add whatever you can find and post stories if you have them

back around when i first got into skating, learning tricks, and finding out what was what, the emerica team had a signing at the local shop. heath stood out the most, he was probably one of the most genuine people i have ever met and talked to. he was a down to earth person who came in and hung out just like a local. after the signing he watched videos, skated some flat out front with everyone that stayed around, joined in conversations, and a bunch of other stuff. he sticks out as one of the coolest pros that have ever swung by this way

i saw Heath at a demo in 1995 in Baton Rouge.  He was acting weird, and wearing long sleeves inside of the warehouse in the middle of summer.  He skated for a few minutes, then freaked out and ran through the ghetto screaming.

sight unseen is basically one of the best videos of all time, with amazing skating contributed by cardiel, henry sanchez, dustin dollin and kirchart....

Kircharts tailslides to regular on rails were what inspired me to learn tailslides..... to come out fakie from a tailslide is easy but to turn it back regular is hard and just looks way better....

lets hope kircharts next part is not his last....

Yeah Heath's great, that shared part with Jeremy Klein is one of my favorites ever.

Slightly interesting side note, Panda Bear from Animal Collective has said that Heath's part in Sight Unseen was his favorite part ever. It's cool to know that somebody like that is not only into skating, but has good taste in it as well.
[close]
I though he favored Clark Hassler's part in the enjoi vid?

I don't know if you're joking, but in this thread he say it's Heath's part.
http://rerz.net/ac/messages/viewtopic.php?t=1671 (http://rerz.net/ac/messages/viewtopic.php?t=1671)
That link is worth checking out because apparently one of the posters on that site is David Loy's older brother.

What does this mean

"tosh has been in depression ever since he killed the chick in huntinington
that explains why his skating isnt like it used to be
brent atchley is good but seems to do kind of the same stuff "
[close]

You mean the Tosh part? Apparently he hit a girl with his car and killed her. I remember hearing that rumor in 02ish, and I'm fairly sure it's true. And I guess that whoever posted that thinks Brent needs to switch up his trick selection. I don't post on that site, just lurk it every once in a while looking for bootlegs.

"we are going to el toro today
one of our friends from chicago is gonna try to tre flip it

Yeah, I guess kookedry runs in the Loy family.

Old thread but whatever, heard a good story the other day.

So apparently Heath wanted to skate Bob's Mega but Bob was on vacation.  Heath and Mike Manzoori sneak onto the Mega and Heath starts trying it, walking back up the hill after each try.  Bob's dad hears the noise and comes down the hill to check things out.  In the process of scuttling to hide, Manzoori hits his head and needs medical attention.  They go take care of Manzoori  and Bob ends up calling Heath and inviting him back to try again.

J. Strickland started up a VX archive on insta and posted footage of Heath skating a contest in Germany with a bunch of other good stuff too.

There’s an old slap thread when the workshop video was being filmed and everyone was saying what a joke Heaths part would be. How he’s lazy and hasn’t filmed shit. Saw it a couple months ago and got a good laugh.

Said it many times here but I was just like 15 and he sat around and talked to me and my friends for an hour or so and was cool as could be.

When I was very young I got the Sight Unseen VHS as a gift, I watched it over, and over.

My favorite part was Heath, 'Knights in White Satin' just fit it so beautiful and even though I was young, I could appreciate the art direction and Heaths style.

He's remained my favorite skater since. I wish he didn't retire early but that's just how he is so I can't say much.

i skated the 2010 berrics once with a homie, manny was there, some dude and oscar meza, the went to get some food and offered us a sub, we declined but asked if we could stay in the meantime, they locked us in and asked us to be respectful and if anybody comes just to let them know why we were there, so yeah. Couple of minutes went by and we hear a motorcycle parking out front, heath came in and just nodded at us, and started skating flat, full fucking speed just hitting the metal qps (back and forth, no kickturn)and busting a flatground trick in the middle, did all kikflips all frontside flips, all the backsideflips, 360flips and then he just halfcab boarded the 7 stair and left, we could not process what the fuck was going on, didnt even say anything at all. One of the best days of my life for fucking sure, i still cant fucking believe it.

Damn, this is an awesome story. Gotta think that seeing him skate in a setting like that is like seeing a unicorn.

I was at Tampa Pro in 2011, and at some point during the awards one of them shouted out Heath who was sitting above the rest of the spectators by himself. Not quite the rafters, but high enough to where nobody could sit with him. He seemed kinda bummed to be outed like that but it was still a cool moment.

I was feeling pretty burnt and hungry at my local when he pulls up out of nowhere with two of his homies, i wasnt sure if it was him then i saw the Workshop board and shat myself. no one else in the park knew who he was and fuckin snaked him like 5 times as he was trying figure out how to find the speed to boost the fuck out of a back three over this pretty burly hip. he got a couple that he wasnt stoked on, his two homies were filming, but finally got a good one and left right after. which i was really hoping he wasnt gonna do. im stoked tho he tapped his board when i got a pretty nice nollie backside flip over a much more mellow hip on the pyramid. at least im pretty sure he did as i was trying hard as fuck with all the self control i could muster to not look over at him as soon as i landed it. i hella regret not saying whats up but i wasnt sure if he'd be stoked or bummed on it

Missed out on the Stay Gold B-sides in the time I wasn't skating, damn. Having the camera crew on the Mega Ramps puts into perspective how huge that thing is, just standing on the drop in you can hear how desolate the place is.

In classic Kirchart fashion, he takes the worst slams enroute to landing his tricks but when he does it's picture perfect.

I was in Des Moines, Iowa last weekend and ran into him at Subsect skate shop.
He was really nice, I guess he used to own the shop and still owns the building.
Pretty cool to meet a legend in person.

Beautiful, I've not ventured into his back catalog (only Sight Unseen and after) so this was rad. It's weird to see someone so light footed on handrails, and he always looks like he's got the perfect posture to roll away with zero sketchiness.

I've been to that park several times and that box jump is no fucking joke. I was tripping looking at it knowing that Heath did that back 3.
