since we are all serious skate shoe addicts on here i thought i would get this thread started.
there have been so many great skate shoes released over the years that seem to get forgotten in one or two seasons; so painful especially when you find the perfect shoe. anyways, here's my list;
* a pair of zero-twos - i don't think this will ever happen but i loved the hype and advertising campaign when this brand first came out. their team was dope too!

* emerica ed templeton 1s - i can't believe to this day that emerica won't reissue this one (imo it's was/is on par with the marc johnson's first model). there was sooo many people rocking this shoe at the time of their release; arto basically lived in them.

* etnies vallely 1 - what a beast of a shoe it was. i literally cannot stand a word that comes out of mike's mouth these days but there is a soft spot in my heart for this particular model. tech as fuck and built like a tank!

* vans rowley XLT1 and the shams model - the XLT reminded me of some old-skool reeboks and the shams were basically a bulletproof half cab with a cupsole. saw some XLTs on ebay the other day but it seems like every man and his dog were bidding on them (which just proves how popular they were). bastien and ali rocked them a lot though i don't think they were fully appreciated at the time

* dukes (first shoe they put out?) - super clean design and you couldn't fuck with jeremy wray at the time (still can't). i had a pair back in the day and loved them. quality was topnotch too!

* kastel - ronnie bertino's first shoe? kastel as a brand aged really badly but their first run of kicks was pretty tight at the time

* emerica phocus - i only found this out recently but apparently this was going to be JT's 2nd shoe after his "i'm going to skate barefoot until you make me a canvas shoe" model. jamie left emerica shortly before it was released (see page 3 of this thread for his first adio shoe which was actually based off of the phocus) but emerica released it anyway sans his name. i had just become a vegetarian at the time and was obsessed with cruelty-free shoes (still am), but most of all i just thought it was a really clean looking shoe. will still skate these in a heartbeat <3

the other reason why i'm starting this topic is that recently i've basically found a treasure trove of dead stock skate shoes (think mid 00's) that i'm thinking of investing in. obviously i'm not going to take the plunge unless i'm going to get some sort of return on this investment so i'm interested in what you guys/ gals would be into. some of this stuff is super hard to get so naturally i won't be able to fulfill all of your wishes but it looks like i'll have a nice haul coming in the coming weeks/ months. as a teaser this will be the first pair going up for sale:

ahhhh good old axions, i personally thought they were all ugly except when BA wore them - he can make any shoe look good (see 99% of savior's models). can't deny that guy's shoes was mad popular at the time though.
edit: weren't those carroll DC's infused with some type of metal? ???

I have a stash of some late 90s, early 2000s shoes at my parents house. I know there some Es Tom Penny 2s in there, as well as a few old school dunks, back when they were made really well.

The Hawks were a 90's model so they went for about 45 ( i paid $1 dollar for them at a thrift store)

carroll selects aren't that hard to come by but i can't remember seeing that specific colourway in said treasure trove. i'll have a look though
edit: can't really speak for the DC model you posted (i only ever really liked the clocker, carroll/ howard 1s and the syntax) but all of those e'S are on point!

from memory i think i saw a pair of those dylans in brown suede, not brand new but only worn a handful of times. i could get you filters/ filter duro's though ;) or what about those boat shoe-inspired model he put out?

Yeah, the Tosh shoe was underrated as fuck. I remember they were kinda slim compared to all the shoes that were around, and they had a great toe shape. And everybody fuckin skated Heretics in my town, all the time. You could easily see 8+ pairs every day at the park, mostly the black leather/nubuck? ones. I had around 4 pairs.

LAKAI FADE Navy and white model? I think it was in the debut line of the company. Would fucking kill for those. size 12.
I have a bright ass blue pair of Adidas Ronans (12) that are in pretty good shape if anyone knows of a decent trade they had in mind.....

the jim shoe was re-released by x-large a year or to ago but yeah, defs one of airwalk's more iconic models (had a pair in white leather). never skated koston 2s but did try a friend's pair on and was blown away by the comfort/ support. never tried the escobar but greco could have made anything at that point and it would have sold. probably his best design when he was on vans though (his other shoes were *vomit*).
TwisT> MJs shoe really was ahead of its time; super tech with a super simple design. know those kostons, never tried a pair. those duffs remind me of hensley and/ or jason adams and louie. one pair of duffs was enough for one me though ;)

The Artist Formerly Known As Prince> impeccable taste. saw both (on friend's feet) back when they were released and it seems like both never got their shine (admittedly carroll left for DC within like a month of the shoe dropping right?).

