New? I had a Santa Cruz Everslick in the early 90's.

I liked the whole slick bottom idea back then, but nowadays prefer a wood bottom. In my opinion putting plasticky/fiberglassy materials on the bottom of a board is like waxing a metal-edged ledge or waxing coping, just unnecessary. However, if you're skating some grungy spots on a regular basis then hey, try it out, just be careful of plastic splinters if you do any grabs. :p

I had the Dressen one in 1991-92, it was a great longlasting board (skated it an entire year i think)
i was wonderring about the sturdiness of the NHS wood (made in china)

It doesn't feel the same, but it's not horrible. NHS used to be in my top 5 brands, now it's probably not in the top 10.

I bought a Creature a few months back, skated it a few times, and noticed a huge difference when compared to old Creature/SC boards. I had about 4 or 5 real sessions before I got something US made. Now that Creature is my 3rd spare so I'll probably set it up for my son when he outgrows his 7.5 Pillage board, or I'll give it away to someone who really needs it. I have no desire to skate it. That said, I'm picky. The boards still feel sturdier than a lot of PRC shite, but don't expect it to feel like an old power-ply deck or something.

i see what you mean, i'm picky too ;D
i made the first session yesterday and the board seems to be a bit heavy and strangely shaped (nose and tail very pronounced)
maybe i have to get used to it
the everslick inserted in the bottom ply seems tough and slide better than waxed wood, good point
the next sessions will tell

I got a Tom Knox Everslick reissue, and I'm surprised by how poorly it slides.

I wanted a Tom Know re-issue but don't want to skate Chinese wood.

What companies make their decks in the U.S. exclusively?  The only one I know of is Foundation.
