You'll be good, I do it all the time. Reynolds, Nuge and Slash rides 8.5 decks with 139's and they seem to be doing okay
-
I ride an 8.3 with 139s and it's fine

This, 139s on an 8.25 and the thing feels like a dream

read on another thread that slash and reynolds ride wide boards and use indy 139s.

This was posted in the set up thread. It's a 8.25 mellow shape with 139s.

This is my last deck (8.25) with Indy 139's.
-
Present deck (also 8.25) with the same Indy 139's. They work fine for me and should work fine for you too. If you go any bigger you should probably get bigger trucks, but it's a matter of personal preference. Some people like smaller trucks with bigger decks.

I had an 8.38 anti-hero on 139s and it seemed fine. Maybe a little less control but I also have bones, so it could be attributed to them sliding around also.

thanks mr buffalo. that doesn't look too bad. looks like you have bigger wheels which helps
i know it doesn't really matter that much and it's all preference, but with 8.25 it seems like you could go either way

Keep in mind that with 149s, your bolts will stick out slightly on an 8.25. The wheels will pretty much be flush, but the hangars will extend an 8th of an inch on either side. Lots of people are cool with that, but it drives me insane.
