Vox, DVS, C1rca and Osiris seam like the most likely brands to go out of business...
But what about Fallen, Habitat or Lakai, are they safe in this current business climate ? I hope so...

He's just a Negative Nancy. A real Debbie Downer, if you will

Should this thread be axed? No one should be negative at SLAP ::)

No not at all, i was watching this and it made me think.
http://hellaclips.com/videos/view/15103 (http://hellaclips.com/videos/view/15103)
I love most of these brands, i don't wanna see any of them go, but it seams as though some other brands apart from just eS will fold and wondered what others thought, that's all...
More realistic as opposed to negative but thanks for the nancy part, which i really liked!
-
I dont think DVS, they have moto and surf shit. They just downsized their skate team. Let go of Zered (dont know why) and others.

Does anyone wear Habitat's? They are always on sale at least 50% off at my local skate shop, selling for $50 compared to about $120-130 for say a pair of Lakai's, which is super cheap for australian prices. Not just a few models, like most of their range is always on sale which i thought was weird...

i wanna agree with this but at the same time we all know that's hardly ever the case
-
Kinda surprised vox has made it this far.
-
Osiris doesn't just sponsor skaters:
http://www.osirisshoes.com/team/ (http://www.osirisshoes.com/team/)
I was playing this racing game (DiRT 3) at a friends place one time, and i noticed one of the cars had the osiris logo on it. Do they sponsor racers now too? That would explain all the goofy looking high tops they make now (although I can't imagine them being particularly good racing shoes)
-
Although I wldnt want them to slip under, I have NEVER in all the years I've skated seen not one person with circas on their feet...skater or not
-
Wish globe riders were on something else rather than globe.
But we all know why they are still around.
-
I hope Vox doesn't struggle. I've had 3 pairs of the troopers and a pair of the Drehobls. All good shoes and easy on the wallet.
Maybe Habitat. I just don't see them appealing to many people. What about Axion and Dekline?

Habitat is probably doing ok, since i have actually seen them on people's feet. Don't know what's up with Dekline. Seen one person skate them and it was mike york and that one orange and black colorway he had. After that i never seen dekline ever again.
I;m gonna get manny axion shoe once it drops, but other than that. Don't see them anywhere also.
I'm sure in other parts of the usa/globe. Axion & dekline is doing fairly well

those osiris bronx are like air force ones for the lame biker/skater mall kids.

Oh well, it's not that different from vans or DC. They've all branched out to other sports. I just never knew about osiris till I played that game haha

That's funny, where I am they are really popular

Yeah its like it's some sort of cruel joke that other, much cooler brands are possibly on the chopping block and a company like Globe, which I personally hate, you know isnt going anywhere because they have so much money backing them...
Globe is a brand I never see anyone wearing, especially skaters...

in one day at the park I saw a kid skating globes, a kid skating etnies callicuts, and a kid skating osiris bronx hi tops. It was like I was in bizarro world.

Clearly those who doubt Globe's popularity have never heard of Aus/NZ.
THEY. ARE. EVERYWHERE.

I had Appleyard's shoe "Vagrant". The Soles fell off pretty quick if I remember correctly.

They're fairly popular around here. I think that's because one of the local shops only sells two different brands of shoes. Circa and Duffs.
-
how is Gravis in the states? Not really seen much where I am in the UK
-
Holy shit Duffs is still in business! How? :o
-
Louie would be so much better on something legit.
-
Am I the only one who doesn't seem the appeal of Cons...like, AT ALL. I pretty much dislike every single one of their designs. I can't be the only one...right?

i saw one pair of mids that blackeye77 posted on here that i liked. other than that i havent seen a pair that id actually wear. i dont like those flimsy ass vulc shoes and i was never a fan of the chuck taylors as casual shoes either
-
Duffs or Vox. I'm surprised Duffs has made it this far.
-
imthinking dvs to flop pretty soon, their vulc shoes are the worst

I see Circa's all the time, lately mostly the Widows. I've owned several pairs myself and love their shoes, hope they don't go anywhere. Widow's and Tre's are both very good from what I hear.

