyper-awareness of self branding these days. I do like his insights in the industry, and he raised valid points.

That "Don't Ever Stop Jumping Fences" is so gay.
i never understood how yellow flat bars was any different than la school picnictables n shit nobody gave daewon shit with all his crazy made up picnic table spots in warehouses but i guess its how he tried to get one over on us like we wouldnt notice so i get it, classic berra move. maybe it was because it killed like 45min out of this 14hour car ride i was on but i actually really enjoyed reading this, definitely wasnt the jenkem berra interview i was expecting but some really good stuff in there

A lot of the socal picnic table love is nostalgia. I know growing up as a kid who skated in Chicago much of the time, that I always hated that schoolyard crap and specifically preferred east coast and SF skate videos because they skated beautiful spots, unique architecture, granite ledges in plazas, instead of the boring fiberglass picnic tables that were put into place in identical looking schoolyards. Aesthetically, it was AWFUL- repetitive, bland, and a lot less "street" than the shit you'd see in other videos, and the fact that they moved benches around to be in just the right spots seemed cheap to me. There was a huge amount of people who hated LA footage because it was either in another boring schoolyard or on "an overwaxed ledge."
These days I love rewatching trilogy, but Welcome to Hell came out that year too, and I loved it so much more for all of the reasons I listed above

you corny
Nice affectation, dork. You just going to follow me around and comment on everything I say? You likely weren't around during that era and brought nothing new to the conversation, so sit the fuck down, son.
Are you new to the board and posting a bunch or something? Because I've never even interacted with you as far as I know.

I must have missed the unique architecture era of skating.   I got into skating when doing tricks down Escher-esque infinity staircases was all the rage.

Sorry you don't remember me, it must be hard to distinguish amongst all the different posters on here that think you're a self-important doofus.  You were missed last week, but one day back and you've shown how exhausting and unnecessary you've become.

Now comes your spittle flecked response where you weakly come back, but mask you're shitty defense by accusing me of being a Trump supporter or one of your other tired moves.

whole stuff about his kids because of the yellow flat bars is so fucked up
I really wish somebody would stand up for him and say "yeh that's fucked, don't talk about his family..."

See the whole thing about that is you're taking Berra's word as to what happened. My understanding is that someone once on Slap said he was going to rape Berra's daughter, which I will never excuse such a statement. But that was one person who said something super offensive on a message board a super long time ago, and I'm sure didn't even have anything to do with the flatbars. But Berra makes it seem as though there was a Slap thread called "Let's Actually Rape Berra's Daughter Because He Skated His Own Flatbars" and every single person on this message board thought it was a good idea.

That's what he does, I've been in countless arguments with the turd, and he loves to twist facts and put words in other people's mouths and extrapolate other's people's points to tell them what they actually meant.

Regarding the DC thing, do you think he would have said anything or nobly stood up for poor Chris Cole and Mikey Taylor's families, and poor Brazilian Felipe if DC hadn't dropped their entire monetary support of The Berrics? Doubtful.

Homie's acting like he didn't axe the Skullcandy team and replaced them with his friends. At least DC had the balls to tell Mikey he was out.

Maybe they didn't fit the marketing plan moving forward...oh wait

suspiciously high amount of nautical references. Probably a pretty good indication of how deep Berra is into Scientology. They love sea shit since L Ron stole a boat and lived at sea to evade authorities for a long time with a crew of overworked teenagers. What a weird fucking cult.

I thought this was a very good interview. the part that really interested me the most is the whole DC dropping Mikey and Cole. Its pretty fucking wack that they drop them and think they can have the image of FA and other brands like that. Now DC is doing the whole 90s nostalgia clothing style. Its wack personally and dropping Mikey and Cole 2 of the biggest pros is dumb.

- he had a good backside flip
- he was good at vert
- the berrics was a good idea. now it's pretty meh.
- he should have Chase address the sexual assault. Not publicly but to the victim. Maybe he already has.
- Scientology uses slave labor to pimp out celebrity's vehicles. They admonish prove mental health treatments. They are morally reprehensible  in many other ways.
- Talking shit about someone's kids is pretty stupid and just gives him more material for his victimization narrative.
- He's self obsessed.
- The Olympics will solve nothing. ISF will rip off the athletes, just watch.

You're really going to believe the words of a Scientologist? He worded it so he sounded rational, but it's just a quick jab at Dill/AVE/Dylan/Terpening for getting Berra booted from Workshop. The guys at DC probably want more dudes killing it in the streets instead of at contests. If Mikey and Cole are two of the biggest pros, they shouldn't have any issues getting shoe sponsors, right? Also, do you think Berra would rant about DC getting rid of those guys, if they were still sponsoring The Berrics?

This quote really got to me and I realize it is true.

There's no way DC is trying to be FA, I feel like Borra only said that because it's a new hip company run by someone that always "bullied" him.

Seriously, watch the new DC promo and then anything FA has put out. If you think there's any similarities other than it's skateboarding and maybe t funk's pants well you're just wrong.

Cole and Mikey are certainly on the tail end of their careers and with Nyjah leaving for greener pastures the street league image was no longer gonna be as effective.

Two kids excited to tell the one and only Steve Borra that they want to start their own skateboard brand

Borra tells them "It'll never happen"

Two kids are now heartbroken and lost hope of their goals in life.

What a guy.  I wonder if he already told his son that santa claus isn't real too.

All joking aside, I do agree with a lot of the stuff he said about where skateboarding is heading, even though it could've been summed up in one paragraph  Roll Eyes

I really wish Berra had started a success movie
career 15 years ago - if he woud be honest
skateboarding was just his vehicle to go to LA.

So we coud just  remember his backside kickflip and his old skatehall.

Berra is the worst example to age as an ex proskateboarder.
