Title: Dorky/Weird Trick Appreciation
Post by: shianto340 on February 01, 2011, 12:48:23 AM
Sometimes seeing the same standard tre flip, front side flip and Nollie heels get a little old. I think it's time that dorky tricks, like casper flips, or pressure flips or any number of tricks people usually roll their eyes at, should be appreciated. Don't be hating just  because it gets you a letter in SKATE.

Favorite wacky/weird/dorky trick?

Not ashamed to admit I still like one-footed ollies (ollie norths). They feel kinda good when you really kick the foot out there & maybe do em over something large. Plus, I can pretty much always get someone a letter in skate with them. They're stupid easy, but for some reason most kids seem not to be able to do em.

Back 180 version is fun too...

I got two really shitty ones. Mute grab pop and roll to a curb yank over via nose. Instantly become "that guy." hheeeeeeyyy  8)

I love one-footed ollies. How do you do them? Because I cannot figure them out for the life of me.

i LOVE dorky tricks, i have so much more fun just doing stupid little things like ollie norths, no-comply impossables, boneless bigspins, shuvit reverts etc. than trying a "propper" trick down some stairs or whatever.

my tip for one foot ollies is rather than slide your foot up the deck and catching the nose, just kick the nose a little bit and keep your foot going past it, this way it levels the ollie and lets you get a fairly high ollie north. works for me at least

i freaking love one footed ollies. i found if i bone my ollie by lifting my back foot higher than usual they come together pretty easily. i'm also a huge fan of impossibles, i personally dont consider them a dork trick but i know many do. pressure flips of all variations get some weird looks. I actually like bs pressure flips way more than i should. front foot impossibles are fun but hard as fuck. i have a ton of late flip and shuv late flip tricks which bring me a bit joy no matter how sketchy. I am also known to bust out a little freestyle every now and then simply because its fun and a nice little break from serious street skating.

I kinda figure I'm never going pro or even getting sponsored so fuck it, I dont want to always be really serious and do whats 'core' or whatever. I'll do all the shitty little tricks i want.

sweepers on small transition, and all of the variations(bs, creeper, bs creeper)  switch 360 bonelesses, wallies(fs and bs), wallride to fakie, one foot ollies of course, late shoves, tail drops into shit, or just off of shit... Not cool at all, but all of those are so much fun to do... And thats what skateboarding is about... Well... That and looking cool... Of course, if you do any of these and think they are anything but dork tricks, or if you dont laugh at yourself after you do em, then they are pretty lame... Nothing worse than the kid stressing about not landing that boneless fingerflip or 360 flip body varial

They should be dork tricks for anyone.  A good rule of thumb is if it flips late, you dont pop, or it flips more than once, it is a dork trick.

seems like you care too much what others are going to think.
no matter whats going on in your life, no one will care more than you.  the way you dress, the way you look, the way you skate, people might say something about it but you're the one that will care the most, not them.
live life on your terms, focus on being a real/genuine person and you'll be happier in life as well as those around you.
just some life advice, up to you if you want take it or throw it away.

i have tons of dork tricks, we should film ourselves doing our favorite ones and post them here.

Ha i simply meant that theyre meant to just be fun and not nesescarily worked for, not true though as i spent about half an hour yesterday learning no-comply impossibles.

but i like that man, propper good advice, i prety much already live by that philosophy along with "happiness is the most important thing".

also a "SLAP dork montage" of sorts would be rad