I used to work as a rep for Circa, they sell pretty good and wont go anywhere.
They also make the best skateshoes i ever tried, and i have tried all the brands out there.
-
i really hate to say it, but i cant get over the feeling that lakai is really hurting. please, please let me be wrong.
-
i honestly think we'll see Lakai go before Vox and Circa. Vox and Circa don't have as many heavy hitter pros on the team, therefore they have a much smaller over-head. These brands are also generally sold in shops that DON'T carry the big brands (Nike SB, Cons, Adidas, and even Vans). There are tons of places around the US(Florida is a big one) that Vox and Circa do great because there are so many small shops that only sell these brands, Fallen and maybe eS (RIP).
I hate to see some of the best companies going under because of the big guys at Nike buying the heart of skaters.

The Tre's are the first Circa shoe Ive ever owned, and probably the best shoe Ive ever skated
-
had a globe demo here a few months ago....
I couldnt find a single person wearing their shoes at that demo, besides the globe team riders.
Wonder if they sell anything at all.
dont think they will last very long
-
Globe has been around for years an years, as stated elsewhere in this topic they are huge in Australia. Like Osiris, you don't have to sell to people that really skate to be successful. Appealing to another demographic is the smartest thing business wise to do.
VOX has to be hurting right about now.

Since you own a shop. what brands are selling good right now, which ones are hurting?
-
I live in Norway, and Circa, Vox and Globe are really popular here.
I've never seen a person wearing Gravis, even though all shops sell them.
-
Duffs or Vox. I'm surprised Duffs has made it this far.
I think Duffs only has a few people on the team, but they sponsor BMX riders too.
Also, if you have a South Shore account, you can order Duffs through there. I don't think they're hurting badly.

Really...? Maybe a few years ago but nowadays i never see anyone in sydney wearing them, but aust is a big place so i guess they could be wearing them in W.A....

dont think australia has enough people to keep a brand alive, 22million people or something...
glad they do well there, so they can keep on paying the riders
-
how is Gravis in the states? Not really seen much where I am in the UK
I've never seen anyone else wearing them, but I've skated Gravis for my last three pairs since I found an online store (no local shops here) that sell close-out models for $15/pair. I'm not picky about shoes.
-
The one pair of Circa's I had were really good. I really hope they don't go out of business. I'd buy more of their shoes if I didn't have such a hard time finding them down here.
Also I don't think Lakai is going anywhere. They're really popular around here, like REALLY popular. I see tons of people rocking Lakais, even a lot of people who don't even look like they skat wear them here.
-
Vox will probably go, they're whole marketing scheme off selling forty dollar shoes not only indicates that they're struggling, but it also kind of affects the industry bc it lowers the market with other brands having to make cheaper shoes.

How is vox hurting the market by having lower priced shoes?

Lakai isnt going anywhere, theyre all in zumiez and shit. so many kids wear manchester selects that dont even skate. I have 2 friends that are flow for circa, and have heard good things about them. Im sure theyll be fine to.

Ive yet to see a single pair of hufs in oregon though im sure they probably do pretty well in cali (http://www.eukicks.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/choice11210-2-1000.jpg)
anyone skated these? been wanting to get a pair if i could find them cheap

HUF's are doing really well here in Nor Cal and down in So Cal too.. As for the Choice shoe I am on my second pair. Really good shoe, it personally reminds me of the manchester select by lakai with a thiner tongue and thicker sole. Not the most durable shoe but it skates really well.

this, the trepasso lows or the paps are the only shape i mildly enjoy, all others seem to be thin as fuck/have horrible toecaps/chuck taylors. dont even know what was up with those ridiculous jack purcell shoes.

surprised Vox isnt going after the rocker hipster rockabilly thing like Brixton.

ehhh. their alright, i had the black/orange ones, they look better than they skate, their too heavy and clunky, remind me of the fallen chiefs. they look vulcanized, they are, but they don't feel like it, last forever though.