YES! had a pair in thar exact colourway and i definitely remember being stoked on them. way better than any of the NTS 2s or 3s that they were coming out with at the time. why don't companies double stitch their cupsoles anymore? oh that's right $$$

Me too, but as an adult. They had a black/grey pair with a green jell cell in the sole (I think). They looked so different at the time and were way more radical than Savier.
I had the Natas model, but never had the cash to splurge on the Dills.

i cant find many photos, but i remember danny way had a dc shoe around 2000-01 that was pretty dope looking. i think him, kalis, and ave all came out with really expensive tech shoes at that time and i remember being so jealous of the spoiled kids at school that had them when i was stuck with some ugly cab 5s that my mom got me on sale.

JT seems to rock the 50/50 model a lot more than this one (another great adio release that i never got to skate) which was a pretty low tech shoe at the time. funny story about this shoe (the one you posted): tony hawk shot a "got milk?" ad in them at the time when jamie was at the peak of his veganism. i doubt JT gave a shit in the grand scheme of things but i think ian mackeye wrote the birdman a nasty letter.

I never had either but I would have probably would have liked them. They had the same profile as the Angus which I loved. For a while I was getting them on eBay for dirt cheap. I still have multiple Angus insoles and use them on my skate and casual shoes. Thick cushy foam with a Zoom airbag.
Honestly, they didn't look great but they felt wonderful.

I think those 2nd Dills were the last DVS I bought. They looked nice but the sole was a real joke, the tread was just really thin DVS letters. Needless to say they lasted about a week. The 1st Dills always interested me but were never reduced...

i missed the train on the first zoom tres but i had the ADs as well. i still think theyre one of the sickest looking shoes, but god damn they were uncomfortable. whatever that really sticky synthetic part they lined the inner heel with would cut my feet up so bad that i had to wear bandaids on my feet just to walk around in those things. i ended up giving them to my brother because i couldnt handle them. id probably still wear them today if they made that heel part different. i had this colorway.

to be honest they had a re-release of the 23 a few years back so it's not like they are super hard to get a hold of. classic shoe for sure (had them in maroon/ black) but it just doesn't seem that rare when compared to something like kareem's shoe on duffs or a pair of mariano axions. idk ???

You didn't miss anything with the travelers. Thick sole, stiff leather. They were tanks for durabilty but felt like actual tanks on your feet.

I had these in the black/rasta colorway and are probably some of my favorite skate shoes of all time. All the "new" shoe tech features of today were in these things years ago. Never got to try the original tre's but i had a buddy who swore by them...then another one that swore by the exact same pair after getting em from my other friend. I did the same with my AD's, I skate goofy and gave them to another friend who's regular and they lasted us both forever. same exact pair of shoes that shit is crazy lol.
i missed the train on the first zoom tres but i had the ADs as well. i still think theyre one of the sickest looking shoes, but god damn they were uncomfortable. whatever that really sticky synthetic part they lined the inner heel with would cut my feet up so bad that i had to wear bandaids on my feet just to walk around in those things. i ended up giving them to my brother because i couldnt handle them. id probably still wear them today if they made that heel part different. i had this colorway.

I had this exact problem too. Great looking shoe, and aside from the flesh wounds around my ankles, they were really comfortable. I still have them around here somewhere... Maybe I should dig them out and try modifying them in some way to make them more wearable.

fadedpastels＞ some nice choices in there. the bastien's were heavily rowley XLT inspired, never did try a pair though. i didn't actually try the TNTs either because i was too obsessed with rowley at the time. no to take away from its credibility or anything but remember when black/ pink colourways were huge? that's what that shoe reminds me of. ed's 2nd shoe is getting a lot of love in here; makes me regret not buying a pair now :'(

I've been trying to get another pair of these in that colourway after the first pair I had, skated them to death and loved them. They are surprisingly hard to get even though they were on sale a few months after release here in the U.K and as such probably didn't sell too well. They seriously skated perfectly after about two kickflips. (SO, on that note if anyone has anywhere I can get a pair of these please pass on the info).

