I too would like to know. American cities going to shit is different than Canadian ones it feels like. Maybe that’s cause that carries a more racist connotation in America.

I too would like to know. American cities going to shit is different than Canadian ones it feels like. Maybe that’s cause that carries a more racist connotation in America.
Montreal has a dwindling tax-base, which was partially fueled by big companies leaving or relocating a significant portion of their workforce around the threats of separation in the 70's and then the 90's. The city has never recovered on that front.There are also serious issues with public corruption.
I wouldn't call the place a shithole though. It does have some serious long-term issues though. Its still a great city to visit in my opinion.

Yeah, it's still worth a visit. But what a drastic change since maybe 3 years ago ish, maybe 5 years.
Fuck when I was younger montreal was one of the nicest canadian cities hands down.
Now bridges are falling apart and killing people.

new champlain bridge is one of the biggest infrastructure renewal projects going on anywhere in n. america today, montreal economy is good, quality of life even better with lots of jobs and low rent despite a hot real estate market.
I wouldn't put off a Glory Challenge trip till next year, I'm starting a rumour this might be the last one.

Went back to Montreal a few months ago and it’s the same old shit that’s been happening forever. Constructing happening and needed everywhere but that’s nothing too new. Great place to live on a cheap budget but can be tough to get into a decent industry with good pay. Dime glory challenges are the best and tickets to MTL aren’t too expensive right now.
