Apparently Jake is accused of spitting at a nine year old girl skating the bowl at HOV London as well as other skaters. The next day at southbank and Stockwell park he was heard throwing racial slurs and forced to leave by locals. Details are sketchy but he's also allegedly squared up to young black skaters after his slurs.

I used to defend Phelps because he was cool when I met him, but as time goes on I’ve seen nothing but kooky actions and words spewing from his crooked maw.
Take him down and give that position to someone who will treat it (and those involved; whether directly or indirectly) with some goddamned respect.

The first time I met Jake was in Australia on Salman Agah's SOTY trip. He was cool with us but tried to sell me wheels for more than what shops sold them for at the time. I laughed.
I sincerely believe that he does not discriminate according to people's ethnicity but rather is a derelict old fart who's hit his head once too many times and smoked hubba way too much and lacks a filter in his brain. His perceived position of power in this industry has allowed him to get away with it and the ass kissers have his back.

Sounds very sketchy, however Kingpin magazine has no credibilty these days, nobody goes on their website. I know what you're trying to do Kingpin mag. I wouldn't be surprised if other mags would follow this boycott call, they've been struggling in Europe since Thrasher took their viewers.

I assume then that you are one of those people who believe that what a person can or can't say depends on and is decided by that person's race (a variable beyond a person's control) - sounds real enlightened. Me, I don't think that factors outside of my control should have a bearing on what I can and can't say. A person's skin color should not entitle them to act differently than others, nor prohibit them from enjoying what others enjoy.
I don't use that language because its offensive, period. I don't really care what others do, but it's funny when the argument is essentially "black people can say things that white people can't because history." Here's the thing, so far from what I've heard despite him saying some racist shit and telling an African to go back to Africa he isn't being put on blast for being racist. What I heard went down was he did all that and was accused of being an asshole. They pulled some bullshit up in Oxford MS a couple days before the Parisite thing if this is the right timeline. Trashed Ajax Diner and got racial with staff there. They were supposed to stop in Jackson and skate a backyard bowl, then a Skate Rock gig. Skate Rock crew called up the bowl owner and said "We heard you have a bowl and are cool" and the owner said "Yeah one of those things is true". No one in Jackson wanted anything to do with Thrasher and that says a whole fuckin lot.

I went to a street party there a few years ago and shit was one of the best days of my life. Guys serving rum and juice in cups, nangs galore, mad reggae music, dope food. Things got pretty heated at a couple of points however and the riot squad had to be called in. I think it's been cancelled now because of the security risk and level of mess left behind.

She was not staying in the bowl any longer than necessary. She was dropping in from the deep end of the House of vans bowl (gnarly for an 8 year old kid), and having a run. The skate industry that covered for Tony Trujillo repeatedly punching a woman and lashed out at Slap for publicizing Jason Jessee’s multiple nazi ties was no fan of big brother. They talked way too much shit and by the end no major pro would do interviews with them and they’d advertise some strange stuff not related to skating. They couldn’t really make it and the skateboard industry didn’t want them to.

I think I’ve posted this before, but he offered product to anyone who could kickflip the 6 over the long flat sidewalk to the street on the edge of the park before Tosh, the knome gawd Danny M did it first, walked up to Phelps like “hey I did it” and phelps lit him up. Tensions were high before hand which is why you can hear Jim T and someone else joking about the aggroness of the situation.

Satan Jens lives in rural Denmark and has mellowed out. But from what I hear he still have a lowkey beef with me being in to switch Crooks and Wu-tang. He was a devious fuck but he was also kind of fun in his own madness. I must give Satan Jens that, when choosing to reveal this story on here. What ever - it was the mid nineties and we where kids trying to figure it all out. I was in to smoking weed and tech skate, raw east coast and sf skating. He was in to satan, Neil Heddings and farting in a bottle for people to sniff.

An older friend told me he met Phelps at a local contest in in Germany in the 90s. He talked to him and Jake persuaded him to drive him to a local vert ramp. At the session Jake thanked him by yelling, him snaking people and aggressively hitting on his girlfriend. There are a lot of those stories about him all over the world. He was such an asshole to people that it was even mentioned in his obituary in one of the major German skate mags.

