saw someone say this in another thread & cant find the post.
i started skating a couple years after yeah right but it was one of my first videos.
did they stop being cool when the handrail craze came in?
seems like they were always popular from my perspective (watching old videos from before i skated) but i was hoping someone who was there could give me an opinion.

I remember some article talking about this, the number of manuals in Yeah Right and possibly Mouse? Maybe Goldfish? But regardless that waste of space was for sure in a Transworld. And yes, the number was significantly higher in Yeah Right than the other girl vid.

I'd say Mike Vallely in Speed Freaks did the most to get the ball rolling.

Interesting question. I don't feel like the popularity of manuals was affected much one way or the other by Yeah Right, but there were a ton in there, now that I think about it.:)
I feel like Jason Lee played a large role in popularizing manuals early on & they've always kinda been "in" ever since. Other people were better in a technical sense around that time than J Lee (daewon, brian lotti, etc.) but he made them look so good that everyone wanted to do them after that. Agree that Mike V was an important figure - especially his Rubbish Heap part, as was Natas, who really started the whole thing - for me & most of my crew, anyway - in Wheels of Fire.

They popularized a few things including Girl skateboards brand down to everyones shoewear kit. Between Mike york, Biebel, Koston, Rick howard. .just that short list alone they gave skating a definite all around feel. I'd have to say they did
