Title: Frontside noseslides
Post by: Kab on May 24, 2011, 09:16:56 PM
I don't know man, but I've always thought this was such a classic trick, and you hardly see people doing them.

Post good frontside noseslides here.

I love this trick so much. It's so hard for me to come out regular, though; I damn near always come out fakie, even if I concentrate all of my being into keeping my shoulders parallel to the ledge and pulling it back.

weird. i learned these before i learned bs noseslides (which for some reason took a while) but i have trouble coming out fakie still. i think cause i lean too far forward to slide them so i have to whip my shoulders around to fakie.

Been trying them since my first years on board, might've gotten a couple decent ones since then.  Only once did it feel like I popped out of it, but boy did it feel nice.  I usually try to come back to regs, but going to fakie is fun sometimes.

I still to this day find bs noseslides awkward. I feel like I spaz getting into them. FS just feels proper, especially with some speed.

It's my go-to for something tall or if I need to slide far.

The trick is to keep your upper torso facing the same direction, only turn at the waist. If you do it that way you will land in the side consistently, coming out regular is way easier, and if you stick you can run out because you're facing in that direction.

Frontside noseslides can go either way. They are either the lazy trick you just slap up there, or they can be the trick that looks fucking rad when you lock into it proper. Moses Itkonen had a sick one, which is good, because it was like the only trick he could do. Front noses down long rails/hubbas are fucking rad. Leo (believe it or not, an unsolicited compliment) actually has a sick front nose down shit like that.

Leo had two good ones in his b-sides. One on that concrete hubba thing in a line going pretty fast, and another down a pretty big hubba.

The gnarliest one down a handrail for memory is Jamie Tawcony's in Strange World.

god, I really just love ronnie creager's skateboarding.

I learned frontside noseslides in 6th grade on these foot and a half high benches at a park by my house.  at the time, all my other grinds were on curbs only.  front noses really are way easier on tall ledges.  overshooting on them and going into front board is the worst though.  I'm pretty sure I've lost them now.  Used to be able to get shoves out of them and 270 out sometimes

front side nose slides are very hit or miss. it seems to be an easy trick for a kid to slap into and fall of with no slide. thus looking like shit. but when you have someone lock in and slide with style it suddenly becomes the greatest trick ever.

TSOS - Steve Picken (http://vimeo.com/12035915)

Its my go to after doing front boards and I find it easier than a front 50-50 on a rail. Gailea did fs nosed that ledge switch :o and my trick was abd by eric mercier...

oh, and feel free to make fun of my kit if you watched that - I was 17 and really liked zero.

Anyone got a photo of that cover of Pat Duffy front nosing that head high ledge? I think it was in a tws video...

Did you just post your own footage in in my thread? Have you seen some of the shit posted in here? You really think your short ass ledge tap even compares to the shit in here?

Great trick but once the summer of '92 ended and it was completely unacceptable to slappy into them anymore, I could only do them on really high shit where you have to shove your nose upwards into it. To this day I slide out 99% of the time when I come down onto the top of a ledge. The trick just never came naturally on street, but for some reason they came easier than backside noseslides on tranny.

This deserves mention.

Kalis asks Moses, "When you front noseslide, do you scoop it or pop it." Moses replies with a shit eating grin and an emphatic "Scoop."

I never, ever considered this when thinking frontside noseslide. However, as soon as he asked it, I realized I am a 'scoop' backside tailslider, and there are definitely 'pop' backside tailsliders. I still don't quite get the idea for a frontside noseslide... maybe Kalis can chime in and explain a bit more. I'm fascinated.

He lives in Tucson, AZ. Keeps it pretty low key with his family. He does skate lessons or something like that if I'm not mistaken.

Never had this trick ever ever ever. Got 'em switch really good but I'd rather do a decent lookin regular one. After readin here I wanna try it with the scoop. (Never thought of that).

Was it Windsor that did that long ass curved one on that one hubba? I like that one.

Lizard Kings one at Hollywood always gets a few rewinds from me. (Is there a 'bigger' one someone else has done???).

Just thought of the one Cairo had a photo of in SF, the shoulder high out ledge over like a 7 stair rail.

As echoed here though, Moses is the king of 'em to me. When I skate Dwyar I look at the long knobbed ledge and remember how rad the one he did in The Reason was (Big spin out too).

One of those tricks that can be so lame most times but so rad if done right. I agree they are scary on low ledges but easy on tall. Also if sat on for a min they're amazing (though I can't). Switch ones feel super rad as well, and on some days for me actually easier.
