Jerk off.

Or stare into you closed eyes in the blackness and pretend you're dreaming and hopefully you'll fade into one you forget.

A man wrote a letter to the IRS:
I have been unable to sleep knowing that I cheated on my taxes. I understated my taxable income.
Enclosed is a check for $150. If I still can't sleep, I'll send the rest.

Eat something fatty - swear to god this will knock you out. 2 tablespoons of peanut/almond butter will do the trick, add a glass of milk and your fucking g. Sorry if I'm late on this one.

Cold shower will also do it.

Weed and masturbation and wake up REALLY early the day you need to fall asleep early.  And then smoke weed and masturbate again.

i've been successful and going to bed earlier, but not waking up earlier?  :(

your body works in 4 hour cycles (during sleep) so its all about how long you sleep for, you will feel nice and refreshed if you sleep for 8 hours. and belive it or not its better to sleep for 4 hours than 6 due to these cycles.

this is also why most people wake up in the middle of the night for a drink/piss because its usually at the end of the 1st 4 hour cycle

Something I do that is kind of counter intuitive but has been way more successful than purposefully closing my eyes is actually TRYING to keep them open. I inevitably can't and it puts me out.

That's what I did when I was a little kid, I'd just never want to go to sleep so I'd just stare at the wall or some shit for as long as I could and then I wouldn't know what happened.
Maybe I should do this again more. Except when I do it know I find myself staring at light sources.

I hate when you're just about to fall asleep after struggling and you think to yourself, "yes, just about there", which inevitably wakes you back up.
I have a hard time getting to sleep more often than not, but marijuana definitely helps.

The worst is when you're about to fall asleep watching TV so you put the timer on, and when the TV turns off, you can't fall asleep.

Get off your laptop/comp

It is like being outside in bright daylight, at least to your body.

any other pals use this tool? takes a bit to get used to but it is amazing to say the least.

That makes slap have kind of a red tinge to it, but I'll try it for a few days. I'm already more tired than I was before I started it.

As far as getting yourself to sleep, think about all of the things that you need to do, but can't right now ecause its the middle of the night. If that doesn't work, think about how important it is that you fall asleep soon because of how tired you will be the next day. Look at the clock and calculate how many hours you have left to sleep before your alarm goes off, also, consider how long you have been lying in bed without sleeping. Ever wonder what it feels like to pass from consciousness to sleep? Focus on that as you lie in bed. Try to move around a lot, sometimes it takes a lot of tossing and turning to find the right sleeping position.

But honestly, a great method to helping sleep come that hasn't been mentioned yet is to try and squeeze out a good solid shit. If you can take a real good shit, something about it will put you to sleep. I've had insomnia cured on numerous occassions by walking to the bathroom and forcing a solid one out.

This seems like the worst advice, but maybe that's just me. If I can't sleep, the last thing I think about is things I'm not able to do. That stresses me out, making it even harder to sleep. And I have a personal rule: never look at what time it is, another thing that stresses me out. Having said that, maybe those things work for some people, but definitely that sounds like my anti-sleep method.
