I know there's a million of these already but this is a bit urgent and I figure this will get looked at more than an old bumped thread. We're in SF for another week or so and are looking to skate these spots. If anyone can help out that would be awesome. Thanks. I'll post some more if I think of them.

second one (steps busenitz bluntslid) is on steiner and i believe mcallister, if not it's like a block or so away, but is on Steiner for sure.
the 3rd one(red ledge to bank) is right by my house, it's in the excelsior at corpus christi church, corner of Santa Rosa and alemany

naw, i didn't just say that or anything.
my bad, didn't see your post.
I forgot where spot #1 is, only been there once.
-
it's in North Beach somewhere not sure exactly.
-
it's right by the green tortoise.
-
Just a warning that the street gap in north beach (#1) is most definitely on the SFPD's radar now. If you stay for more than a couple tricks, they'll be on your ass with a very expensive ticket, and they're not nice about it - apparently the people who live at that house are a bit fed up.
So, like all spots in SF: hit it and roll on.
-
Alright thanks a lot for the warning, I think we'll avoid that one.

Not really that hard, but you're forced to pop super close to the ledge due to skinny runup. The bank is mellow but I've seen friends get tossed down it to drop which is usually more funny than scary.

san leandro. by costco. there is a sac one that looks familiar, i think, never found it when i was there.

So we went here the other day..
But the gates were all closed and it seemed the only way in there was to walk through the actual school which seemed pretty sketch. So how do you guys skate there? Do they open the gates up on weekends or do you just hop the fence? Being from MN I don't really know how the California school yard thing works.
And one more.

Anyone know how glen park is for skating, it looks like there could be some fun stuff besides bart station.
-
Glen park is sick. The bart station is fun and there are a lot of cool hill spots around.
The street gap is on Greenwich, right before it dead ends.
If you go to lincoln skate the hills nearby. SUPER fun, some of the most fun hills in the city, not too gnarly either, just long downhills with a bunch of houses along the side.

this thread is fucking awesome and makes me wanna go to SF for a week. props to all you guys for sharing. ive never really released my identity on here but I run a little website in Charlotte NC, www.charlotteskate.com (http://www.charlotteskate.com), and i have all the spots in town on a google map with a little blurb and eventually a screencap/photo of them all(the maps growing slowly). stokes me out to see others sharing spots, its always rad to get to a new city and have some skaters down to help each other out. if you guys are ever in NC, hit me up and i'll make sure you're taken care of.

What are some good/mellow spots around the Santa Cruz area?

Didn't want to create a whole other SF thread so I'm just going to put my question in this one:
Want to take a one week vacation ~October, and was just wondering about a decent hotel to stay at that's near a couple rad spots. Would like to keep it <$80 a night if possible.

Green Tortoise is cheap if you qualify to stay there. San Remo is great too, for about $80-90 a night. I'll be staying there this weekend myself, actually.

ledge is in san leandro, in the cuts behind costco.

Ha why is this thread still alive. We didn't get much keepers from these spots either, but thanks for the locales.
And 3rd and army from the east bay is as follows:
Take the BART to SF. Get off at the embarcadero. Go to the muni train level (Go up the stairs to the main level from bart, enter the muni from there). Take the T going outbound, or towards sunnydale. Get off at Marin St, and cross the street of the direction you had been going (should be a big red building). Continue to the south to the bridge and there should be a hole in the fence lining this red building. 3rd and army is right there. If you can't get around the fence somehow, you should still be able to see the spot behind the fence, just go back past the muni stop a bit to the first street and go down that and take the first left and there you go.
Sorry for the long as shit response, if you can't find it after such detail I've provided, I'm sorry.

Could anyone direct me to one of the previous SF travel threads? Having trouble wading through the nonsense to find a good one! Going to be out there for 5 days in mid-January and need to get our agenda together! Thanks!

Next September i'm having a gap year before University and wanted to go to SF for 2 weeks-1 monthish at some point during the year depending on money. I currently live in England and have never been to California before so I was basically wondering like others above, cheap hotels/hostels near skatespots? nightlife? restaurants? bars? need to start doing a lot of research if i'm going to be going.

Where are the streets they skate in Animal Chin, with all the little bumps over the stair sets? I know it's Sunset/Richmond area, but would like to narrow it down a bit so I don't spend all day looking.

