how do these fit compared to other shoes like vans/emerica/adidas (usually all i wear.). I wear either an 8.5 or 9 and i wouldn't want to spend the money if I needed the 9.

They are pretty true to size. I wear a 9.5 in most shoes, 9 in some, and I'me a 9.5 in these.
