Just curious as to what they are building at the Vans park in Huntington Beach since they tore down the tranny section.
https://youtu.be/6KHy8xwn08M
Are they gonna replace the clover bowl? extended it and make it bigger? or completely take off that section of the park?
-
I thought I heard they were gonna do a reversed combi
-
They're building the new Slap headquarters. Supposedly they're starting a Slap podcast where they only talk shit about everyone and of course all of the hosts faces will be blurred out.

Yup, the Orange Vans where the combi is,is closing down this year. Free sessions now and no helmet required so if you're in Orange go skate, its not a bad park. The Combi is gnarly to skate, theres a good mini there too along with the street section.
Back on track, since the old park is closing I think the plan is to run the park series contests at the HB location and the combi contest too.

Not sure if these are related, but per Grosso, Vans HB is getting a vert ramp: http://www.thrashermagazine.com/articles/jeff-grosso-on-vert-ramps/ (http://www.thrashermagazine.com/articles/jeff-grosso-on-vert-ramps/)
I had no idea that they were closing the Vans park in Orange, but that's a bummer. I'm moving out there in a few months and was looking forward to skating it.

damn. I guess there is no way a free skatepark could pay for that high end retail space in a mall. I cant imagine a vans tearing down the combi bowl and not rebuilding it somewhere.

A playhouse for the children?

A playhouse for the children?
This is the only thing that makes a lick of sense.

Nah that park was never free. It was a pay to play setup.

Luckily Vans got the mall to extend the Orange lease for another year so that park is there until at least end of 2019
Vans HB is getting a Park Series Style flow park, a combi pool (last I heard it was going to be the flipped version to switch it up a bit) and Grosso's vert ramp that is currently at Vans HQ
-
Hb Vans definitely has the space for all that, looking forward to it.
-

I'm just amazed they didn't build this park in downtown HB where the current "action sports" tourist economy thrives.
They could have easily capitalized on Vans' mainstream hype and taken the Venice park route of being a tourist attraction.

It'd be a shit show then. It's nicely tucked away by Old Town, and a whole shopping center of decent food.

And right by there is Goldenwest College which is a pretty fun spot.
