Title: Polar P1
Post by: 360 frip on May 24, 2015, 06:43:26 AM
I bought one as a cruiser but then decided to skate it as my regular board.

Are there any other similar shapes to this about? Really enjoyed skating it.

The p5 is similar with less taper but similar squared tail and rounded nose.
Same Wheelbase and length.

Skated the P3 shape as my normal skate deck and loved it.

Skated the P3 shape as my normal skate deck and loved it.

Strangely enough, I usually skate a 8.1 or so and bought the p1 thinking it was 8.25, it slowly dawned on me that it was 8.75, but didn't really feel too wide at all.

May buy another.

Yeah I was skeptical buying it cause I even knew the size going in but I really liked it too, had no trouble flipping my board still.

Sorry to bump this but I'm going to pick up a couple more and was wondering what the "widest point nose 7.0" means?

The wording is a little weird but it's meant to be width then nose.  For example the P1 is 8.75 at the widest point (it tapers toward the rear) and has a 7.125 Nose

Where it says 'widest point' it's referring to the width. These boards taper except the P5 I think, so 8.75 at the widest point, tapering smaller toward the tail.

Widest point refers to the upper spot before the bolts where the deck is widest.
Nose is showing the length of the nose with measurements following.
Two separate aspects .

Thanks. Sorry, I was reading it weirdly. I see, if it said 8.75 (widest point), nose 7.125 may be I'd have got it. Bit slow today...

I'd actually like to know the width of the board at the truck end.

Still, I think I will pick up a P3 and P4. Really enjoyed the P1.

I was skating it with 8 inch Thunder highs and it seemed fine but would 149's suit it better?

Cheers for the replies and for listening to my banal questions!

And actually those are the old p1 measurements. Pontus posted about shortening the tail by 1/8 and the overall length too.
And we had one of each t the shop and it is a noticeable difference.

basically i'm using P3 and P1 switching beetwen the two of them.
great both the P1 if u need more space into ollie and having longer boards.
p3 is perfect for everythings.

Cheers for that Diagram Paco Supreme. Ive got a better idea of the dimensions.

So, am I right in saying thunder 149s would be too big for these boards, as the back trucks will hot rod out a bit?

No that is the size you would want, if you went with a 147 your front truck would be sitting way in and your back truck would be slightly as well.
I ride 149s on this set up fine.

I used 149s on this shape as well and don't think any other truck size wold work that well. In saying that, I did not get along with the P1 very well. The taper is pretty dramatic. I wasn't feeling how narrow it was towards the back truck.

Exactly. I still have my p1 set up as a cruiser board. I've had 3 p5's and they're great.
