well you have krooked, anti hero, and real and those are the same woodshop and cliche uses the same woodshop as landscape. the ones i just mentioned are all perfect imo
Title: Re: Best Decks
Post by: deadline on February 07, 2007, 04:38:14 AM
Yeh i realise some of them use the same woodshop but they use different shapes..
Title: Re: Best Decks
Post by: mikefork on February 07, 2007, 04:39:33 AM
deluxe uses for the most part the same shapes and the cliche i am riding has the same shape as my landscape did and my heroin board
Title: Re: Best Decks
Post by: deadline on February 07, 2007, 04:41:04 AM
I would think landscape don't do big enough orders to have their own shapes but im not sure, that might be true of heroin also... don't know about deluxe i could group them all together?
Title: Re: Best Decks
Post by: mikefork on February 07, 2007, 04:43:14 AM
yeah you can group the deluxe ones together. you'd be suprised in how many heroin/landscapes actually get sold. we will get ten in a week because the distrubutor lives 30 minutes away so he brings them up for us so we don't have to pay shipping and they are usually all gone by closing time two days later

Thats pretty sick.. i see loads cos im in the UK but i didn't know they sold so well in the states.. I ride landscapes usually

my friend colin rides for heroin. everyone and i mean everyone has ahd at least oen of their boards around here. i went to skaters edge and amlmost everyone who knows whats what had either a heroin, true love, or landscape. i have had probably had twelve boards total within the past few months from those three companies

exclusive shapes and concaves cost serious $ so often times the same shape will be used across different companies...but you all know that.

as far as best decks, i'd say any brands out of the chapman woodshop:

zoo
shut
official
cliche
landscape
heroin

That is fucking sick the UK companies are getting sold over there - it's been a long struggle for a lot of UK companies to get shit sold in the US

What's the cost of UK boards over there - more or less ?

Yeah, I haven't met him yet, but I am bound too as the shop in my town is the only shop on cape with his stuff. He was here one day, but I was working. Colin Fiske is fully on Heroin now right?

I personally like premium...too many people shit on their wood for no reason tough.

I usually mix it up.  I've had great boards from Real,  Think, 5boro, Girl, Popwar, Cliche, and Blueprint recently.  I've liked all of them so much.  The blueprint is a little flat for me because I usually ride a lot of concave but it's definitely lasted the longest.

yeah hes been on since live from antartica came out. he has a bunch of stuff in the battle of normandy video and heroin is making a new video so he can have a part or something along those lines. its going to be called magic sticky hand and from what he is saying it should be out within the next two months. you should see the fucking boards he has fos making him they're 8.5x34.something

I go with DLX. RasaLibre used to be Deluxe too right? Are they still/again? I used to love the old rasadecks. But at the moment I ride communist skateboards also known as "blank". Simply cause I didnīt have the money to afford a graphic. two days after I bought it that IASC anti-blank campagn started and I felt so much better riding a blank deck after that. Thanks ISAC, I used to feel bad for going blank, but now, because of your add I feel like itīs just fine...

I've liked Enjoi boards the most lately, I like the shape, and they feel light for my feet for some reason although probably weight the same as all the others. Lasted quite long too since I skate at least 4-5 times per week and it was good for about 2 months.

Anything pressed by South Central or Drifter.

Then Kayo, and DLX, and Girl/Chocolate. And Alien/Habitat. They are all good. Just personal preference.

ive been riding shop boards, or badnews boards which is a company out of DC that my buddy skates for (i would not recommend, but for $30 i had to try a few.) before the last few cheep decks i had, i was riding a real and it was one of the most memorable decks ive ever had. great shape, great pop.

What are some local/smaller companies you guys support, and how does their wood match up to the major brands?

http://www.badnewsboards.com/ (http://www.badnewsboards.com/)
these were the boards i was riding. not the best shape, but they were strong. had a massive nose, and it was shaped really weird. definitely not comfortable to nollie with at first. and the tails were super short and mellow. worth the $30 i payed for them, but not anything more.

I really like Habitat, but they dont press the shapes I like often enough so its hard to get them consecutively. The only deck I've ever had that I considered perfect was a Habitat last summer. I really like the shapes on Girl and Chocolate but the wood is meh, kinda wish they had some deeper concaves too. DLX wood is good but I cant seem to find a shape that I like, the 8.25 feels like an 8 or something and 8.38 feels too wide, I wanna try the 8.12 though which I havent yet.

I could go on for days on smaller brands. I have tried samples from almost every woodshop in the industry, and really like Drifter and South Central Mfg. I like flatter concave, but the quality from both manufacturers is awesome. The 8.125 Drifter shape is my favorite right now.

Roger uses PS Stix.

They use different wood shops apparently which is bullshit really.

For me PS Stix are best so usually Roger or Stereo, after that I'd probably go for a Powell (spray painted obv.), mainly because they do a really long 8 which is my preferred shape.

Don't think so, maybe for their price points but if you get a roger deck you always get the same wood/shape whereas with habitat it could be ps stix/bareback or something else.
