X games was the first skating I ever saw. I think it's sick. Contests have been around longer than street skating so that's the og shit. They are part of the careers of most of the best dudes ever.
Like yea I'm down to watch some of the best dudes alive throw hammers live. If you don't want to see that then wtf? Put a piece of paper over the scoreboard and watch yuto slice.

Nyjah said fuck/fucking multiple times audibly when the cameras zoomed in on him, pretty funny. Gary was like "Nyjah! say it again..louder this time" I laughed. Gary also seemed in disbelief that Nyjah won over Kelvin.

When I was little, I used to be really into reading the news paper for some reason. I remember there being some assignment where we had to read the newspaper multiple days in a row for school or something like that and I just kept it going. One day in the summer before 5th grade (I think it was 2001) the Philadelphia Inquirer had an article where they talked to Ricky Oyola about the xgames coming to Philly and the contest being held at city hall. I remember thinking he sounded like a crazy person, but awesome at the same time. I hung the article up on my wall and I asked my Dad to take me to see the contest. I remember being really overwhelmed trying to figure out what was happening at the contest, but wanting to start skateboarding because it looked really fun. I had a cool older cousin who skateboarded but he lived in Florida at the time so I hadn't seen much real skateboarding up until that point. It was cool. That article with Ricky was still on my bed room wall in my parents until I went away to college and they threw out all my stuff.

i remember when the xgames were going to be at city hall. i was so excited about it since it was my favorite spot and it would be cool to see on tv. i also thought it was going to be cool to see an actual contest in the streets. i ended up not seeing it until way after the fact and being disappointed.
