Title: Skate video audio
Post by: The Donger on April 08, 2013, 01:01:35 PM
I forgot what movie I was watching the other day, maybe Godfather 2. I was flipping through the audio options. They had director commentary, Producer commentary, a few of the actors had a commentary, 2.1 stereo, dolby surround and a 5.1 stereo. This isn't new technology, its been around since forever. Why can't this be used on skate videos. Don't you hate it when a good part gets ruined by a shitty song. The Spanish version of Hotel California in Pretty Sweet is a great example. Each Skater's part could have 2 or 3 songs or have the option to have no song, maybe have the skater or filmer have a commentary, would love to see Dill do commentary on himself. And don't say it would cost too much money. I'm not saying they should put Led Zepplin and the Beatles for one part. But there are soo many great bands and musicians out there just trying to get their material out there. And don't say that skater's parts are specially choregraphed to specific songs, the wrong part would ruin the vibe, thats regular mentality. Come on filmers/editors step your game up.

well i agree with the no song option but still with skate sounds.
but parts are edited to songs so the second or third song option would mean editin it for each song.
but if there is just a no song option you can turn on whatever the fuck you want.
also i would love to see carroll commentate on his parts.
that shit would be hilarious.

I've said all this on here a couple times.  It would really extend a video's shelf life.

having it to multiple songs is dumb, no audio with skate sound seems obvious, it's kind of shocking that videos don't already do that. Commentary would also be really cool for some skaters.

It would lead to every dumbass 14 year old who figured out how to edit footage on their computer making Waka Flocka Flames edits littering youtube. Other then that it'd be cool.

first of all flocka is one of the most under utilized artists for skate edits.

like yall dont just turn the sound down on parts and just play your own shit?
yall willingly go on youtube and watch non-manolo/quatersnacks re-edits?

I think the best way would be to release raw footage of the whole movie like they did with Stay Gold. I personally don't have too much issues with bad songs if I'm a fan of the skater, so I would rather watch a part to any song rather than with only skate sound unless it was a raw edit.

I would probably buy more videos if they came with legitimate features like that. Music options, commentary, no music, alternate edits, raw footage dumps. Extras. Fun little experimental clips.

I know its easier to dump all of that onto the internet but it would be nice to have a goto disc with loads of footage.

Mind field was a good example of how to do that.
