Post by: calvinsdream on September 05, 2018, 11:24:29 AM
Thought this was worth a watch. There's not a lot of stuff out there about him.

you don't get to be mysteriously aloof and unfriendly when you run around town wiggling your skateboard between your legs

Is he sponsored by red bull? Or Ryan deczenso and Jaimie Foys skating is inspired by gou

Beatiful little piece though I liked the interviews with his actual peers

i wish he was interviewed more. i really want to get inside his head. it confused the living shit out of me when the red bull shit came up at the end since i didn’t see who actually posted it on youtube. still, he’s a blessing to skateboarding. thank you gou

I agree except I liked C Haslams perspective.   Gou Miyagi is hella good and changed the whole game.

I've never heard of a pro skater not using griptape before. That is a trip.

I agree I would consider haslam more of a peer, I also wonder if gou influenced gravette or vice versa even

he's been of griptape ever since that he dropped that OG part that made him famous. I love how his mates try to convince him otherwise and he's just like "nah". I also love that somewhere along the way he had an epiphany and through that he was able to change that way that we all view skating. That's like some Gonz-level shit!

The genisis of the griptape thing is because shoes are expensive in Japan.

He’s been skating for a very long time and has parts back into the 90s. I don’t know how old he is but is older than you think. Would have been cool if they covered a little of that older stuff.

All in all, it was a fun watch and I like his parents.

Thank god Jamie Foy and Ryan Decenzo were available to provide their insights. If only Tommy Sandoval was also available, this would have been perfect.

yeah, but he was sponsored by I-path back in the day so it's not like he was paying for shoes anyway.
He's easily 40 and ye,s in some of his old parts you can see him skate "traditionally" (although he has a few creative tricks peppered in here and there).

I mean the habit was developed before I Path. And I’m saying older than that even - maybe pushing 50.