Again, had these in the black and white colour but these always looked brilliant with the one colour toe. And nostalgia aside, I think these would probably still be feasible to skate in, even with the big air pocket in the heel the forefoot was surprisingly good for board feel.

I never got the chance to skate the P.Rod 3's but I always loved the design. Seen them in person a couple times as well they were so sick. Would definitely try to cop these if I could find them in a 10.

I am like 99.9% sure that I have the EMB Carroll Selects at my parents' house. Never skated, just worn to work a few times. If I still have them and anyone is interested in purchasing them, send me a PM.
I would love to have a stash of the AV3. Once you take out the tongue stuffing, that shoe is perfect. I remember the sole not being described as vulc on the box so I always assumed it was a different construction. Like an early Wafflecup, but with no break in time. I was super anti-vulc at the time and it felt like the best of both worlds to me.

The skatepark I used to go to all the time had a pair of these on the wall forever. It would be funny to see how they skated compared to real dunks. They're probably not made in America because that would be extremely expensive, so whats the point when they're probably made in china? It's the same people producing it, but at probably half the quality. "I'll give half the money to a skater-based company, although the product they made is blatantly sub-par", instead of Consolidated just making shoes that are better for skating than Nike.

I liked my pair too, except I wore a hole in the insole oddly enough and would get blisters on the bottom of my foot from it. They skated and looked awesome though.

Had his etnies shoe... I didn't realized sole tech ran so big and got a 10, I wear a 9. Ended up rolling my left ankle in them, then the next morning rolling around I hit a rock and rolled my right ankle. They looked sick tho...

In 2004, just before I graduated high school, I bought a pair of Nike indoor soccer shoes for $20 on a Foot Locker sale rack
They looked a lot like this:

As someone else already mentioned, the Emerica Ellingtons were some of my favorites. I had 3 pairs of them, and as soon as the 2's came out, I got a pair of those, and they just didn't look, feel, or skate as good as the first ones
eS Theory 1.5's. The only mid top shoes I ever cared for. They didn't last for very long, but they were comfortable as hell, and they looked great to me.

check your local marshall's, my friend found 4 pairs in assorted colors there one time. same with anyone looking for dylans. i found black/white canvas, and black/gum waxed canvas ones in my size there.

Never been much of a fan of skating the shoes, but I've always loved how clean these Bruins looked. I even had an opportunity when they came out to get it for a discount, but I passed on it thinking I'd get back to it later. They arent even that skated but the sole was gone too fast! Gone bald and thin in weeks and no grip whatsoever, it was strange because i had the herman 2 that had the same sole and lasted a while... Maybe i'll clean them and just chill in them.

^yeah, that`s one shoe i would really love to have again! BUT more specifically a first run of the G CODE! had two pairs of them when they first came out and skated a couple over the following years. the newer g codes didn`t even come close to the first run of them. different fit, lot bulkier and not as when they first came out!

I have a pair that I only skated a few times in the black/gum colorway... To be honest, I didn't really think they skated all that great. The rubber/plastic underlay under the suede seemed to not actually be attached to each other making them feel weird and very, very stiff. I was actually pretty disappointed in them, but maybe I should have another go at skating them? Definitely not a shoe that felt good out of the box.

Oh, they were absolutely stiff as fuck. But I typically wear my shoes around for non-skating for up to a couple months before ever skating them. It definitely took several sessions, but they were literally indestructible afterwards. Similar feel to the Emerica Provosts, which I skate now. Board feel, EXCELLENT cushioning, simplicity, and the most indestructible vulc I've ever seen make this by far the best shoe in recent memory.

I'm a 9. Laced High skates as well as any shoe that looks like that, but it was also really good-lookin'. Fallen 1996's did poorly in pre-booking so they never got made. Those gum half cabs were some supreme shit. Wish they made those colors for regular folk.

