Title: Tricks that you hate
Post by: GIRL Workshop B on December 14, 2008, 08:29:52 AM
270 out of tailslides. Actually maybe not, I just hate it when some Greg Lutzka looking kid does a big heel tailslide or something tech around those lines and does a 270 out of it. What's the point? The trick you did was already pretty fucked why ruin it with a front 270 out? Is it going to make you look steezy or something?
And I have yet to see a good looking inward heel

50-50 to feeble/smith.  That doesn't count as a grind combo!

Also I saw sombody do a 50-50 ollie 50-50 nollie out at the skatepark.  Why would you ollie in the middle of a grind.

You mean like a 50-50 on a ledge, to gap 50-50 onto another ledge? Or just the same ledge and ollie in the middle of it?

any combo tricks that aren't proper or nicely executed are hardly ever visually pleasing. the 5050 fs smith fs feebs as fore mentioned. the crook to noseslide. i can't take anyone who does the 5-0 to tailslide variations etc including freddy gall..like why? ... lazy grinds on anything. grabs in grinds (crailing excluded) ..airwalks into slides. caveman tricks (that aren't jokes in video parts) ..stand still flip tricks into banks. god awful. even though patrick john did them- nollie frontside shuvit backside crooked grinds. they hurts my retinas.

any trick that involves a pop shove and a kickflip combined out of a smith grind looks dumb and is hardly ever smooth in my opinion. Flip ins are nice though

The same ledge.  It was so pointless, just busting out a high ollie during the middle of a grind.  Come to think of it though, I can't really hate on any tricks if they are executed properly.

Nosegrinds behind a ledge is cheap but blunt ones are fine. A switch F/S noseblunt to B/S noseblunt is still fucked whether it's behind the ledge or not.
im not saying its easy, but its definitely less difficult then doing it properly, it makes substantially easier id say

Fake bs Smiths, like when people just do a crooked 50-50 but take the front truck off.  Blunt fakies where people grab the nose and go in, unless they are joking it is just a lame way for people who don't know how to do blunt fakies the proper way .  Stinkbug indys, inward heels are gross 90% of the time, pressure flips, casper flips, willy grinds...

fuck thats one of my favorite tricks to do, mainly because i suck at tailslides and when i land them going fast they feel good.

I definetly am startin to get sick of seeing lipslide ledge combos, there was once a time where i would just a lipslide on a ledge was sick, now its gettin out of control.

Frontside 180 to slam down front then back truck on ledge, fraction of a second fakie 50-50 and then frontside halfcab out.
When a back halfcab out is done in place of the frontside one, these are sweet.

Also I know a dude that everytime I play him in skate does casper and nollie casper flips, I told him doug brown would be so proud, and he was surprised that I didn't think casper flips are the raddest trick ever.

I've never been a big fan of blunt or disaster tricks on tranny where there's no sliding - just the stall and then back in.

Weirdly, in recent years, the blunt to fakie (no sliding of course) has kinda become the go-to trick for street kids when theys skate pools or tranny.

Maybe they just feel good - I dunno, I've never done one.

Hey casper flips are fucking rad, in germany kids do them shits like no tomorrow, but speaking of doug brown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQa9ODfJCHI&feature=related the "impossible" blut made me never want to do impossibles again....

I just see a lot of people do them, and it just gets old.  I mean I know there are only so many tricks you can do, but it just seems like nollie back heel is one of those "safety tricks" (easy/looks good) for a stair set.
[/quote]

They did kind of get blown out for a minute as the hot trick but i wouldn't say it's because its an easy safety trick.  i would throw the nollie bigspin into that category though.

Only Reynolds can make varial heels look fucking sick. I fucking hate hate hate nollie varial heels, always see kids trying them down little 3-4 stairs thinking they're legit because it's nollie. Not many people can do good half cabs or cab flips, but they can be sick (antwuan). Untweaked backsmiths are lame. Also any trick that Chris Lambert ever did.

Yes. Why not? I consider reverting a full 180 on a trick that only turns 180 to begin with to be almost as bad as claiming a manny trick on flat.

Kickflips

One year ago, I fucked up my ankle a bit and now I have a small ''extra ankle.'' Itt doesn't hurt.
I slightly had to adjust my kickflips because I thought my ankle reacted a little slower.
Before it, I could kickflip all the time and they felt good.
These days I make 1 out of 20 with no speed and rolling over the ground.
It pisses me off so fucking much. It's all in my head. Everyday I hope that the first kickflip I try is a land. But I always miss the flip.

Does somebody recognise this? It makes me less fun to skate with.

I feel your pain! I've jacked my right ankle so many times that it takes it at least 15 minutes to warm up to even move and it gets sore after about an hour of skating.... Everybody told me to wear a brace but that was more restricting. I just rehab it every time after I skate anymore and hope for the best. Kickflips aren't a no-brainer anymore but I've gotten them back to feeling good and poppy again. Just remember skating is 90% mental 10% physical!

when people do 5-0s or nosegrinds or 50-50s straight on, specifically backside. I guess if you're trying to grind the entire thing it might be ok, but if the ledge doesn't have an end or you're popping out in the middle, you should come from the side. same thing for noseblunts.

fakie heels are pretty much my most proper flip trick down shit.  they look better than my nollie ones.  i agree though, you rarely ever see pro's do them in parts or anything in the popular skate media.

That one Jake Johnson does in Mind Field Down the Brooklyn banks 9 was butter. 2:20

fakie bigsping inward heels or halfcab inward heels, whatever you wanna call them. I've been seeing them a lot lately and it's just a good example of just because something is difficult doesn't mean you should do it.
