It was spur of the moment for the most part, Joe Brook took me there after telling him I wanted to do that trick on something big. We got booted the first few attempts, but came back later that same day and got it. Thanks for the positive words!

Thats good you wanna hurt yourself i guess!? thanks. Metallica is rad, i really like there old stuff. Localism in Santa Cruz isn't much different then a lot of places, Santa Cruz just happens to be a melding pot as well as provide cultural clash. It sucks when as a established, mainly self sustained community your forced to live down your means because some greedy landlord or .com-er or corporation wants a piece, leaving "us" locals to struggle at times. The environment plays a big roll too. Some people just don't know how to respect it. I've grown away from those angry feelings towards "outsiders" and realized that these things are inevitable, and it's usually better to get along then not. Skating requires an open mind.

To tell you the truth I'm not computer savy at all! I've had some down time lately and figured this is a good way to spend it. Slap is tight and there's probably more am/pros on here then you think. This is one of the sickest things to me. Two pros with separate but equally amazing approaches to skateboarding sharing a mutual respect for one another and being stoked on each other's skating. This is what skateboarding is, no matter the level you do it at. Just fucking awesome.
Also, Emmanuel, I've always pictured you as one of those guys that can do a trick if he imagines that he can. Do you ever really battle with tricks, or do you generally get them pretty quick?

It will be a while before there's another DAF vid finished, but there's always one in the works, the crew is steady shreddin and documentin!
I don't really have one favorite place that I've traveled but Japan always stands out as one of my favorites, and Peru also! Both are amazing! Guess I'll just have to keep looking!

It's kinda random, but Crazy Eddie Nemeth was one of my favorite dudes to skate with ever! He was so spastic and unpredictable and just straight raw. he'd slam sooo fukn hard and just laugh.
I've always been a fan of thrash metal bands like Slayer and Suicidal but as time goes on my musical taste has grown tons. I like classic country, and latin jazz , reggae, and just about everything between.
I went to Skatopia once during the Independent 30th year anniversary tour and the only words to describe it would be, "Beautiful Chaos"!

That's tight you were there, I had fun at that demo actually! The ramps were kinda beat but it made for some sketchy excitement! Boulder is beautiful, and the streets are as comfortable as it gets! The owner of Meta was super cool and hospitable, much respect!

It is kind of in the middle of nowhere road trip wise for some of them, but we got some airports too! haha. I know Koston held up the Beauty and The Beat tour for an extra day so he could skate Ketchum, Idaho since he flew in later than the other dudes.

What's up man! Osmar doesn't do anything for Santa Cruz anymore, but I always thought he was funny as shit too! Yes it's true , Raven is officially off Creature and on Chocolate. It's all good though, he's a great skater and amazing person and will be fine in whatever he does, I have his back no matter what, and so does everyone at Creature!
I'd have to say that if I had to pick one favorite spot to skate in Santa Cruz, it would be Derby. I'm sure that some people would disagree about it being the "best" spot in SC, but it's always a good time!

I love all of Jim Phillips art, and the screaming hand is enduring as are a bunch of his graphics. There is a guy that I would see at derby every once in awhile who skated like Julien Stranger. He has a neck tattoo and looks tough as fuck. One time he rode up on his cruiser and stuck his knife in the spokes. He does shuv-it lips and slappy front boards going fast as hell on the slider at the top of the snake run. Do you know who I'm talking about or anything about this guy? I think he's my favorite skateboarder...

In 'Prevent this Tragedy', I was stoked to see you skating the 'Swiss Banks' (they have also been skated by Jeff Hedges and Claus Grabke in 'Streets on Fire' back in the day). I also skated these banks a lot when I was younger, as I live in the same town about 2 miles away from them. I was just wondering how you liked them and if you got kicked out while you were filming there. If yes, how was your reaction to the security guard. You are one of the pros who made me start skating again after so many years (I originally started in '84). Greetings from Switzerland! :)

We never got kicked out from the spot, and were able to film as long as we wanted, minus some rain. I love that spot! It is one of the most incredible places i've ever seen! I will skate them again, I have too! Greetings back at you from SC!
