He seemed like a cool guy, lead a pretty crazy life and had a ton of great stories to tell. It's really too bad.
-
rip. his show was great.
-
Bourdain was a G. Years ago he helped me get through get through a terrible heroin addiction. His story was one of inspiration. Safe travels to Parts Unknown.
-
rip. his show was great.
Everything he did was great as far as television and literature. Intelligent respectful man, and well spoken.
Fucking bummer. Actually had to fight back tears as I heard his voice on the news this morning.
-
He was definitely a huge influence on me, and how I approach food culture and travel. His voice will definitely be missed.
-
RIP
A truly unique individual with a great perspective of life.
He had his battles and showed his insecurities/battles openly, showing the balance of good and bad in life.
A great human
Tragic loss

i read kitchen confidential ages ago. cheers to the dude for getting mainstream famous after kicking dope. i didn't watch his show but i was aware of him.
-
his book and shows were very entertaining and educational. this sucks. rip.
-
No. Man, this sucks.
-
My mom and I would bond over his show on the Travel Channel. Really heatbroken by this.
-
I'm super bummed on this. He definitely changed how I think about food and like many people have said, he was super intelligent but without being pretentious.
I hope beyond his like cool guy, asshole persona, he gets remembered for his appreciation of culture and for speaking up about important social issues too. He was really vocal about defending people, cultures, and nations that have been severely impacted and oppressed without being patronizing. He knew he had a voice and used it well in my opinion.
-
damn, one of the few people that was actually a real hero to me, this sucks

I agree with this. I remember seeing his show many, many years ago and always wanted to be like him. Even at 28 I still looked at him as a hero of mine.
r.i.p.

I met him in Edmonton Canada of all places. Chatted over a beer or two and he was really nice. After he left the conversation (which I wish was much longer), the waitress told us dinner and drinks were on him.
Again, in an odd twist, he was with bear Grylls. Another nice guy but holy fuck was he drunk
Anthony bordain is what I wish everyone was like.

tried to re-listen to his maron interview at work and my eyes started watering up.
-
Loved his shows and loved how cool he always looked. I remember thinking about how he seemed to have it all figured out and I looked up to the way he carried himself in all circumstances. His show was not about food anymore, it was about his arc as a character himself, the intro for that SF episode with all the jiujitsu or that other one where he goes to the Borneo jungle for the second time and is forced to kill a pig.
I'm listening to old podcast interviews and damn, his voice.
I respect his decision. But please talk to people, try to reach out, send PMs, say hi.

Anthony bordain is what I wish everyone was like.
wtf
-
Such sad news, his show was fantastic and his contributions to the world were fantastic. He went to all these different places and showed how we were all alike. I love that he was never "too good" for anything and appreciated all cultures. R.I.P.

I meant as a person.
In retrospect that probably looked horrible.
Sincere apologies

Rip to his soul. Makes me feel weird, I don't usually fantasize about people but he had something about him. His energy was something else and how he carried himself around different people is something I always though is how I'd like to be around humans.. Makes me wonder am I heading to the same ending.. Never would have guessed something like this.. This surely gives some.perspective in life even if you have everything on paper it doesn't me shit..

Part of that kinda sums up my comment of "I wish everyone was like him"
The world would be a fuck of alot more interesting and accepting of cultures etc
-
his show was rad and books were sick loved what he did as a chef and as a writer and traveler of many places, I do insist talk to those that need it and and don't shut them out. We all need to realize this..
-
Really devastating loss. Interesting to hear other people talk about how his shows have helped people get through shit. I might still have fucked up eating issues if weren't for episodes of No Reservations to tide me over but more importantly, show how food is something to be celebrated rather than just sustenance.
Super loss for marginalized communities too. I can't imagine anyone else in the biz who had the same empathy/care while approaching other cultures/communities without any trace of exoticizing or "othering". RIP
-
been binging his reruns lately .. forgot how good that show was .. interested in his books .. what do you guys recommend?
-
have you guys watched any mind of a chef? those are pretty good. he narrated that show.
-
never heard of him until now and read a memoir article that mentioned his feelings about vegetarians and vegans. not a fan
-
His show was really good man, one of my favorites. Why couldn't it have been guy fieri.
-
guy fieri is going to live to be like 105 just to make a mockery of modern medical science and also so that he can finally perfect super tangy texas assbutt sauce or something

Everytown in North America has a guy fierri doppleganger. His presence might never die.

I'm in your boat, people are praising him pretty hard and suicide sucks no matter who it is but dude made some pretty ignorant comments
-
Inspiration to be open about different foods and other cultures. Until next time OG.

Have you guys heard this side story to Anthony Bourdain's suicide? It's pretty gossipy and crazy stuff.

I think they stated that they had an open relationship.

At this point it is all conjecture. How great would an interview have been with Anthony on his philosophy and techniques for cunnilingus. I love the level with which he describes culinary endeavors and experiences in general. I feel like if he made an essay or tutorial on how to perform oral sex, the world would be an even better place.
now imagine guy fieri doing that same thing

Always very, very, very tragic when this happens. For those who remain with us here on this earth: Just remember that suicide is not the answer and that there is, in fact, hope.
