Do I want to support skater owned companies, or Lugz, Asics, Airwalk, and Tommy Hilfiger?

Yeah, I don't get it. It's not like any of the brands of shoes he did choose to wear don't make their shoes in some third world country.

If he wants the money to go to Rickk and Mike over "the other guys", then maybe it'd be better if he just bought some Lakai's...

I think the point is that he can get cheaper shoes made by non-skate brands and since they are all made in the same sort of factories, he doesn't feel any obligation towards the skate brands.

That's true. It's not like skate shops don't clearance areas for shoes though. Like he even said some of those shoes were garbage for skating, so I'd rather skate cheap shoes made for skating that'll at least have a sole designed for that purpose.

doesn't really sound like a top 10 though does it?
i get what he's saying (sort of) but i'd still rather support skater-owned.
perhaps he could try and hook up a sponsor that makes their shoes locally? or encourage one (#NB springs to mind) to start making their shoes in the US?

I always check if I'm in a center with one.  Lately it's been slim pickins. Marshalls has been letting me down for the last couple of years. Ross is hit or miss.

I've always been into skating whatever shoe I'm feeling at the time, not a conscious decision against skate companies by any means.

I used to skate a lot of cheap generic plimsolls & slip-on's because I would wear them basically 24/7, would end up skating at some point & get psyched on them.

There were a couple years of bargain basement Puma Suedes/Baskets & clearance Adidas Campus but I always ended up back skating actual "skate" shoes.

I've seen people fucking rip in a variety of footwear though; Leather slippers, Tim's, Sperry boat loafers, & even moccasins.

Support your local thrift guys!

Well considering most thrift stores give back to the community in multiple ways, your statement is a valid point.

And buying used shit is much better for the earth. Especially animal products like leather shoes.
