He looks like he's struggling not sure if he was tired or he's getting older is taking a toll on him.

The ender was definitely one of the better ones I've seen. He is getting a bit pudgy though.

I'm a big fan but he didn't look as fast as usual. He seemed off.

Truth. This is the first thing in years that made me actually want to see a new part from him.

that was a treat, I like the new pudgy p-rod it's almost like he's becoming a human, no more perfect robo landings and I think it's good cause it adds  more character to his skating. p-rod is starting to grow on me and it's been a while cause the last time I liked him was when he rode for girl.

Fuck!!! That ss back flip out. Paul is the true switch god, cause he rips on both stances.

I was excited for his part after reading the comments, but after that first switch kickturn, I got bummed. Not even an axel stall. He had good ass tricks, but 2 or 3 chances to do a tranny trick passed right by.

Switch kick turn was dope. Alec has the best run and gun so far but he's not going to win.

Well that was just fuckin insane! Went into watching this thinking that I'd be underwhelmed, and when it starter of with him looking like struggling I thought that Paul has fell of. But then the switch tail flip out and the last trick especially blew my mind. Him looking kinda sketchy and heavy made the ender feel so much more insane. That trick down a pretty legit 10 stair rail seems like an ankle destroyer.

Wonder what's up with prod though, he's doing harder and harder tricks on the daily, but at the same time looks like he hasn't skated in a year

Paul has always skated slow . that is one thing that comes up in all his threads

Amazing run , maybe luan had more shit in there , but all of Pauls tricks were amazing , and grinded / slided long . And that ender came out of nowhere holy shit
Title: Re: Paul's Run & Gun
Post by: sexualhelon on December 13, 2015, 09:06:39 AM
If we're comparing it to Luan's run, I think it's a bit like apples to oranges and more of a preference in a way. All of Paul's tricks were insane and to do them all in a run with that ender is fucking crazy. Luan's going fast as fuck, not doing the easiest stuff either, and definitely wins on the numbers/looks good front. Paul doesn't seem to be going too fast for his run and those kickturns :o. He really needs to learn some tranny to throw in between his other tricks - everything looks like he's so street league mentality. Would really change people's perception of his skating I think.

it's seems like he is having trouble pushing so I'm guessing he's nursing a knee injury of some kind. That's not stopping him though, cause that ender was straight fucked up. Nollie heel out of a crook on a round bar  / hand rail? Fuck yourself in the face if you think that shit comes easy.

And for those of you calling the man fat, he ain't fat, it's just straight genetic determinism rearing the fist in the ass of fate:

He was probably trying that line for hours..they give them 24 hours to finish one for a reason.  That line was no joke.  I bet none of the "younger" dudes would be able to pull that of.  And he's not THAT old..he's only 30 I believe.  Fat or not..that crooked grind nollie heel happened

These complaints about transition...I don't get it. So if Paul did a few more transition tricks but less ledge or stair tricks, would you also complain? Probably not.

Either way, I'm a big Rodriguez fan, but Alec Majerus has had the best run so far

Wow.  He said he hasn't been super hyped on filming video parts but he definitely still has it in him.  Loved that trick selection.  Anyone saying he was looking off is tripping.  Maybe he has an injury, but just trying to do that line over and over would kill anyone.

I did mention he had good ass tricks. You know the whole thing would have been better he he did something for that second trick, I don't want to see him axel stall, but it would have been better than the kickturn, if he had done a switch blunt on there or disaster, that would have been great without being too hard for him.

A few things.

This "I've never been a P-Rod fan" bullshit needs to stop. Every part he's ever put out has been top tier, one of the best skaters alive type stuff. Every part. If this run somehow made you abandon your previous stand on Paul Rodriguez, then you straight up have been blind. None of the tricks he did were out of character in any way.

Too many of you are framing this as if this a Luan vs P-Rod competition. There are ten dudes in this. If you're impressed with Luan's run (you should be), you should know that almost everyone else blows him out of the water. No one else has his speed or flick, but they are going for broke in terms of difficulty and creativity. I know I'm asking a lot out of some of you guys, but you need to go to the berrics and watch the rest.

He more than likely was trying this line all day. He's not losing it, he's just showing fatigue.

Oh, and anyone who thinks he's getting fat is fucking regular.

imo.. that ender was the craziest thing out of all of the run & guns to me so far... i think...

2 things :

have ppl forgotten or do they just not care how good carlos ribeiros is?... his switch heel back smith on the hubba?

2nd, this comp has to go to tiago.. i mean honestly, the switch front feeble? the switch flip back lip to switch bigspin tail?... pretty sure no one in the entire skateboarding world could ever do some of the shit he did.

i scored prods higher than luans tbh... yeah he looks like he put on a pound or 2 and it was a little sloppy for prod on most of the tricks but.. i dno, most of you niggas think some of these pro's are aliens i feel like. anyways..

Paul's skating looks off due to his setup change. In this videos he's skating venture highs instead of the usual lows. they have an entirely different feel.

cannot fathom the mental stamina needed to get through these runs. how do you get up again after hail mary'ing a nollie heel out of that rail at the end and start from scratch w/o your legs going to shit. won't find party animal pros entering this contest.

the berrics is a street plaza setup, i can let lack of transition slide it'd be different if some mug was at burnside doing kickturns.

growing up juggling soccer balls might be the key to elite skateboarding, brazilians are the greatest natural skaters on earth.

Brazil's soccer team is the worst it's been in decades. Run n Gunners get a full 24 hours they can use the park 2-3 times with sleep until they make one they're happy with. Chase probably knows the perfect formula to win, but even he is falling down and breaking cameras now.

seriously. he also had to change it up apparently. i bet more than half the people on here couldn't do a switch pivot if their life depended on it, who gives a shit about that? the one valid point anyone has made against this line or a few others is that he picked his board up which bothered me a bit too at first but, he wouldn't have been able to end it with a bang like that without picking up his board.
