Title: Istanbul
Post by: artichoke on October 07, 2015, 10:03:33 AM
I'm going to be in Istanbul twice for 8 hour layovers next month, has anybody skated there?  I'll have my board and would love to hit a central plaza for flatground / ledges / banks.  Preliminary googling tells me that all the shops look kooky, is there a worthwhile shop i'm missing?

I went there on a skate trip in 2008, I'm sure the city has changed a lot since then. One of the main spots in the city is this plaza by the harbour, near/in Besiktas. I went on Google earth and I'm pretty sure it's called Barbaros Parki Besiktas. Check out Road Less Travelled, it's the first spot they skate in the Istanbul section. The ledges, the little stairs, the statue surrounded by little fences you can jump over, it's all that spot. It has these old cannon pipes on the ground that are photographed a lot, those are a good landmark.

That's the one I would recommend.
