I wanted to rent a warehouse have a few friends to put in a few bucks a month so we can have a place to skate after work and also utilize this as a office. Nothing too big. Has anyone done this? Do you have any advice in renting, liability etc?

It's expensive.

I live in the long beach/la area so i was hoping to find one even in the hood on the low. I think with san jose everything is a little more.

we have one, everyone pays 50 euros a month.
it's been 2 months now, not sure how long it will last.
we're 25-30 guys, and it's fucking expensive. everyone is hyped and brings stuff to skate, tools, material to build stuff and so on.
i'm not the one who worked it out or sealed the deal with the landlord, so i don't have much advise, beside: make sure the flatground is good, make sure power is included in the rent, get as many people as possible. make sure if somebody brings friends to sessions who ain't members they have to pay entry as well (we charge 5 euros)
every guest has to pay for single sessions, no exceptions. if reynolds would show up we'd charge him 5 bucks as well, otherwise the whole thing wouldn't work.

it's all by the square foot. Good luck man, I'm pretty envious.

this is so sick whats the square footage? I found a spot in long beach for 2400 a month which isn't too bad if i can get about 10 dudes to put in around 100-200 a month i would be putting in a little more

it's 500 square meters. the video isn't up to date, we've got more stuff to skate now. it's located outside the city center, 45 minutes drive in the middle of nowhere. this kinda sucks but its the only place affordable, also the flatground is perfect. it also prevents us from random dudes/kids showing up uninvited.

I'm currently thinking about doing the same thing, It rains so much here in Oregon. However, I have found a really cheap option, only $450/mo for 1937sq/ft area. I'm just trying to get some homies in on it so it's a group effort.

Isn't liability insurance an expensive additional that most landlords would require? I imagine it's a bit different in Europe, but state side property owners are liability crazy these days. I can get space where I'm at for a reasonable price, but i fear the insurance on it would be prohibitively expensive. I guess there are probably enough shady landlords on that don't ask don't tell shit tho...

Honestly thought you said renting a whorehouse. Whores.
-
hmm... warehouse... doing it where there's tons of ditch spots and good weather too. oh well.

in this situation a sketchy landlord is a good thing! instead of looking for insurance to cover "skateboarding" look for something that covers "performance art". this is where a sketchy landlord and white lies come into play. one can get millions of dollars worth of insurance for a pittance a month. not kidding.

not a single question asked. we could do whatever we want in there as long as we pay the rent. the landlord wanted to check our
creditworthiness but then his son was like "did you see their car, dad? they can afford it" said car is a random suv.
