Title: Short bolts (Warning! most anal thread)
Post by: 360 frip on March 30, 2015, 04:36:38 AM
Are there any bolts shorter than shorties Silverados 7/8's?

Using new Thunder titanium lights and the head of the bolt sticks out by 3mm or so.A tragedy I'm sure you'll all agree...

Anyone know of bolts that are shorter than Shorty's?

No Philips bullshit either. Only Allen key.

What board are you riding?

I'm skating a Politic with Shortys 7/8 lights and the bolts are just long enough to be tightened. There's nothing sticking out past the nut and I can't tighten them anymore. Just the way I like them.

I'm pedantic over hardware since I bought a set of Shortys. The thin nuts and smaller heads work well; I've never broken their bolts, whereas I used to snap other hardware all the time.

EDIT: I skate Indys, so that probably makes a difference, too.

Just replace stock Shorty's nuts with bigger ones.
Those 7/8 Silverados and Lights have really thin nuts, most other brands have bigger nuts.
Shorty's 1 inch bolts have bigger nuts so just use nuts from that set.

Thank you commander! Wise words. I was thinking of filing them down! Dumb fucker!

I'm riding a Polar at the moment. Yeah, it is the Thunder baseplates they are quite a bit thinner than the regular ones. Glad I'm not the only choosy fucker on here. It sort of grates every time I look at them...

I don't think skateboarding hardware companies make 3/4" bolts, but that is obviously your next step... to the hardware store!

Nice to know I'm not the only one OCD about hardware  ;D

For me, I can only rock 7/8' Black Allens with the flatter tops/smaller heads to make it flush with the grip, and silver nuts only. Also, I can never skate Phillips head, shit just looks ugly to me. I know it sounds ridiculous, haha.

It's because your trucks have a forged baseplate. I'm pretty sure 7/8 is as short as they get.

Also, reevalute your priorities man, I'm starting to worry.

Yeah, I was hoping to tempt him in and disappoint him, but I guess not all gay guys do a forum search for 'anal'.

Thought someone might have some weird anal bolt photo too, butt...

He is missing out though.

I'm not too OCD about hardware, only slightly. Gotta have a different colored bolt (preferably green) in the lower left corner on the front truck. Lucky kickflip marker.
I like the rest to be all black, and they have to be all Phillips, and preferably 1 inch.
I'm really only OCD about the one colored bolt (been doing it since I was young, just a habit that's stuck) and it being all Phillips (just cuz its always impossible to find someone with an allen key when you need one, but someone always seems to have a Phillips screwdriver laying around somewhere). The 1 inch and the rest being all black thing is what I prefer but I'm not gonna freak out if my hardware doesn't meet those two requirements.

I was misled.

Don't think you'd want to fuck around with 3/4s of an inch.

Sorry, for any disappointment caused.

I thought my bolts were too short for my nuts.  Now, I know there is nothing wrong as long as it's anal.  Thank you for this thread.

Need me some of those Kalis bolts. Plus Reserve is the what the company is called.

Anyone remember Project Hardware?? They had the same shit and they never took off. It's an awesome idea. This time they'll stick around cause it's Kalis. It'll get more support, I feel.
