I have been told by a very reliable source that Mr. Dixon had a ton of small shit he hasn't taken care of and recently punched a girl at a skatepark while under the influence of many drugs. As a result he will be doing a year in prison. Can't say I didn't see it coming

Everyone's responsible for their own actions, but every single one of the dudes supporting that kid's self destruction should give themselves a cock punch. From watching Later'd, I think it's shitty that all these dudes that have "been there, done that" didn't have the balls to intervene... or god forbid suspend him or find some other way to put him on time out until he got his shit together. His brother went to jail, they were close so he's probably not feeling good about that situation. Also the environment he grew up in was probably shitty. And to add, he's a pro skater...basically can do whatever he wants, no schedule, basically no real boss, etc.

Young skater, talented as fuck, covered with face tattoos who has a knack for saying unforgettable phrases.... oh and he's gotten a taste for booze and drugs? ? Well fuck yeah, if it means sales! ? From what I have heard, his sponsors have helped him get into rehab, i believe close to a year ago. The problem was he got out and they threw him a party at Baker Boys offices/warehouse where there were kegs of beer, and no doubt enough drugs to OD on twice over. You've got those dudes who "have been thru it" and figure, "oh he'll figure it out on his own, just like I did", but the difference with Antwuan is he's got so many more reasons not to give a fuck and either OD and die, or kill someone else in one of his drunken rages. It's sad, he's very talented, but I think unfortunately for him he was sponsored by companies who thrive on the image he provides. Dollin, Braydon, Greco, Reynolds, Heyl.....all dudes who have marketed their disease to kids who look up to them. What would Baker be without the weed/beer/stoner graphics that are in heavy rotation over there? I'm not hating on Baker or those dudes in any way, I love what their doing, and laugh along with the rest of the skateboarding community. The only difference is I looked up to them and laughed and knew I didn't want to be like them, where most kids want to BE them....

I've always been of the mindset that his sponsors should have taken less of an enabler role but there's a few flaws in that reason.
1. Who's to say they aren't helping him the best they can?
2. Just because it's their company image, it's not their responsiblity to keep everyone (especially an adult) from abusing it.

Yeah I'm not psyched on super preachy god loving people that are all up in your face with it but in Hosoi's case I'd rather see a spiritual healthy and shredding Holmes than a strung out scheming ice head non-skating Holmes, obviously his life is way better now because of his born again-ness.
I mean that whole finding god as a last resort in prison thing is kind of a cop out in my opinion but if it works for some people and makes them not be a fuck up anymore when they get out, more power to them.
Hopefully Antwuan doesn't need any of that and just uses his time incarcerated (if he is indeed going in) productively and use it as motivation when he gets out to never have to go back in again.

Yes, Baker/Deathwish are enablers, but in their defense, everybody I know that has gone through rehab or AA or anything of the sort has told me that you can only make that decision for yourself. I know plenty of people that have gone through rehab at their parents' or the law's request and end up back on it a couple months later.

Some of you need to learn how to be more kind. Seriously. Jail/Prison is not rehabilitating and granted, the dude has a spotty record and done some dumb shit. In a nutshell he was arrested Nov 10 for a felony crime. Then sentenced to 1 year in county jail or prison. But they usually let you out earlier than that. The projected release date is 7-04-11. Looks like he might be staying in county but he could very well be there til they ship him to prison, depends on where the judge sentenced him to. Felonies usually land you in prison.
Oh well no one should be surprised. Judging from that epicly later'd episode it was bound to happen. Hopefully he gets his shit together afterwards, but I think this dude is fighting bigger demons. As far as Baker/ Deathwish is concerned who knows what they have done or tried to do, they obviously were not willing to say much, which is cool for the sake of privacy. But if they have in fact been enabling this guy, shame on them. But then again Antwuan is a grown ass man so its all on him. Being that the brother he looks up to is in the slam as well, Antwuan might not give a fuck about this. This dude might come out more hardened than before.

I think jail will do Dixon some good. Although I believe way too many people go to jail over some bullshit, Dixon was walking a thin line for a while. And unlike other street niggas who have been given up on by society a long time ago, Dixon has a career and fans to look forward to when he gets out.