The library is now pretty much completely unskateable except for the 4 stair. Bummer.

people found those spots by skating the city, if you want a spot, start from scratch like everyone else. telling everyone where everything is is just going to get them shut down.
i'm gonna tell everyone where everything is and shut the whole damn city down.

Spending all day looking for a spot in the avenues is more fun than just finding it, trust me.
Actually, I've always wanted to find that street from Chin too...:)

Thanks guys, but we found it and went there. None of us were really feeling it but people were skating it since we went on a sunday. I kind of want to go back and boneless in to it but I dunno if it's worth it because it'd be shitty as fuck if I didn't make it or we got kicked out.

Instead of starting a new thread I figured I'd bump one of the better SF threads since this seemed appropriate.
I had an idea of creating a spot map of SF that didn't really 100% give away where things were, just gave clues to where spots were. I'm in the process of getting shirts printed of this graphic for the blog I run, but considering how expensive it is to get a solid run of shirts screened I can only do one colorway.
If anyone wanted to help me out by deciding which one I should print please go here and vote for your favorite.

Maybe not the right thread to ask in but does anyone know if the Lower Bobs DIY in Oakland is still there?
I'm staying in Oakland for a few days next month and I wanted to check it out if it was still up and running (knowing full well I could possibly be chased out for being a kook).

Yeah it had some city problems earlier but people are skating it again, 90% sure its good now. You won't be chased out or denied, but boys might have you clean up trash around there to help out for entrance.

Scoped it out on Thursday morning but the fence was locked. There was a knocked down sign that said "Closed until further notice". Wasn't sure if it was closed by the city or if skater-keyholders opened it later in the day. I got broke off the day before at Potrero so I wasn't climbing the fence and I could have barely skated anyway.
The park looked fun - a bit gnarlier than it looks on video. The north end which was skinny quarterpipes in that Thrasher video was now a big complete wall.
Also, it's totally batshit that community "leaders" have gone on record opposing this park. It's far enough from homes that sound shouldn't be an issue and the highway there is loud as shit already. The immediate vicinity appeared to be industrial/illegal dumping grounds and the nearest neighbor looks like a chop shop.

one of my friends was the one who started building the spot, then the other "keyholders" took over apparently.
but anyway, i only went once. I am more excited to see what the new West Oakland park is gonna look like, since they are rebuilding the park.

wuts good ya'll. some friends and i will be in sf on a trip and are planning to stay in hotels from the 22nd - 25th and we've been looking for a hotel that wouldn't be too expensive (preferably near $100/night) or far from the city. i looked and found a couple that are in oakland/hayward area and was wondering if that would be a good idea or if there is any other better recommendations of places to stay that you guys would have? its basically all of our first time in sf so were all dumb and would appreciate any guidance.

I'm looking to get these made in the next couple weeks so if you'd want to order one PM me and I'll let you know when they're available.
Thanks.
(shameless self promotion over)

wuts good ya'll. some friends and i will be in sf on a trip and are planning to stay in hotels from the 22nd - 25th and we've been looking for a hotel that wouldn't be too expensive (preferably near $100/night) or far from the city. i looked and found a couple that are in oakland/hayward area and was wondering if that would be a good idea or if there is any other better recommendations of places to stay that you guys would have? its basically all of our first time in sf so were all dumb and would appreciate any guidance.
Try the Green tortoise hostile if your looking a cheap friendly place but might share a room with other travelers if you don't mind. Its close by the china banks.
Yea DO NOT stay in the east bay, it's a 45 minute bart ride in to the city from hayward and then you're bound to that train schedule to get back to your shit.

Anyone willing to share this one?

Going to visit my sister in SF for two weeks in the start of april. I visited new york when i was ten, but have not been in the states since. I want to skate and see all the famous spots, but is public transportation or taxi the best solution for getting around? Money is not an issue. If anyone is up for a session that would also be sick, not that fun skating alone for two weeks.

It's in the late aveneus on the Richmond side. Happy hunting.
edit: does anyone have the old SF skate map that was on the last page of the late printed version SLAP?
If so can you post it?

sf is small. just skate everywhere and hop on the back of a bus when ur feeling lazy/tired. ull find spots everywhere famous or not and have hella more fun then just going from one famous spot to another.

Make sure to take the BART to Berkeley and hit up their skatepark. It's loads of fun. It's located right across the street from Gilman too, so you might be able to catch a show too if there happens to be one that day.

Im coming all the way from norway at the end of the month to visit my sister, and she goes to Berkeley. Is there a skatepark nearby?