Yes. Plus most of Jake’s paycheck was spread pretty thick between all the babysitters finding him drugs all over the world. He wasn’t living lavish because being a functioning fentanyl addict (dosing every 30 minutes compared to maybe a few hours when real heroin bc of the shitty half-life on modern dope) costs alot of money. He didn’t have to use to avoid getting sick, he had the bread to just keep going. The old man must have been slamming a few bags at a time by the time he took that last hellride.

"Anyway, we just cruised across the street to hang out on the corner. Then these two homos came walking by hugging and kissing and shit. Of course I had to say something. One of 'em was a tall white guy and his boyfriend was a short, stocky black guy. He must have been the manlier of the two cuz he started talking shit back. They were both walking backwards talking at the same time saying, "Fuck you, punk rock assholes." They were right, we were assholes, and we were out to ruin someone else's night. So we attacked 'em. I kicked the white guy, then the black guy punched me, after that P.B. hit him. He went down knocked out cold. His other friend was standing there looking at him so I ran and kicked him in the face. Now he was down too. So me and P.B. walked away toward our car to bail. The guys who were watching-J.B. from B.R. and this guy Arnel and their whole bunch of friends-started kicking the guys on the ground while they were down. It's really stupid but that used to happen a lot in the punker days. People who weren't involved became involved, like sharks moving in on the wounded. Stupid, huh? Well they beat 'em up pretty bad. I guess somebody got their license number of the car and they got arrested later. They instantly put all the blame on us. So about two days after somebody told me the cops were looking for me. I was thinking, "Yeah right. No big deal. We just beat up a couple of homos. Nothing too bad." 6 o'clock the next morning I'm in bed. I hear a knock at the front door. I look out the front window. Like 10 cops or something. Shit. I yell to my roommate I'm not here and I hide in the closet under the dirty clothes. They come into the room and I can hear 'em. Where's Jay? We know he's here. Look, his bed is warm. Where's he at? My roommate Billy, he's freaking out, told me they got their guns on him. He's just saying, "I don't know where he is." So they check out the whole house. They look right over me, I'm not even breathing, thinking, "Yeah, they didn't even see me." I could hear them going through the rest of the house. Finally about 5 or 10 minutes later this other guy comes in to double check and he finds me. Damn. I thought they weren't going to get me but I guess it's better they did cuz I didn't even know how serious the charges were. I thought we just got into a little fight, nobody's supposed to get hurt, not that hurt anyway. So they take me down to Venice to look for P.B.. They get him too. They take us to the station and charge us with assault. I think I didn't know any better so I told 'em what happened and that's the worst thing you could ever do cuz they ain't out to help you. When you're in police custody the cops hate you. You ain't "innocent until proven guilty"; you're "guilty until you get out of jail"
After I told 'em what happened they recharged us with 187 p.c. MURDER. 25 to life. I couldn't believe it. Life is over; will I ever surf again? Or skate? How old will I be when I get out? Did the guy really die?
We didn't kill him. But no matter what I say I started a fight and a man got killed. It's hard to think about but I don't feel like me or P.B. were at fault. Those other guys kicked him in the head with steal toe boots on and the guy who died never got kicked by us. Well that's what really happened. . .We finally got charged with Assault (felony). 6 months in jail so you do 4 months in jail. That's the truth, the whole truth, so help me god. I don't think that's a cool story but that's the way it was, like it or not. And it's definitely not the way to treat other people. Who cares what people are into? All people should be treated with respect.

I used to make him ice cream sundaes at st Francis fountain. He used to sit there at the counter and eat them so fucked up on pills. Glasses crooked mouth agape, holding the spoon high up in the air as the ice cream drifts off the spoon and cascades into his gullet. And then sometimes if he wasn’t getting his ass kissed he’d go “do you know who I am??!!”. Definitely also heard him yelling the hard R at Potrero. Loveable fellow.
The IHOP I would study at in college would start pulling all the syrup and honey and sugar packets after 11pm because junkies would come in and gobble it all "to lengthen their high". Something about more dopamine released....
You'd only get your syrup if you ordered appropriately. They would ask for one cup of coffee and 8 packs of sugar.. The waitresses called them "rushers".

And it needs to be less centered around the text book glamourous addiction recovery porn-style content---where dudes decide to allow cameras into their lives under the guise of "i'm done drinking cuz that was my whole problem and i'm fixed and like to skateboard now." Some people know better.