I wish I still had a pair of the Nikes in the top right hand corner, I don't remember what they were called, i never skated mine and they were a full size too big for me, i think they were just eventually thrown away from using them to mow the lawn and stuff. Also the Vans Steve Cabs on the lower right hand corner, I did my first kickflip in those shoes and kept them for a really long time. Plus the Kenny's (in black gum though) and the blue grey Accel for sure, those were always my favorites.

Rubber toe bumper is great (and reminds me of templeton 1s); check out the etnies maranas (cupsoles of course) to get your 90s/ early 00s nostalgia stoke on.

bummer! this was the only colourway that I'm aware of that came out in synthetic hence the no stretch/ tight fit.
I've had my pair for at least 4 years now and they still fit so snug

The Emerica Transists were probably my favorite cupsole shoes ever made. I bought a pair off ebay in 2010 for $15 shipped. They fit perfectly and had a perfect shape to them. The shape was similar to Vans Old Skools. Awesome shoes. I skated them so long that I had holes in every sock I owned. I wish they would bring them back.

The 6's aren't too hard to find. Finding a good colorway is hard though. The K2's and K4's are always sizes too small or a size 13. I got lucky a few months ago and scored a pair of the K3's, they were actually owned by Jeremy Wray.
88's are probably harder to find. Rarely see pairs for sale.

Axion Aries black size 8.5 deadstock never worn with original box. However, just discovered the foam is falling apart and the sole is basically falling off. Would let them go for cheap if someone wanted to repair them for the collection. Couldn't really be worn though.

Wow, I had the exact same problem with my Heaths. I loved the shoe but the sole was bald in a week. I emailed Emerica and they sent me a brand new pair of Herman 2's instead. I still have those Herman 2's because I don't want to skate them, I like them too much.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the sole on the huf slip ins ether, way too thick for that style shoe. These are a uk 7, and fit true to size if not a bit small, so a uk 8 foot would still fit nicely. Well if anyone's interested I've got these, and the grey suede ones that I wouldn't mind parting with.

Ahh , I'm not the person you replied to but what size do you have? Were they true to size? If so 10. I've scoured the Internet in hopes of finding a pair of these. The tobacco and grey looked amazing too. I wish huf could rerelease these somehow. The slip ons look good but I don't like the sole.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the sole on the huf slip ins ether, way too thick for that style shoe. These are a uk 7, and fit true to size if not a bit small, so a uk 8 foot would still fit nicely. Well if anyone's interested I've got these, and the grey suede ones that I wouldn't mind parting with.

I haven't worn them in a little bit, but I remember that they have a little bit of extra space in the toes.
They've also never been skated by the way--I used to just wear them to walk around in when I worked at a museum in college. There's just a little bit of wear on the heel.

Oh Zoom Tre, the only skate shoe I've never put a hole in. They also broke in so easy and had exceptional ankle support. Such a lovely shoe. <3
I think that shoe was a flop because of how durable they were. My theory is that people who bought them didnt had to buy new shoes for a long long time so they didnt sell that many. I saw a couple pairs at the outlets at the time. Still one of my favs Nike sb models ever. So well thought in all aspects. Anybody remember the zoom fp's? I was so hyped about them at the time, never saw a pair in person tho.

If I had to pick one pair of shoes all time that I personally remember skating and that felt the best for my feet its these. I had one of every color way made back in the day. I bought every pair in my size the shop at the time had, and sat on them for a while. Its still the first thing I scour ebay for, i wouldn't even hold onto them, Id skate the shit out of em. I heard rumors Es might re release them, Im hoping the sole is not stiff this go around. First ones were so flexible and good.
Like Dunks, the older ones that everyone swoons over from a while ago are the best cause the sole is flexible as shit, the new re done sole sucks, its stiff as shit just causing the shoe to feel boxier than it is/should be.
Es tried to re do the SLB 2 years ago and the made it kind of half assed and slightly off kilter from the original, I have a pair of the samples somewhere, they were super stiff and not as comfy. the neoprene sock and ankle support were the best part of the OG and they can't skimp on that if they're re-done.
Sorry for this rant, I'm very passionate about the SLB 2,to me it's like the Shelby to Nick Cage in Gone in 60 Seconds

A friend of mine has this pair of used Saviers to sell and i'm not sure if i should pull the trigger or not. He wants 10 euros for them but they are kinda trashed... I love this model/colorway but i dont know if they're worth it.

