Title: Removing grip tape without a hair dryer
Post by: planman on September 14, 2018, 11:17:34 AM
Ordered a board from CCS the other day w/ a sheet of red grip and forgot to tell them not to apply it. I was only going to use a little bit of it, and I'm not down to skate a board that's entirely red grip. What's the best way to peel it off without a hair dryer, I don't have one of those.

Might have to just go buy a hairdryer. You can probably get a shitty one for like $10, and then you're covered if you ever need to de-grip another board in the future.

Spray paint that shit black, and save yourself the time and energy a hairdryer would've taken.

This is actually a good idea. You could even tape it up and have some red peek through where you want it.

if you ever get a girlfriend she could borrow it

Just peel it off like you're peeling off a giant sticker and hope it peels off in one piece and not bits and pieces.

just let your board near a fire or a hot girl a few minutes

My first “real” setup had red grip tape and solid black wheels.  I wouldn’t be caught dead skating that ugly shit nowadays.

What can I say?  I was a regular 14 year old with apparently very bad taste.

douse the grip in rubbing alcohol, light it, let it burn for a sec it won't burn your board, stomp it out and peel it nice and easy.

If I were you I would just colour in bits and pieces of the grip black. No one de-grips a board, and for good reason.

why doesn't anyone degrip his/her board?
last winter I skated like 10 sessions while it's been raining/snowing. put new grip on when I found a parking Garage ^^

Wear some latex gloves and focus the board cleanly down the center

Don't take credit for my scientifically fascinating low resting heart rate.

In a study of psychopaths and serial killers they noticed that on average they had much lower than average resting heart rates.

Use a hot air gun instead of a hair dryer.

I don't know why I just thought of this but did you try taking the board off of the grip instead of taking the grip off of the board?
