Title: Overalls
Post by: ZEBRA on August 30, 2015, 11:58:10 AM
Who's ready for this new trend??

And who's partaking??

Dickson just came out with some on Altamont, and they're supposedly sold out everywhere, from what a guy I know told me.

KR3W also has some. Come in at like $80. A little crazy. I would rather buy Dickies or Carhartt's. Pretty sure they would last longer, too.

What you'll actually look like when you follow said trend:

I think that trend is pretty lame, but when dickson wears em it makes me wanna steal many things to afford his altamont ones

Taylor Caruso skates in some that I believe are on some type of raw selvedge hype...  Dickson ones look wack but altamont is a company for little kids anyway.  If you're going to run it you got to get some duck canvas carhartt joints probably.

Gonna have to go 2 straps. Not cool enough for just the single strap.  ;)

Seriously though, I'm interested in what people think of it. A lot of negative feedback in here so far.

I kinda dig it. I've actually been thinking of getting a pair for awhile now. Just haven't pulled the trigger. I know a couple people that I'm friends with that are backing it. Something fun, new. I mean, where else do we go from the Dickies/rolled up pants trend??

I don't know man, it's a fad, one that my okie relatives would really back. Also babies. Just wear pants.

Dickson thinks he's keeping it real wearing overalls because his grandparents have a farm. But we all know he was best friends with Steez Ortiz in highschool.

As long as they've got the peek-a-boo flap on the bottom I think this is a wonderful new trend.

I have a pair and i love them. super comfy. just get the right size cuz if they're too big they're weird to skate in.

People have been skating Dickies for over 15 years. Is that a length of time where something can be considered a trend? You can't beat $20 skate pants that last forever. That's just good sense. Shit, people have skated in overalls off and on throughout the years too. But, they have always looked stupid.

You're right, people have been skating in Dickies for a long time. I was running them 13 years ago, myself. Only to pick them back up again just a few years ago.

The question is, have they been this prominent in skating before?? No. Pretty sure Dickies didn't have a skate team 15 years ago. And I'm pretty sure 9 outta 10 skaters weren't running them. And if they did have a team before, who was on?? Cause I don't remember them having a team. Haha

I kinda would like it if it didn't blow up. Would be weird to go to the skatepark and you had 3 different guys skating in overalls. I honestly don't know if I would skate in them.

The Antihero team circa early 90s called and they want their 'trend' back :-*

I could actually back the return of goofy boy, at least it's functional to skate in clothes that are easy to move in. Overalls are fine if you are in the barn or fixing your car or some shit but they seem like they would be uber annoying to be jumping around in. Then again, when has skate fashion ever been about function right?

marc j was getting some mileage outta tan dickeys and a white shirt 20 yrs ago. i had some 'bibs' w/ the ass blowed out. it's kinda fun to be dressed up as a giant osh kosh baby and people can get used to anything but i think it's a bad look. black kids usedta rock farmer jeans when i was in middle school. that mac demarco kid made em popular these days, a lot of his songs suck but he's like the 2nd coming of roddy piper so i guess he's ok.

By "Farmer jeans," are you talking about the jeans w/ the hammer loop and extra pockets?  Those were huge when I was in HS in NY.  I had a sweet Guess pair- size 38 no doubt.  Overalls seem kind of cool in theroy, but I think they would look stupid on almost all skaters.

nah, i'm keeping w/ the title of the thread. you've never heard of overalls being referred to as 'farmer jeans'? it's right up there w/ the pitchfork as far as farming stereotypes are concerned. they are the preferred legwear of 88% of scarecrows too.

I wouldn't consider overalls a trend, but if you want to get ahead of it you should rock the one strap down like they used to do when I was in middle school.  get a parker lewis haircut and bump some color me badd and you'll make sean pablo blush

I have a friend whose a Jon Dickson fanatic who wears overalls like every time I see him now. He's short and chubby so he looks like a Minion wearing em. It's pretty funny to see.

lisa 'left eye' lopes and i had a one sided romantic relationship in the 90s. a piece of me died that day in honduras. i repeat [w/out my accent for added seriousness] A PIECE OF ME DIED THAT DAY!
for the love of left eye and all that is holy, don't sully her memory by digging up her corpse and skating in her decaying clothes.

duude a while ago saw this big boobed Asian girl(prolly Chinese/Chinese Canadian) wearing whites ones that were short as fuck to the point a good amount of her ample bare ass was showing, combined with tight striped crop-top, it was magnificent, if you cant live up that just stick with pants

I don't think they look good on the average skinny skater. Jon dickson has the chunky/powerful thighs and hips to make em look good. I win for skater's with curves everywhere!

Oh yeah, easily 25 years.

I remember when I was younger my friend wanted a chain wallet so bad, but his dad wouldn't get him one, for whatever reason. Probably cause "hoodlums" wear them. He took his dogs choke chain collar and tucked it in his pocket to make it look like he had one. Haha