Yeah, i know i could give them a new life but i dont really have the time for it or wanna make the effort, they have some drips of paint and look worse in person than the photo. I actually searched for this model on ebay after posting that picture and found a portuguese seller that has them in the og color (dark blue) in a 9 (my size) new, with box, keychain, extra laces, for 90 euros. I think it's more worth it.

If Vans started production of the Era, Old Skool, Sk8 Hi, etc. made in USA with the same measurements and silhouette from the 60s-70s I'd be perfectly fine with paying $100-$150.

Yes! I had those with the SAG pants back in the day and went to an Osiris signing in NYC all decked out. Smolik was pretty stoked and gave me a sticker the size of a deck. I was such a YOsiris fanboy back then, The Storm changed my life! I would totally buy them again if I saw them in 10 or 10.5 at a reasonable price.

Honestly, as much as I love them for the looks those particular hemp/synth grasshopper (I believe they were actually called the cricket) were the only pair of I-paths I owned that actually had functionality issues. I seem to remember the entire sole separating from the rest of the shoe when skating Worcester MA skatepark, The others however held up beautifully!
Funny thing is I don't at all remember skating the Yogi's, and actually only just realized last night that I did in fact own them in that very colorway. I wore them Senior year high school is about all I seem to be able to remember... those were some hazy days.
But yeah, if anyone comes across size 11-11.5 early era I-paths in great condition a PM would be much appreciated. I'd pay a hefty sum for some of those original models.

haha after all these years it's hard to keep up on all the Orthoptera model names.
I think I just could have got a bad shoe to be honest. I remember in typical I-path fashion they felt very nice, and skated well prior to said incident. I probably found some way to compound the fact, as I have destructive tendencies.
It's amazing how well received I-path seems to have been in the eastern part of the world, Something I had absolutely no idea about. Yes I would be eternally grateful if you happen to see anything rad in size 11 (us), and hit me up.

wouldn't necessarily maim / kill / pay a small fortune to get another pair of those nowadays, but those are the skate shoes i have the fondest memories of. they were the first skate shoes i ever bought for myself as a kid with birthday money that weren't cheap vans / converse / even tennis shoes from chain sporting goods store (small town upbringing, closest skateshop had to be two hours away, no money for the real deal back when shoes were averaging 120 euros in the very early 2000's, no internet sales back then etc...). got them not too long after WHL came out and was really stoked on eS back then, they had the most amazing roster and now they had pj ladd. anyway those accel plus' managed to endure over three months of daily skateboarding, felt amazing, and i remember wearing them to a hotel around the time i was seeing my first girl so i must have had some good times in them in general. colorway may look funky & outdated by now but back then i was convinced the whole picture was the epitome of a proper skate shoe so fuck that !

I would buy these so fast. They were nice bc they were slimmer than Accells, and skated beautifully. Just perfect imo, they should have never stopped producing this shoe. Someone bitch at Kelly Hart enough to get him to pull the trigger on a reproduction, and get Creager a check in the process.

Again, had these in the black and white colour but these always looked brilliant with the one colour toe. And nostalgia aside, I think these would probably still be feasible to skate in, even with the big air pocket in the heel the forefoot was surprisingly good for board feel.

I had those Colin McKay 3’s aswell in all black.
The clocker was a weird shoe never skated those they were kinder the price point
Dc at the time however they got strangely appealing when there was footage of penny skating all
Brown ones even tho he was on es.. I guess some people thought they were his usual
Brown accells..

It was Ronnie Creager shoe.
I would buy these so fast. They were nice bc they were slimmer than Accells, and skated beautifully. Just perfect imo, they should have never stopped producing this shoe. Someone bitch at Kelly Hart enough to get him to pull the trigger on a reproduction, and get Creager a check in the process.
Oh man, that photo is crisp, and that colorway. I'd hop on the Creager reissue train, but es has fucked most of their reissues and I think this one requires precision because of how skateable it was despite having quite a few panels and an air bubble.
