Just saw this on my way to work on my phone. That Ellington 3 shoe looked like the Accel with the strap. Good stuff RL. Wish Supra would do the trendy thing and make a Ellington 1 lite version.

Those EE 1s are one of the worst skate shoes I have ever tried to skate. Pure garbage.

Thats not necessary. All those guys' shoes look exactly like other Vans models.

I felt the same way.  I thought they looked good, but skating in them was terrible.  In that video, Erik is like, "the EE2 was basically a puffier version of the EE1, with less boardfeel".  That sounds unimaginable.

Just watch Eric's Footnotes video on the Berrics, pretty similar stuff.

A Rowley one would be decent.

I'd also like to hear the story about TNT's weird yellow puffy high tops which were supposedly based on some flea market shoes he bought and skated during one of those Antihero summer tours. I want to know if that story was true.

It would be good to hear that story.  And definitely yes to a Muska one.  I know he does a lot of commercials for his Supra models but it would be cool to hear about his Circa models and give him a good amount of time to talk about his influences/ideas.

it would be sick to even look at shoes that have influenced other models like the half cab, SLB 23s and now the janoski's... Ripped Laces rules!!!

You guys, thanks so much for the kind words.

As most of you know, this is such a limited series due to our budget and whatnot but we're pursuing new episodes more and more all the time. Convincing pro's to do it in the past was the biggest challenge but I think this Ellington episode will change a lot of their minds now. That just goes to show how much influence the dude has. He's incredibly humble and was awesome to work with. Here's some behind the scenes footage of that day. The description was exactly how the story went. So crazy...
Hope you guys are as psyched on it as I am: http://instagram.com/p/rTFJSMDA_1/?modal=true (http://instagram.com/p/rTFJSMDA_1/?modal=true)

There's 1 more pro that's scheduled to come out after this Ellington series and after that we're working towards producing more episodes. If any California SLAP PALS have a place for myself and our filmer to crash at, we're down to come out just to make more episodes happen. We'll let you see it before it even drops. ;)

Much love guys.
Thanks again.

I tried so much to loosen those fuckers up. Washed them 2/3 times. Wore them for a year. Tried to skate in them 2/3 times and ended up just binning them because they fucking sucked.

This was probably before I skated other non-skater owned brands. Some of the shit sole-tech was knocking out in this era was awful and probably a reason why Nike/Adidas got such a foothold.

What's up with his Supra shoe? It's been out for a while and looks solid and like something I would like to skate, but I've never seen it in the wild.

That was rad. Takes me back to when I was a kid. I was so stoked on skate shoes. I loved looking through the CCS catalogs.

On the topic of Geoff Rowley, did anyone ever have these -

I don't think they stayed around too long. Don't think they ever got popular....I loved them, but I wouldn't wear them now haha.

I remember trying these on and the sole felt very heavy and thick but somehow they didn't feel padded either like XLTs. Kind of like the first Cardiel shoes.

Ive seen some people skating them they got some really good colorways out now. A lot of the Supra guys skate them too so I'd imagine they're solid. Supras do kind of have shallow tread that might bald a little faster but its not a dealbreaker

the emerica ellington 3s would have been perfect for me. i loved accels but i was always more of a fan of emerica. it's a shame they never just made it anyways.

I skated both the Double E's & the Avengers and they were both some of my all time favorites. Dude knows how to make great product!

Eriks new supersole moonboot looks awful, yet I see dudes going nuts with em. The berrics product test was pretty hilarious, everyone had to step down their tricks while acting a fool.

I think this:

was my favourite around then. They had really good board feel and flex from the off.

It is wierd though, I remember a friend had the Ellingtons and loved them. So me and another mutual friend both independently bought a pair each of the green and white leather colourway. Both of us fucking hated them. May be it was just that colourway that sucked?

It's funny that he didn't talk about his third Supra model.  I think it was called the Vega?  It was a vulc model and it looked great so I wonder if it didn't sell well either.  It seemed like it was perfectly timed according to skating's trends and preferences so it would be surprising if it was a flop.

haha! i just googled them and they look like the Reynolds 2's with the puffy upper but instead of a thin cup sole. it's a vulc sole haha!

his diablo model really didn't get enough appreciation at the time. (not in that horride colourway though ... ugh)
love how he mentioned coming back full circle and getting inspired by KCK colourways again. ellington always keeps it fresh in the shoe dept. hell, he even used to make axions look good (i guess BA did too)!

That was cool. Hope there will be more of these.

Over the years I've had 2 pairs of Supras, one being the Avenger, the other one sort of half cab looking shoe back in 2007 probably. They were both really good shoes, I liked them a lot. Still, I kind of hesitate to pick up a pair of Supras, maybe it's the image of the company that puts me off, regardless of some rad dudes like Ellington.

that was awesome. i loved both his emerica shoes when i was young. i never had any supra shoes though because they look disgusting and so on.  i don't know why i hate supra as a company so much i have no reason to.  i understand why his shoes never sold on supra.

i had several suede ellingtons and just one leather colorway and let me tell you, that leather was STIFF AS A MOTHERFUCKER.
maybe it was just the lkeather they used on them.
the diablos were fucking great,  diablo slip on was even better, and the vegas skated fucking great, they were pretty narrow but  pointy and grippy enough to be one of my faves
