Who's running one?
-
No..
-
Sure am.
-
I once had to take a shit in a public restroom and the only stall that wasn't gross had a door with a broken hinge. I took off my shoelace belt and tied the door shut. Thank you shoelace belt.
-
i just recently realized that the regular belt i am wearing usually is over 5 years old. no reason to buy a new one if you get a free "belt" with every shoe.
-
I can't rock it.
-
steady for the last 13 years
-
It looks sooo gay when its all long, but when you tie it like a shoelace, ehhh its k i guess..
-
i do on a couple of trousers, mostly because im too lazy to find where my belt is and change it to the trousers i wanna wear
-
lace belt is soooo 2002.
-
Just retired the shoe lace belt about 2 months ago. It had a good run though, I'd say close to 10 years.
-
if its a necessity and i cant find my actual belt which ive had since 8th grade modified baseball.

On and off for around ten years, mostly off. As I grew older I started to realize that you're basically yelling, "Hey! Pay attention to me! Look at my crotch! I'm unorthodox!"
-
I hung it up a year or two ago. Around the same time I started only wearing black socks. I agree with ^him. I still wear tie dye so I gotta have some grown up elements to my outfits.
-
I wear belts for the purpose of keeping my pants up. I dunno what you guys think they're for...
-
A black and brown belt is all you need, I need my laces for me shoes.

orang utans dont wear shoes. also, they dont write on message boards. crazy ape.

I like that shoelacebelts are inexpensive, and hurt less to fall on... but they never "stay". I ended up spending more time tying my belt than skating. If they can come up with a shoelacebelt that stays in place then I will relinquish my pant securing duties to a shoe lace once again.

i found the exact opposite, ive got a perma-shoelace-belt on one of my trousers and last week a shoelace snapped so i was gonna replace it with my shoelace-belt but for the life of me i couldnt untie it.
try this, tie a double knot and pull it hard as fuck, put the trousers through the washing machine and the water/soapy shit should make that knot prety solid
-
A perma-fastened belt? That sounds crazy.
Do you just force your pants on and off? Must be annoying.
Do you pee through the fly? Super annoying.
Don't you ever feel the need to adjust based on how you're positioned? There's definitely a one notch difference between going to skate and sitting down for a meal.
I don't think I could go through life like that.
-
my jeans fit so i don't need a belt still spending grams just to hold up my pants
-
i remember that i had to chuckle when i saw this a few years ago.

works fine, yes i do just pull my pants on and off, the belt just sits on my hips, to piss ill just pull then down a bit because theyre button fly anyway, cant be undoing all those buttons in time
-
I'm a huge fan of the shoestring belt, but then, the first video I ever bought was Yeah Right!, so who knows how valid my opinion is. After experimenting with a few different techniques, I found a way to tie it such that it's adjustable, and even on both ends. It doesn't typically hang super long either, but just enough. it works kind of like a drawstring, so when it loosens when you're skating, you just pull one end and it's all good!

If you're over 18 a shoe lace belt is unacceptable.

Generally skaters can look like complete twats and its fine because we look so stupid on our boards anyway and (in most cases) we do much gnarlier shit than everyone else just for fun so our attire gets a free pass
-
yeah, but do you really want to look like a 12 year old?
-

by riding a skateboard its allready a bit too late for that, i mean im only 20 but i still get people saying "what youre still skating? bit old for that arent you?"
-
I never understood the point of these. A real belt isn't expensive.

Balls to that!! I rock mine all the time. I save the belt for when I'm dressing to impress... which is practically never. I'm waaaaaaaay the fuck older than 18 too! Hahaha!

They're convenient when you're actually skating.

Convenient how? My normal belt hasn't ever affected my skating.

The only use for a shoe lace belt is if you are prone to ripping a lace every time you go out skating. If you have that problem, Shoe Goo will solve it instantly. In fact, someone should start a Shoe Goo appreciation thread.
And for anyone complaining about how expensive belts are, I gots a solution for that too. Go into a thrift store. Go to the belt section. Pick out a belt. Put chosen belt through belt loops. Fasten belt. Walk out thrift store. If that's too nerve racking for you, just pay the one clam fee at the counter.

What the guy above me just said in his first sentence is one example. My friend ripped his lace the other day and I gave him my shoe lace belt. Another example is when you fall and the metal of the belt makes the fall hurt more like when you put keys in your back pocket. But I guess not everyone wears metal belts.

I suppose. But if you give somebody your shoe string won't your pants be falling down? I'm not trying to be a dick, to each his own. Just wondered why people didn't go and buy a real one.

