Title: Best Royal bushing setups?
Post by: brwrxstl on August 23, 2018, 07:15:35 PM
So I've talked myself into trying Royals and was wondering if anybody has any recommendations on what kind of bushings to upgrade them with?

 ;D.

I concur.  Brxdkd, do yourself a favor and don’t get them.  They are very cheap-feeling trucks, like they are only marginally better than what might come on a Walmart board.

I actually just finished riding a pair of Royals. I got them for free from my local shop in a contest they were running.

They were ok. They don't turn worth shit, and after just a little while of grinding, the kingpin would catch a lot. I ride a lot of park transition and miniramp so that sucked. I could see guys that just ledge skate liking them. I just used the stock bushings in them, but I think if you put some softer bushings in them they would be a bit better.

I got some Aces now.  :)

Alright awesome, I mostly skate ledges lol. But yeah after 18 years I've tried pretty much everything so I at least wanted to fuck with a pair just to say I did.

Doesn't hurt to try new things.  I wouldn't say they were shit, but definitely not the  trucks with the most turning capabilities, so not great for flowing the park. I guess I kind of settled I to the feeling of those Royals because once I set up my new ACE trucks they felt so loose and squirrely.

Rob?

Yo yo what up in the hiz house

Yeah I wouldn’t recommend them

They are as the previous poster said, CHEAP

idk why crail tries to do this selling cheaply made stuff and thinking it’s gonna keep them in the positive light

They grind smooth and stuff, like a fun sounding grind but I think it’s cause they’re soft metal

The turn is as said “shit” and the feeling is very fragile, the base plates are kinda thin and they just have this off feeling when your digging for feel into a trick and they just  don’t always respond well

If you really really try them I’d recommend bones mediums using the provided washers for roadside and the stock roadside washer as deckside bushing washers cause stability is terrible with the royals

I just remembered after all that typing, they start good for the first few min and make flip tricks easy cause they respond kinda well but after a few min they turn to shit when they warm up and once they break in they’re total shit, they barely turn but do that Walmart board hard loose bushings trucks magic, you get wheelbite but no turn response. They rock back and forth but don’t turn. It’s like having loose indys but they don’t turn

If you're going to throw the bushing away, you may as well just go ahead and toss the hanger, and baseplate as well.

I skated my Royal 5.25 lo stock.
And had no problems with the trucks. They bent a bit faster than others(Indy 149 inkl).
Softer alloy. Grind good. Turn better than my Tensors ;D
Read some good reviews on the 5,5.
Might buy them if they are on sale.
