Not gonna lie, a few of my friends and myself are especially stoked on the new tony hawk lakai pro model, the proto. Not sure when it drops but definitely looking forward to it. Do you guys think this shoe is gonna help lakai get themselves back in the game? If you wanna see photos google “lakai proto” dont feel like getting a code to post here. Or check lakais recent post of manchild sporting them in a park clip.

I'm just glad the catalog doesn't show the shoe with that fucking hideous Velcro lace cover. If that was a feature that was built in or included the designer should have been fired and blacklisted from the industry. I want Lakai to stay around. Rickk and Mike have contributed a lot to skateboarding and i would like to see them have continued success and be able to rebuild and grow for 20 more years. I've been happy with the shoes I've had from them the past 2 years, the Owen is by far my favorite slip on currently on the market and I like the Freemont too. However, they dropped the ball on this! The Money on designing this shoe should have been used to travel and film some promos or swoop up someone lost in the shuffle at Adidas or Nike which would make some noise having a pro jump ship to Lakai.
You can see where they are going for the look for the Enigma, but the should have just updated the Telford or something. they wanted to go for the late 80s skate shoe look but also wanted to make it look like a Jordan too. The Telford is a dunk rip off that would have looked great in Jordan colorways.

I dig them. I think is tight that Lakai and Tony are doing something that Tony can back and probably designed 100%, not just some basic black top - white sole that every fucking brand does.

Silhouette looks cool, kinda lynxy style and I have recently been skating Lakai griffins with the xlk cupsole wchich I like really much. I just fucking hate that black toebox. ugh.
Btw: I saw a clip of the birdman skating the supreme bowl La with those on and I thought he was skating fucking jordan 11's.

i tend to agree re the design, there's something a bit off (unsuccessful?) about it. like a work in progress or a sample shoe. maybe they'll tighten it up for version 2.0, if there is one. makes sense they're doing it as a limited run, i hope people who like it actually do buy it/they get encouraging feedback. seems risky but tony hawk is a big/crossover name so maybe it'll work?

white/black for next spring look super good. they remind me of the bruin vapors i'm skating now and i like the fit, but the outsole isn't really meant for skating.

I ended up getting a pair as well, fit is pretty good but they are a bit stiff straight out of the box. I think they'll loosen up nicely after a couple of skates. The only thing I'd change is a bit more padding in the collar, I'm pretty pedantic about heel lock.
all in all first impressions are good.. plus the box is cool.

I would say yes, though they are fairly narrow in the midfoot area for me. The length is ok.
They have a similar feel to DC Tiago's as those are snug in the mid foot area for me as well. I wear size 12 in SB fat tongue Dunks, Kyle Walkers and Tiago's and bought 12 with Hawks. I couldn't try them on either. They are stiffer out of the box then all the aforementioned shoes.
Another thing, if you have a high arch they may feel funny due to the narrowness in that area.

Still selling the Marc shoe and giving Stevie a second shoe even tho he has recently been kooked on slap, is pretty meh.

all three of those Lakai catalogs for this year are pretty solid. cannot wait for those Atlantics to drop!! the black/white for most models is something every company should do. and a lot of their silhouettes are clean, if not similar. Newport, Flaco 2 and Cambridge all look appealing to me. i kinda prefer the Manchester over the Sheffield design.
i tried the Bristol a few months ago and it had horrible fit, like the worst heel lock i've ever experienced on a shoe fully laced up. i just think the insole was too thick for the shoe. but i traded them in for some canvas Manchester Lean deadstock and those have turned out to be nice.

Finally tried these on. The fit is ok, the shoe itself is narrow compared to the other two pairs of lakais in 11 that I've tried. This would have been better as an 11.5.
