The memories.

Last Girl video that did it for me and if I remember correctly, pretty much stopped skating Girl/Chocolate boards a few years after this came out. Younger gen will claim Yeah Right but at that point, it lost the magic...for me at least. Probably the influx of random additions and such, who knows.

Thinking of it, loss of Keenan really seemed to change the vibe to me also.

Re-watching...that old man skit is pretty great.

You're wrong. In Yeah Right they was in their prime and must of then had Full Parts. Chocolate tour was majority few clips in one minute footage. Yeah Right was the evolution.

How can someone be wrong about their own opinion of what they like?

I'm with verylowimpact - Yeah Right didn't have the same vibe, for me. Felt like all the new guys kinda changed up the original aesthetic. Music selection was weaker. I think of pre-Yeah Right as the golden years of Girl/Chocolate, and post Yeah Right as the confused and trying to stay relevant years.

Which new guys? BA, KA, RM (was introduced in chocolate tour), Biebel, P-Rod and Jay Casanova was new on It, but Gino Full part and Marc Johnson made me stoked. I also with low impact, is my type of skating, but Yeah Right was the best video to me. I agree with you, they kinda lost that dirty street dudes vibe.

Yeah Right came out right in time for a new era in skateboarding. For me, photosynthesis closed the 90s, Yeah Right set the tone for the 00s

Glad they upload them to you tube.  I put on mouse on the 54" the other week and loved the quality

I still have these on VHS but most tapes look absolutely booboo on my HDTV and even bought a VCR with HD capability.

I am on the Yeah Right train. That is my favorite Crailtap vid. Chocolate Tour is definitely up there and even Full Flared even though people give that video so much shit now. But Yeah Right was just the best from the skating, music, skits, etc.

All downhill after Goldfish. But Im bias to this era. Plus MC skates to Melachi the Nutcracker of Group Home and then De La. Pure gold! But still, the first 4 crail videos were best. I honestly feel Yeah Right ushered in the overproduced feel.

I enjoy Yeah Right but I will say, I liked the overall feel of most of the videos Tim Dowling was heavily involved in more, over Ty trying to make them "epic." Although, I'm not exactly sure who was the full-time filmer for Girl for Chocolate Tour, as I'm pretty sure Dowling got fired after Mouse.

Yeah Right has some great stuff. Full parts by Koston, BA, and McCrank at their peaks, plus amazing Gino and MJ parts. I get though how its the first Crailtap video with a bunch of new guys after some of the old heads had retired/forced to leave (Gavin, Jovantae, Sheffey) or stopped producing enough footage (Guy, Rudy, etc). Plus obviously Keenan's untimely death.

Stevie with last part had Philly hyped.

Colin McKay’s part ruined the flow of the video.

Tony Ferguson and SJ had the sleeper parts of the video.

I always wondered why there was no Paulo in Mouse and no Gabe in Chocolate Tour.

Girl and Chocolate’s prime definitely ended with this video. I think for everyone who grew up in the Girl heyday, we were probably most accustomed to it being where former World riders jumped ship to. New riders not from World, at least to me, required more scrutiny.

SJ, Stevie, and even Biebel made sense. Everyone after that seemed peculiar. Like Kenny rode for Planet Earth, which was nowhere near being an elite company.

Kenny fit despite apparently being a shit human being, he has amazing style on the board.

I'd add McCrank too, he came from post-World Plan B at the time. He def fit due to his connection with Koston through eS, although I believe its Colin who got him on.

Couldn't agree more on Colins part completely ruining the flow of the video.

I actually even completely forgot it was in there until it came up on screen. He had no place in the video or company. The literal definition of vert button.

Currently finishing up a book I've written about the evolution of skate videos over a 25 year period. The Chocolate Tour is mentioned. Here are a few words...

With skateboarders starting to fully embrace dramatic tricks, it was pretty obvious one crew was going to bring the drama of the acting kind - again. [...] The Chocolate Tour is skateboarding’s Spinal Tap.

[...] Removing the skits would mean losing more than half the actual video which kind of leaves the viewer feeling short-changed especially from such a prominent team of skateboarders. A lot of parts last barely a minute a piece before the viewer is thrown back in the tour bus and faced with another wild predicament.

The Chocolate Tour signalled a roster shake-up at Girl and Chocolate. Some of the riders who were more sparse in providing footage, for example Ben Sanchez, Jovontae Turner or Shamil Randle were replaced by other minimalists. Chris Roberts, Colin McKay and Scott Johnston who all have very short and inconsequential parts. In their defence, Colin was recovering from the recent demise of Plan B, while Chris and Scott have never been over-achievers in the footage department and embody the “less is more” philosophy. [...]

That was the first and most watched girl video. Think I watched it 3-4 times a week when I was a teenager. My tumblr (yes, I live in the past) is called a picture of Brandon.
How many years was it im between chocolate tour and yeah right? 4 years? A lot happened in between, mainly the whole internet and technology thing, and we all waited on slap for THAT download link. Everyone was a bit disappointed cause it did not live up to the hype … still one of the greatest videos of all time.

McCrank actually came from Birdhouse, which made it even more strange. He went to Birdhouse as that iteration of Plan B folded. The Canuck and eS connection were key. His getting on Girl marked a big shift in how skateboarding was changing at the time. He was Girl’s first real ATV. It was uncomfortable for most Girl acolytes, but his part in The End was undeniable.
