Did i miss something here? 2 dudes quit Alien Workshop why the fuck would the rest of the team leave? if anything it would free up more money for the rest of those dudes to do stuff. It will also give everyone else on the team a lot more coverage as their would be less pros on the company. This won't be anything like the Blueprint thing seeing as Carter and Hill are still doing the company, Workshop was Workshop when Dill and Ave were riding for 23. The reason Blueprint changed is Dan MAgee quit like a year before the rest of Paul Sheir and them quitting, he was the one that developed the whole feel and aesthetic of Blueprint. Truthfully most of the team could quit and those dudes would find new people to keep the Workshop alive.

Supreme are absolutely killing it at the moment a far as hype and sales.
They have always done their own logo boards and then usually a collab with an artist each season and I just cant see them changing up a pretty successful formula. Can't see fucking awesome skateboards happening either. It is the most half ass brand going. It has been around for quite a while but is so inconsistent in releasing gear and delivering to stockists and so forth.

You seemed to have a big impact on the company, helped make it what is was during that era, with those skaters; a figurehead for sure. The stuff you put out spoke volumes about what the company itself put out.

come on now, it was a bit different with kalis cuz dude CLEARLY just didnt fit the new image of the team at all. i rewatched minefield last night actually, and his shit just didnt fit in like that. it was a good part, but it was clear to me that he was the odd duck of the team at that time. He fits in way better on DGK with stevie anyway. i wouldnt say he "cool guyed" his way off rather than just finding a much better fitting team.

AVE is just awesome across the board, probably in part because he lets his skating do most of the talking and aside from substance abuse problems I don't know shit about the guy. I like it that way.

He isn't a Mike Carroll, Rickk, Gino, Koston, Reynolds etc. He didn't pave the way for shit, he piled out and got into a lifestyle that doesn't involve skating, which is far from out of the ordinary in the industry. i kind of agree with you, but also think the idea of a skateboard company marketed to "grown men" is pretty funny.

This is all Dylan's fault.When I was young we all tried to bite the style of our favourite pros. Carroll's bleached hair, Howard's stance, Mariano's arm toss on landing, Agah's bow legs, everything Kareem did ever. Bite it too hard and you'd get kooked but we were kids and that's how you learnt, through mimicry. Eventually your own style would take over or you'd totally kook out, it's no different now. As far as guys getting paid who you don't like, don't buy the product they're pushing, if enough people don't buy it they won't get paid for very long. Last few boards I bought have been Scumco because I like their vibe and wood and want them to get paid and keep making them. I've always tried to buy the things with the skaters I like associated with them but if I stop liking the skater or the product I move on. If the company is bought out and my money is not going where I hoped it would i stop giving them my money.

Yes, it was an amazing trick but I'm pretty sure some of us Slappers on here could do it if they tried it that long(considering I nose and tailslide it going to and from the liquor store). Trying to impossible out for 20+ hours just doesn't seem fun to me and I like to have fun skateboarding.
I'm glad those kids are getting hooked up for the mere fact that soon skateboarding will die again(because of kids that suck) and only us truly dedicated to pushing the streets and having fun with our friends will remain.

When it was just a streetwear brand and Dill was drugged out/not skating, I think they only released stuff randomly versus season after season. Maybe that sporadic nature is why it never caught on?

Fairfax is equivalent to Haight St in SF except we have more smoke stores. When I first went there, I was sort of underwhelmed. Diamond was actually one of the better shops imo just more so cause it looked clean and dudes there were cool. Odd Future is a fucking dumb store, Hundreds is literally a closet, and Supreme was cool cause of the bowl but everything else is meh.
I've heard from a number of people that live in America and overseas that they were REALLY put off by the store and staff at Supreme on Fairfax.LA skaters don't shop, let alone shop at Supreme.

Give them some time, the right team, and the ability for them to find their niche, and I think the stuff they put out could be sick. I want to believe it, but I find it so hard to believe that Dill has complete control over this and it's owned by Vans, which in turn is owned by VANITY FAIR. I am so over caring about the day-to-day of this brand. It may be some big ol' marketing guy that doesn't even know what skating is or means to all of us that is illegally taking that piano footage from youtube. I think it is real juvenile for you all to harmonize on "Dill does this" or "Dill did that" Who cares. . . ? go skate. Wait until you the see graphics and shapes and buy like everyone else does. And the whole moral compass you place on these videos is exactly what they want. It is supposed to raise red flags and create buzz. It is doing double work for them while they are trying to get a team together. I could see kids falling for it, but some of you guys are adults falling into this buzzkill marketing ploy, really!? skaterats are supposed to be imaginative, clever, and independent. . . .

Regarding the video, what ever it "intention" is I think it's revealed how uncomfortable some people are about those not deemed "normal", that horribly PC term "differently abled", or the antiquated "regular". I don't know why they chose this but I'm hoping it was to say they thought this guy and his keyboard playing was Fucking Awesome. Acknowledging, engaging with or displaying someone who's not considered "normal" doesn't imedietly mean your exploiting them. I'm stoked on this guys keyboard playing and enthusiasm.

its gotta be more shops than that (or its going to distributors also, which will mean much more than 20 shops). That instagram photo says 4 pallets, each having 45-50 boxes, with 10 boards/box. That's about 2000 boards. And I can't see shops picking up more than 5-10 boards max. That's only a few hundred boards. What about the rest?

i'll agree that is seems smart, but the fact of the matter is that a plan like that has no longevity/sustainability. yeah, in the beginning it will be very desirable, because it's "new, limited and only at 20 shops". But as time goes on, they will be opening shops to the point where the product is readily available, which in turn takes away from the appeal of it being limited. What they should do is something where have a certain number of shops as dealers PERIOD, and have a website where you can buy one if you're not near any of those shops. You keep your production/overhead at minimum and keep the appeal of it being a limited product. I'd do a rotating list of about 50-100 shops that get the product, and stand behind those dealers. That way when people see one in a shop, they're way more apt to buy it, being that they know they wont see it at Timmy's Skateshop in Mom's Garage, or some shit. The reason they were able to sell shirts for so much is because of the limited availability. It's how Supreme gets away with it. But Supreme knows that if they started whoring their brand out to skateshops, it'd lose whatever it had as far as desirability. I feel like Diamond is setting themselves up for that too (although I doubt Nick Diamond gives a shit, judging from the chartered plane trips and Lamborghini's)

For real. As much as FA has it's minions, The Hundreds has there's too and I am sure they are way more loyal and I am not even talking about just their customers. Other existing brands back The Hundreds as well. Anyways.....good luck Dill.
^ They're not exactly the pinnacle of anything cool anymore. I see scooter kids at the park with fresh box logo bought by their mommies all the time. The mystique and exclusivity ended with Odd Future's moment in popular culture 2 years ago. You'll still see guys who respected and knew what Supreme was from the start wearing their gear but that's about it.