Once in county and even more so in prison ( at least in Cali) you stick mostly with your race. The white and Mexican gang usually team up against the black gangs. The Mexican Mafia had an edict out against Black gangs in the streets, so the blacks and mexican gangs were and probably still are going at it in the LA streets. And to whoever was talking about bloods/crips/mexican gang thing is actually kind of dead on. Latino gangs, including Mexican gangs have been taking over areas traditionally controlled by African American gangs. In fact, Latinos overall are taking over areas that used to be overwhelmingly black overall, not just in the criminal world. There is A LOT of racial tension in LA over this. It sucks too, because both groups have the same mountain to climb if they are fighting over who controls a street filled with tattered shacks in Compton.
The thing about the whole bloods/crips thing is that I'm pretty sure that the overall feud is over. Also, its not like there is one unified "bloods" and "crips." Most of those gangs are split up into sets or cliques in local areas, often times relating to a street. The people in the cliques are mostly concerned with local issues and rivalries with other local sets that often relate to local interactions. Often times two crews under the crip umbrella will have beef with each other, it may not have always been this way, but there is no real central control these days. Another interesting fact: there are FAR more crips than bloods.

There's overwhelming evidence that people who are put in prison for drug possessions come out worse than before and is not helpful. Rehab is the key to fixing this problem. Also realize the environment he grew up in and who he's around.

Can't you say that about a lot of pros? Companies used to run old photos for ads all the time, even though guys hadn't skated in a year, because they are piles, or had knee surgeries or whatever.
Anyways, 8 months won't kill him, hopefully. I hope he comes back, motivated and ripping. Or he'll be the next in a long line of huge pros that faded out in under two years. It's nothing new either way.

i dont know, watching that epicly later'd it seemed like reynolds and antwan aren't that close. he did mention he only talks to him occasionally and something about how he'd only have to film a few tricks and he could make money ass a pro skater for a 'really long time'.

antwan as a marketing gimmick is undeniable and i do think it's possible that theyd let this nigga slip throgh the cracks indefinately-i'd hope not but even the recent tharsher first look was telling when Lizard made the sarcastic comment about antwan having a lot of footage. at this point i do kinda question the family aspect of the bakerboys or whatever-at least in terms of antwan being a close member.
I think for the most part, they do try to keep that family aspect going. But if Antwuan hasn't been out skating, which he obviously hasn't from all the stories going around, then he's sort of removed himself from the Baker/Deathwish family. I'm sure they cared about him on a personal level a lot when he first got on the team. But people drift away from each other. And it seems to me that those guys don't really have a whole lot to do with Antwuan anymore. Is that his fault, or the Baker guys fault...who knows?? But either way, he isn't around anymore. And like I said, out of sight, out of mind.

I don't know what's going on an no offense I don't think anybody cares. But going by your guy's word on him not having as many board graphics as the other dudes, maybe his sales are generally down. If his sales were up and he was going to jail then fuck it, sell his boards if shit is moving. That would entail what you guys are saying that they are just making money off his image.
But if his sales are down, then cut back some of the graphics. That makes sense.
If that is the case, his sales are down, AND he is going to jail; then this would be an indication of a massive downward spiral of one of the most stylish dudes having a 15 minutes of fame type career.
Cannot wait to hear the verdict. And to see the Deathwish video...

i heard from a reliable source that antwuan dixon was released from jail on his prior conviction went over to baker boys distribution to pick up his money and received a check, he then went to the bank and asked for it all in cash, they gave it to him and he started yelling in the bank "i got money bitches" and more bullshit like that they called the cops and he was arrested.
Baker boys dist i heard is also putting half the money he gets into a retirement account for dixon and he can only receive it at a certain age

I don't think they came directly into Seattle, maybe, but the demo was at Oak Harbor. Anyways, 'Twuan was getting taken around spots and supposedly he was getting totally fucking buck, getting footage. On some gigantic switch heel, he hurt his ankle that is why he was getting wasted at the Oak Harbor demo. I don't remember the spots my friend told me specifically, but to see Antwuan footage on some rough ground would be so epic. I bet he logged a ton of footage before getting locked up, (in Cali, or wherever).
