We are also trying to start a letters section, so send us something when you get the chance. Skate Video Reviews
The crop of videos this month may not quite compare to those of last month, but there were a few notable ones showcased here. If you don’t like any mentioned in this issue, just remember that videos like Mind Field, Extremely Sorry, The Now, and so on are just around the corner.

Let’s Live
Let’s Live was one of two videos from 2007 to have explosions in the intro. Did Fully Flared steal their idea? Who knows? Anyway, this video is a tribute to Shane Cross, and does a whole lot to really show everyone what kind of person Shane Cross was. All of the Australia riders on the team talk about him and why he’ll be missed. Because of this, this video had quite a good vibe to it. In fact, the title “Let’s Live” is one of the many memorable quotes of Shane Cross. Besides that whole aspect of it, there is also a ton of amazing skating in this video, as well as some really nice editing, and some interesting introductions to each person’s part. The way everything is put together will have you watching this video again and again. If you don’t have $26 to spend on a DVD, you can still cop it off iTunes for $2. Believe me, its more than worth it.

Goin’ Bananas
Knowing about the whole “Don’t do it” campaign that Birdo has been leading for years, I was expecting this video to do a lot of preaching, but other than maybe a little bit in the introduction, I was happy to see that the focus was solely on some Grade A skateboarding. The skits kept me entertained, and really had me wishing there were more of them. One of the most refreshingly different/ funny things in this video had to be Kyle Berard’s music video part. You’ll just have to watch and see what that is all about. Now, in my true style, I’ll have to end this review by saying something corny. You’ll go bananas for this one.

Shred the Gnar
This is the second Hotwax video. For those of you who don’t know what this means, it is basically a video featuring Chris Cole and a bunch of his friends that happen to have exceptional talent at skating. It is very much in the name of fun, including guys that go by the names of Tom Asta, Chachi, Teemo Justin Pomp, Ian Berry, Jeremy Wieland, Chris Cole, and Kyle Frederick. Pick up this video if you’re curious. If you’ve lost sight of the fun side of skateboarding, this one is for you.

The Bacon Video
Bacon skateboards, which I believe has had a few ads in some smaller magazines, has recently put out their very first video, complete with all the death metal you can handle, and more, which gets to be a bit much after a while. Of course, there were definitely other parts of the video that had some decent music. You probably have not heard of any of these guys, but that doesn’t matter all that much. What they all have in common is the ability to shred the hell out of any bowl/ pool/ concrete park they can get their hands on. By the end of this video, I was craving a ‘crete park sesh myself. If you are looking for a breath of fresh air, head on over to skateboardermag.com and download this video.

Wall of Fame
Website of the Month: woodencotton.com
Quite possible one of the best things a small skate related company could ask for. Wooden Cotton is an idea I wish I had though of myself. It helps get the word out there about the little guys who might not have the advertising dollars to help promote themselves. Check this site out, and while you’re at it, help support the companies showcased within.

Employee of the Month: Chris Nieratko
This one goes out to Chris, the co-owner of NJ skateshop, one of the realest shops on the east coast. You may also know of him from the now defunct magazine “Big Brother”. He gets recognition this month for not being afraid of offending anybody within the skate industry. Of course, Chris had always been awesome like this, but his speech at the recent Adidas Tim O’Connor roast just served to remind me how awesome a fellow he is. Keep on doing what you’re doing, Chris.

Board Graphic of the Month: “Blank” by Skate Mental
Amid the whole blanks versus branded boards debate, Skate Mental finds a way to make fun of the entire industry’s quarrels by creating the “Blank” deck, a deck that literally just has the word blank written on it. If only the rest of the industry had this same sense of humor.

Failure
This award goes to Yocaher’s aluminum skateboards. In theory it’s a great idea. Unless you verge on breaking the 400 pound weight limit, these things are literally unbreakable. Of course, that is really the only thing these boards have got going for them, because if you’ve ever skated one, you’ll know that they suck away almost all of your pop, making regular everyday tricks seem like a chore. These things are also loud as hell. If the inability to perform basic tricks doesn’t bother you, the constant clanking of the deck against the trucks certainly will. So, to sum it all up, there’s a reason our boards are still made of wood. Save your $60 and buy yourself something nice.

Skate Trivia
1.What skate video contained the song “Ayo for Yayo” by Andre Nickatina?

2.Whose mega ramp did Danny Way do and El Camino body varial on for a sequence in Transworld?

3.What is the name of the newest company to be run out of Black Box Distribution?

4.How many pro model shoes has Danny Garcia had with eS footwear?

5.What board company does Ron Allen ride for?

Stumped yet? Don’t worry, because we’ll be revealing the answers to these questions in next month’s issue. Stay tuned.

The End
All good things must come to an end. This issue might not be any good, but it must come to an end as well. Fear not, though, because we promise to return next month with a few more tricks up our sleeves. As always, we would love to hear from all of our readers. You can drop us a line at [email protected]. If we receive enough emails on a regular basis, we will probably look into adding a letters section in the mag, and we might also have a separate section as well that is strictly devoted to questions that you choose to ask us. Thank you to everyone that has given us feedback of any kind, whether it be positive of negative. Good bye for now, and keep on skating.

I really dig your magazine and all, but i just got my first issue in the mail, and it didn't come with the free skate tool/one-size-fits-all beanie/one-size-fits-all t-shirt. What gives? You could've at least sent me a sticker pack or an iron-on decal to make my own shirt.

Does it make sense posting an online magazine or whatever you want to call it on another skateboard mag's website.
Isnt that a conflict of interest.
You know I almost felt bad for calling you out on your first post of this.
But now i just feel it was well deserved.

Who's on the imaginary cover, what are they doing, and will it be included in the next cover showdown?

Also, please include imaginary photo credits so it's all legit.

i guess since it is just the one post, the cover should just be a quote of that.  sure beats a fisheye below the handrail photo, a blurry powerslide or vov vurnquist,
