i just got a set of lightly skated 139's with bones mediums in 'em from some guy at the park. the indy's with bones don't seem to turn as well as the indy's with indy bushings i had set up before my last pair of thunders. whats the deal with that?
-
Are the bushings on correctly? Are both your truck's kingpins facing each other when on your board? Did you tighten your trucks to the point of no return?
-
did you take off the bottom washer? because you should. but make sure to leave one between the nut and the top bushing

I learned about doing this about a year ago, it is unfathomably important
-
everything is fine. bottom washer removed, top one on etc. the trucks are loose, the board leans but doesn't turn the way i remember indy's turning
-
the bushings probably aren't broken in all the way yet. give it some time
-
It's because they bounce back super fast, and medium bones are probably harder than the normal indy bushings.
-
yeah...indy bushings are mushy and don't rebound...so when you turn, it stays turning....this may be mistakened for turning well....
i've skated indy bushings for years and liked them....i now skate bones and like them more....
-
agreed... just switched over to bones in my indys and although they arent fully broken in yet i noticed that they seem to turn a little sharper but then bounce back hella fast, it actually bounced me out of a few tricks at first

If any help.

i ride bone busing on the front trucks(the white one)
and indy bushing on the back
the bones are definitely stiffer

I need to get a set of the soft ones... the mediums don't feel right until the kingpin nut is pretty much half on/half off for me... it's hanging on there, and once i grind down the kingpin a bit it won't move anywhere, but it's a little sketchy. First week I had them in my truck fell apart on the way back from the beer store. Saved all the beers and miraculously found all the bushings and shit... this was the second or third trip to the store, so that was a pretty great feat.

Will indy 139's stick out on a 7.75"?

Yes, get up to atleast 8 before you get 139's.
-
I've skated 7.75s with 139s, didn't stick out. was flush with the side of the board.
-
Thanks for the info. I currently have some 129 stage 7 or 8's and on a 7.75", it feels like a hoverboard. Gotta get new indy's soon as these are pretty much toast and seeing as boards are getting wider and wider, I'll eventually move up to an 8 at some point.