My buddy, who is in his 40's and RIPS said to me one day at the skatepark:
"I'm just now discovering what the 12-year olds have known all along - the shoelace belt. That shit makes sense."
Slamming on a leather belt leaves one crazy looking bruise.
-
I'm allergic to whatever metal belt buckles are made of, so if I'm sitting down for a good amount of time, the buckle creeps towards my stomach and gives me this unbearable rash. So I either don a short, black shoelace belt (which I don't really mind, but don't necessarily want to resort to), or wear my belt like Bam Margera. If anyone knows where I can buy a leather belt with a wooden or any non-metal buckle, I'd apreesheeate it.

could it be that you?re allergic to nickel? do you get rashes when you wear rings (not that i want you to start wearing them..) or metal watches? because that might be it. in that case, search for "nickel-free" belts-buckles, they shouldnt be too hard to get.
if you already heard that tip, sorry for wasting your time.

I am allergic to nickel, and I never thought to type that into Google. I'm fucking lazy. Just found a bunch of sites, thanks hombre.

I'm 33 and still wear a shoelace belt. I'm a hairy beast and when I wear a belt the buckle tangles in my happy trail.

Not one Jereme Rogers shoestraaaaang joke?

LOL you're on some grown, man shit, eh? I hear that, tho! Having a shoestring belt is like having someone intentionally yanking your pants down.. They are unreliable to the fullest! Also, I hate having to undo a knot to take my pants off... effing bullpoo

I started wearing shoelaces for belts at 18.
-
EVERY DAMN DAY
they hold my pants up perfectly and i tuck the excess lace down my pants when there's too much dangle.
I fully endorse the shoelace belt; normal belts are ok too but as i grow older im starting to appreciate the simplicity of the string.
-
One of the nice things about them is you can just leave the string in your pants when you put them through the wash. I never have to put a belt on or take one off. It's just simpler. Tie and go.
-
I normally wear a regular belt, but it hurts when your landing those big drops and have to bend over. Shoelace belts are cool and all, I just never need to wear them
-
doesn't hold your pants up. get a belt.
if you actually tie it correctly it works just the same.

not exactly, my shirt covers it so no one knows its there.

the shoelace belt increases skating ability, i thought this was common knowledge?
for people who didnt want to look 12, riding a skateboard negates all your attempts at this, society will never deem you mature when in association with a skateboard.

shoelace for skating.
Regualr belt when not skating.

It's cool until someone bends down and people think it is a g string or some shit.

when i read "for me shoes" i went back and read your whole post in a funny kind of leprechaun voice. thanks for the giggle

i got one sometimes, but i think alot of people just wear it for style

You could be right...
I can't wear a normal belt while skating now after years of shoe lace belt action.
Just feels right.

Same here. I don't think I could ever skate with a belt.

Hahaahahaha

They undo to easily
-
Shoelace belt is great when skating, especially when it's hot. A leather belt is so fucking muggy skating.
But when not skating I usually wear a normal brown leather belt .
please hide the ends of the lace somewhere and don't let it hang under your shirt.

Always a good tool to pack jays and blunts!

If the pants need a belt, then I use something called shock cord and a cord lock. Basically it's the type of elastic cord and the locks that you find on some jackets.
I did however use shoelaces for a few years until I found shock cord.
-
I use to when I was younger but now it just seems to bother me whenever I wear one.

Tim O'Connor talking about staying over at his friends' house:
(Galesi = the friends' last name)
"I remember one time I was over their house so long that I ran our of clothes to wear so I borrowed some shorts from an older Galesi named Max. They were too big and I needed a belt. I was hanging out with Christian, the one that was my age, and he couldn't find a belt for me so he yanked a weed out of the ground and told me to use that. A couple of hours later we were out skating his ramp and the shorts were holding up fine. I told Christian that the weed was working great. He was like, 'I know, these things are great,' then he lifted up his shirt to show me he was running the same belt too."
(Skateboarder, July 2001)
-
is it wrong to wear one because you think they look cool?
not that i do, or anything.......just, ya know, curious...
-
the shoelace belt is the most lightweight option when it comes to keeping your pants on tight. i can skate with a regular belt but the shoelace belt its just feels more like some skater shit. it just works really, shoe lace belts have never let me down
-
I have one belt for all of my pants-a leather dickies. the weight or whatever you want to call it has never been a problem-just adapt
-
Dumb trend.
"I can't skate with a regular belt."
Fucking, really?
Boy Scout belt when skating, regular one elsewhere.
The biggest trends are often the dumbest.
You can buy pants with a shoelace included. Take the hint. That's stupid.
Why the scout belt? They're the shittiest web belt I've ever owned ::)
-
Always a good tool to pack jays and blunts!

You can also land on your skateboard, have your shirt fly up and not look like you're wearing a thong.
i thought that was part of the appeal ::)
-
brown leather belt 24/7. been wearing the same one for about 3 years
-
i stopped wearing a shoe lace belt and now i feel like i could never go back
