Title: Stevie Williams opening new shop in Atlanta
Post by: ben3350 on July 25, 2015, 12:40:50 AM
Apparently he's gonna try his hand again at opening another shop in Atlanta. I remember the last one he opened was right across the street from stratosphere, which was a dick move and not a very smart one either. Grant Taylor is bigger than Stevie Williams in skateboarding, even in Atlanta.

Now that it looks like it's a good distance from any other shops, I'll back it if it seems cool. The bigger the ATL scene the better, in my opinion.

I can see it now, huge posters of Stevie all over the shop, nothing but the DGK video playing on the TV.

sk8tique had that nice mini ramp though!

but yeah, down the street from strat, wasn't really cool. but i get wanting the shop to be in a hip location. sk8tique was ran right at all. My homie went in there to buy a deck and a hoodie, they didn't have cash to make change and they just gave it to him. They hardly had any product, it was mainly just a place to like host events if anything.

maybe hell run it right now, i live near the new shop

Did you know Stevie was the first black guy to make it alright for all you little hood niggas to skate?

He's like skateboarding's Jay-Z and...

Cool story, Leland Ware. More groundbreaking journalism from the guy who wrote an article describing a Lakai ad.

Atlanta is the blackest city in America, no way GT is more popular out there. Stevie already has a private park in Atlanta, he knows what he's doing. Good luck

You're a fucking idiot and obviously have never been to atlanta. Grant Taylor is way bigger and more respected in skateboarding than stevie williams, does stevie even skate anymore? He's more popular in the club scene, but skateboarding no way. Grant Taylor and the stratosphere crew own the skate scene in atlanta.

Him having his own private park means nothing, just means that he's attained some wealth from the industry, just like many big pros.

The fact that Stevie's first skateshop venture across the street from stratosphere closing after a year proves that.

Nothing wrong with it. It's just the first time stevie did, he opened it right across the street from stratosphere in L5P.

Since this shop is far enough away, there's no problem with it but some people still think stevie is a kook because of what happened.

I'm just hoping it's going to be an actual skate shop instead of a more hood supreme store or something.

A few things:
-Stevie hasn't had a park in Atlanta in almost a year.
-Everyone was against his first shop because he opened it across the street from Strat after he felt they "disrespected" him. It was also run like shit. A buddy of mine tried to buy a board and they didn't have change, so they just gave it to him.
-It seems like every other kid I run into loves the DGK/hood rat image he's selling, so he'll probably do well for himself appealing to that market alone.
-Seeing Stevie talk about himself in the third person in interviews is fucking embarrassing.

Well atlanta has been his home for the last few years. It's a much nicer city than Philly as well.

Who said Hotlanta is much nicer than Philly, you? Philadelphia is an awesome city, with different types of people, culture, ethnicities, etc. Just like any other major city, there are nice parts and not so nice parts. It's just that Philly's bad sections are REALLY bad, but that's just a small slice of the city as a whole. Plus, Philadelphia isn't in Georgia (thank god), so we don't have to deal with backwards, southern, good ole' boys. The real problem with the idea of Stevie opening a store in his hometown, is that Philly doesn't need a new skate shop. Nocturnal, Kerry's shop, has been around the longest, but Exit is by far the skate epicenter. Nobody is gonna take Exit's crown, skate wise, and we have enough hypebeast street wear stores already. An AYC, Kayo, and Supra boutique would probably do better in Atlanta anyway. Actually, I have no idea.

The neighborhood changed so much retail prospect wise where he could open a skateshop. On the low I met this 'business partner' guy down the street from me thatvwas utter trash talking about he should have a skateshop, if I showed you his store or ramp it is laughable(tatoo 'skateshop'). .a guy who feels 'action sports' owes him something when in reality he's fat and needs a slapping. Also the shop would be way the heck out there like something as Clayton county, not in the city at all
