Dill is one of my favorite people to listen to talk about anything in the world in general. I’ve listened to all his interviews at least more then one time when I’ve got shit to do and need background noise. Dudes funny, crazy, and says some of the most wild shit. Also his photo part is one of my favorite parts ever. I remember as a kid my favorite trick off curb cuts was a fakie shuv because of the one Dill did over the barricade before the walking ollie in that part.

Like isn’t that like the epitome of counterintuitive? Like if he didn’t want people to go to college and get educated why would one of his biggest points be to provide free college education? Like the whole point whether u agree or disagree with the man is that he wants the country to be educated, he just disputes that taxpayers should pay the burden, which definitely seems unfair to those who didn’t get their education paid for but the whole idea is that eventually the populace pays into it throughout their lifetime like social security. Whether you disagree with that method or not, it’s clear the man wants Americans to be educated.

I'm pretty new to slap, is the general opinion of Dill pretty low on here? Serious question. I've always enjoyed his skating but I've heard less than good things about him in the industry. I don't really know much about that shit though, that's why I came here. I thought it was fucking hilarious when he made that doodle for the nine club and botched crobs quote on it though. There's always going to be skateboarders who attack the companies in skateboarding who crossover to the mainstream since skateboarding is all they have to give themselves an identity...So to them seeing people "appropriate their culture" devalues their already valueless identity....and that's obviously too much for their fragile little egos to handle ::)
Dill is a self made dude, who against all odds did really well for himself, and those kinds of stories are what schools should be promoting right now considering how most kids end up leaving school and failing to pursue anything of significance because of the shit people like Bernie Sanders pound into their heads.

He has more money than he'll ever be able to spend. I'm not a communist and I'm on the fence on socialism, but c'mon, there's got to be some balance. In Japan many companies are set up where the CEO doesn't make 100000000% more than the lowest paid employee. There is still some honor in business if you want to call it that. Henry Ford created the middle class in the USA at the turn of the 20th century by giving his employees an unusually high salary, but now that middle class is completely gone. There are the poor, and there are the super rich. Those still in the middle class are those who came up through it, but there are very few 20somethings in the USA that will know what comfortable middle class life feels like unless a lot changes.
We need to start blaming those at blame. The supervillian CEOs who don't give a flying fuck about their employees or humans or the world in general and only care about adding billions to their fortune. Fuck these people and their money. I'm not impressed.

Amazon has made a lot of people rich, and they'll continue to do so. The company itself is a good thing in the sense of job creation. I don't even mean Amazon Jobs themselves either. I'm talking about companies that exist to supply or provide services to Amazon. Andrew Yang talked about the rise of autonation that's on the horizon, and that industry itself is going to make a lot of people rich again thanks to Amazon. Whether it's drone hardware companies, drone efficiency companies, or whatever. There's plenty of ways people can still make their own billions thanks to Amazon.
But Bezos himself? Yeah I'm not a fan. But for every Bezos there's a Bill Gates or Buffet that does "good things" with their money but again that's an issue of personal morality and ethics more than anything.
Like If I was super rich my focus would be on making my community better and helping kids get better education, and I'd really go crazy investing in plant based foods, and animal rights related stuff. But that would be driven by me as a person. So that desire has to exist before you even get rich.
That's what I hate about liberalism and socialism is that the people in power rely on this "you're a victim of the system" message rather a "you should achieve success within the system to make the world a better place".
Bloomberg is another example. The guy is dumping hundreds of millions into a virtue driven campaign instead of just taking that money and actually doing virtuous things. It's insane. But that's again not to say that he couldn't do the opposite if he chose to which is why I'll always defend the idea of unlimited wealth.... because what you do with that money will always be dependent on free will.

Automation is going to single handily destroy the middle class. Seems like people assume automation is stuff like conveyor belts and robots taking over simple manufacturing process jobs when that’s in fact wrong. My industry alone they have automated trucks and cranes in China that run 24/7, wiping out thousands of jobs just like that.
They have automated radiologists, x-ray techs and journalists. That’s just scratching the surface.
Yang had the idea of taxes the automations like people but even still we need to protect our jobs. People continue to get poorer and poorer every year and they wonder why? The jobs are disappearing before our eyes.

