This is something I try to catch every time its on . Enjoy video games and donate if you can , or just support in spirit
they raised about $1.5 million last year , and theres some awesome Zelda playthroughs and other great games

Awesome Games Done Quick is a bi-annual charity gaming marathon. Volunteers play games at incredible speed ("Speedrunning") for entertainment. The event is streamed live online, non-stop, and all donations go directly to the charity. This is our winter event

It takes a pretty goddamn clever mind to dissect/optimize a game and discover game-breaking glitches. A large portion of these people have day jobs as programmers and other tech stuff, they're not just basement dwelling nerds who play games 24/7. A lot of them make a supplemental income off of streaming these games, too.
They raised $1.2 million last week for cancer research. What did you do?

The glitchy and super-quick ones and TASs can be fun to watch, and I've seen longer ones over a period of several days, but I just don't get watching regular speedrunning. I can see watching them for tips, but it just seems pretty arduous. I dunno. I'm just not committed to full-on nerdery, I guess.

Had a killer time catching a LOT of this event. Lucky to have a job where I can play this type of stuff in the background while I work.
As awesome as it was, I am also looking forward to other streams being back now that the event's over. Some of my favorite channels on Twitch tend to die down during GDQs... a good amount of them are there participating!

This past games done quick they managed to raise $2,221,880.46 which was a new record as well as first Games Done Quick event to raise over $1 million in a single day.
To date, Games Done Quick has raised over 10 million dollars for charity!

I hope it goes without saying that I've had this shit blastin' almost constantly all week. While I drive around at work all day I've had it playin' on my phone, and I've been passing out to it on my laptop at home. So good! They exceeded the 1million mark earlier tonight.
I miss YSG (might be a bit before you guys' time... I've been on the GDQ tip since like 2012 or 2013)

Number of bans of popular runners
Chat only being sub mode
Cracking down on language
Bans on people asking regular questions and emotes
The runners themselves
Lower donations
But its still a good watch and for a good cause
Mega Man and Mega Man X races were the best so far

i only watch some game developer stuff live, otherwise I just youtube speedruns and such.
i'm curious what you speedrun and if you're willing to share your youtube/twitch channel? i get it if you don't want to.i probably won't ever watch you stream but am just curious
