Title: Truck Rotation
Post by: HubbaAdsGiveMeBoners on August 13, 2010, 07:33:52 AM
So when you put your truck on do you always keep them in the same spot i.e. front truck always on front, or do you rotate them.

I tend to always rotate them to keep the wear even, it starts off feeling kind of weird but that never lasts very long.

Back is always the back, and front is always the front.  Same with my deck, I always skate the tail and for switch always skate off the nose.

might start doing this. i do so many five ohs on tranny that i always grind my back truck to the point that the kingpin nut is destroyed.

my back truck always ends up way looser, and it's a pain messing with them if I switch.  Back is always back, front is always front.

Rotate with every new setup. Used to skate some shitty trucks which ended being softer when turning left (regular stance) and harder when turning right.

Have you ever jumped on your board when it's backwards and noticed how weird and unnatural it felt? Front is front, back is back.

probably a dumb question

but if your trucks roll crooked, and make your board go to one direction, how's the best way to fix that?

i always keep my front truck the front one and my back truck the back so i know it's not that

I keep the back truck a little tighter than the front one.

I once saw an article in tws where pro's talked about how tight their trucks were and I think arto saari said the back one a little tighter. My hero was arto saari so that's the reason

yes. And I don't know if it's a mental thing but from my experience I can say that if you tighten your back truck a little bit, your pop becomes more accurate and harder...truck rotating never came to my mind, it's just messing up the turning

Haha, same.
Whippersnappers with there rotatinatin'.

I ride my back trucks significantly looser than my front. People tend to not like the way my board feels when they step on it.

I rotate them every time I setup a new board and it feels good man.

i used to have my back truck tight and the front truck loose for a good year or so but it just made things feel way too weird when i'd roll fakie or something, so i just focus on trying to have them at equal tightness, though (naturally) the back one gets a bit looser.

For me, front is front, back is back. The tail acts as the nose when skating switch. Everyone has their own formula, I guess.

that would bug the hell out of me,
big nasty crook stains on the front truck and then having using that for front fives?
gross man.

Surprised there were multiple responses of people who ride their back truck looser than the front.  Typical late 80's/early 90's set-up was front looser, back tighter.

When I get new trucks they start out the same.  But within a couple days, the back starts getting a lot looser, and that's just how I'm used to it.   I never adjust them after that.

I don't care which truck is the front or the back, when setting up a new deck I just throw on the truck I grab first, it seems all the same, especially skating nose and tail, I can just throw down the board and skate with no problem.

Skate 'em looser!

I keep the front the front and the back the back. The front is just a bit looser.

I have to put the front truck on the front and the back truck on the back.  And both of my trucks have to be exactly the same in terms of looseness.  I'm kinda OCD

I never rotate my trucks. I'm pretty OCD about them. Also, I keep my bushings forever. I'm actually so OCD about my bushings, that when I get a new set, after they break in and feel "settled in" my trucks, I take a permanent marker and draw a dot on the front of each bushing. That way, when I have to put them into new trucks, I know exactly how they were sitting in the previous set.

even though the back gets looser over time, i try to keep em even.  i switch em up whenever the difference between the trucks get to be so much that i can visually see a marked difference in the placement of the kingpin nut.  whatever it takes to keep it even as possible.

Im pretty sure rotating your trucks is against most city laws.  I would never do it and I do not encourage others to do so.