Look I’m a really well paid engineer and am a great not just good but great skateboarder. I’ve spent thousands of hours doing both to become really good at what I do. I naturally want to believe in working hard and reaping what you sow. At the end of the day though it’s kind of a scam to think like that. It seems the most moral from a selfish standpoint, like in the sense of if you were in that guys shoes you wouldn’t want that money taken away, just like you don’t want your own money taken away. Problem is with a fixed currency this is an extremely complex problem. At the end of the day it comes down to the velocity of money, which sure international power of your currency comes into play And some other random external things out of control are there, but it’s such a small parasitic on the actual equations governing buying power. If you’re not familiar with velocity of money it’s essentially the buying power of your dollar. The number of the velocity equates to how much that specific dollar was circulated in a calendar year. I think In the 1970’s America’s velocity was like 7 something, which means that dollar was spent 7 times by different entities throughout the year. In the modern day the velocity is something like 1.3-1.4 last time I checked which was like a year ago or some shit. Either way our buying power of the currency has decreased because our currency doesn’t circulate. Well you could say then we’ll why don’t we mint more money, well if you mint more money then you cause inflation to rise which then decreases buying power even more. Essentially the only way to solve the United States economic crisis if you actually do the math and the research which I did a year or two ago you will basically reach the conclusion that the only way out is to circulate the money more. There’s a number of issues with this though, like if you are worth a hundred billion dollars, what do you have to invest all that money in? This is definitely the reason why reagonomics and that republican way of thinking in regards to economics is so narrow minded and based on a time when capitalism was very small wealth(at least in comparison to now). Like you realize capitalism is based on times of bartering and like society and a much more primal point. Either way you just don’t have enough to invest in if you are a billionaire, plus imagine if you were in there shoes, you’re not going to invest 50% of your savings into stocks are you(I mean do you?). Either way even if you do spend 50% into our economy for company growth/jobs, that billionaire is still sitting on billions of dollars that will never be circulated back into our economy. Then they will die, and there kids will get it, and the kids who really never made the money will be even more frugal in investment creating essentially this trap of wealth that will never be given back to the economy of the country essentially ballooning our velocity over time. I remember talking with a republican fellow of mine who’s a genius engineer, and we talked about this and both agree that the velocity is the only way to solve this countries economics crisis. We also both agreed that investment like that is futile, but the difference is my suggestion was we tax those people and take that money away to circulate it, but he didn’t like that because he still is stuck in that old world view of reaping what u sow. His thought was well eventually a war or a pandemic will come along that will essentially redistribute the wealth and we should wait for that, which is an absurd thought but you know y’all are stuck in an old way of thinking which seems intuitive at its basis, but once extrapolated for a such a complex modern system just falls the fuck apart. Like you don’t realize that basically your way of thinking is making literally 1,000 people shaft over 350 million in the case of the United States of America. Like I’m all for the concept because it seems moral when you think in a narrow minded way like that, but like it seems extremely immoral when you realize the amount of people including you who get shafted over by this. In my opinion they should have a 50% death tax on billionaires that die and it would solve this issue, especially because inherited wealth is what balloons this, but hey that’s just me.

Yeah I googled around and he had another book called Escape Hell come out a few years back. I first asked the question because Dill specifically says "some of you buy my shirts and books" Would anyone really say with a straight face that they were excited to go see a talk by Jason Dill the famous book and t shirt maker? He's known for skating and running a successful skate/fashion brand. Dill's statement was some straight up LinkedIn style padding of his resume and I'm calling bullshit.

I know I'm biased since I'm the one who filmed and uploaded the talk, but the way Jenkem embedded it at the top of their article without any acknowledgement that it's not their video seems pretty unscrupulous.
They also embedded some of the IG posts from this thread but didn't credit those IG users.* A friend of mine replied to their story asking about not crediting the video source and they replied "U know who filmed it his insta? Tried to find"
Not sure why they were "trying to find" my insta to credit a youtube video, but between Lawrence Lanza's pulitzer coverage of a video he watched, and Jenkem's social media team's acumen for navigating the source of social media content, I think it's safe to say that they have made the decision to go with the clicks>credibility business model.

Some of those people are friends of mine who couldn't make it there, so I recorded it with them in mind, but I'm sure there are lots more people who wish they could have been there as well.
