just posted this on IG if anyone cares...

i'm going to be a part of a new footwear brand called STRAYE. the shoes will be dropping in the next few months & one of my all-time favorite skateboarders will be joining me on the team.

different to most things i've worked on in the past, i won't be responsible for running the brand and it's gonna be fun and carefree; no rules & no apologies

i thank you all for your support and i hope you like the shoes -jamie thomas

Putting on Duffel?

T-Gunz
Slash

What's the image of the brand gonna be like?

Fuck I miss Fallen, I had the Forte, slash and the slip ons, such good shoes, get something like the forte shoes and I'll happily buy them, RIDE THE SKY is a classic, all I've been wearing is Emerica and Vans, can't see myself wearing Nike and Adidas ever

Good luck

Cool idea.. but as from a first impression i see a chuck taylor knock off  ??? im gonna be optimistic and hope the line up has some cool models. i peeped the instagram page and saw the same photo posted by isuck     https://www.instagram.com/thestraye/?hl=en (https://www.instagram.com/thestraye/?hl=en)

so with Straye, State and Proper these are three new skater owned brands that are entering the game? Also FP insoles extension into the shoe game. Looks like a interesting year for footwear

The shoes Jamie posted look alright but these are much more indicative of the brand's direction. A bunch of garish knock off Vans that will be marketed towards the celebrity crossover niche that Supra kinda of operates in. Part of their launch to market strategy is "seeding to influencers" some of which are listed are Rihanna, Cara Delvigne, James Franco, Bieber, Jay-Z, Brad Pitt, Jessica Alba, and Channing Tatum.

The company is actually so embarrassing.

I assure you Bob does no give one fuck about the opinions of anyone. Being an old as ex-freestyler with a smoking wife who is still making bank from skateboarding will do that to you.

back in 2002 I used to work at the GreatMall when Vans skatepark used to be there.  There was this wanna be skate shop called Atomic Garage, one day Bob walks in after skating the park, I so happened to be wearing the old Circle A Anarchy-logo shirt and showed it to him.  He told me to drop by the shop and he hooked it up...hes a good dude.

Side story about that same shop...Sean Penn and his former wife Robin Wright ( house of cards/  forrest gump) walked in with disguises, we recognized them asked why they were in the shop...they told us their kids were skating the park, signed a blank skate board for the manager and left.

I wonder if I'm looking at the same things as you all are.

This is the shoe they've chosen to introduce the brand with on Facebook:

my guess is that these are going to be produced and rebranded by vans. JT posted this on IG not too long ago thanking vans for working with him. if theyre being made by vans then these straye shoes might not be bad if they can get some decent looking designs together.

my guess is that they will sell at the same price point as the vans equivalent. i cant imagine the brand being successful if they sell for more, regardless of quality.

Also not produced or backed by Vans. Started by Angel Cabada who started Supra. My guess is after cashing the fuck in selling to K-Swiss this is his new shit to try and grab that market that Supra occupies. You guys will see as the marketing unfolds how corny this brand is.

^^^^clearly me and Watson got the same info.  I suspect Muska is double cashing in on this one.  Royalties from that Skytop 5 or whatever the fuck that thing is, and then double dipping on this shit.  Angel definitely banked out on that K-Swiss deal and is trying to do the same crap with this brand, trying to get A-list celebs and famous people to wear the brand and make it acceptable to the masses.

Contracts probably. As one contract dies, the other one will become valid and the transition should be as easy as that. If Muska still wants to get paid at Supra, he's going to continue to endorse Supra. I am sure this is what Carroll wanted with MJ as he was exiting.

I have no clue how a shoe company could come out nowadays that just cookie cutters any other shoe or shoe brand. Unless there are companies out there that will just start up anyone. Ooh ooh, just thought of this.....what if shoe brands just sell to anyone for labeling in the future. You know, like, shop shoes. Holy frick, I bet that happens. granted, i would have preferred to see them push it using more actual skateboarders instead of celebrities, but then again it seems like he knows what he is doing. looking forward to see the team, maybe they`ll at least support some guys that deserve a paycheck.

Jamie says that there will be "no rules" and "apologies". It's likely a catchphrase from their broader marketing campaign. The address of Straye is the same as Angel Cabada's Cu4tro LLC (these shoes are in the $200+ range). This appears to mirror his Supra strategy of selling "NS" shoes to idiots and using their skate line to anchor the brand with street cred, but instead there are two different brands with superficially similar logos. A lot of people put shoe goo on when their shoes are new. I do it. I personally believe it adds life to the shoe before it starts to ware down. I for one hate breaking shoes in, even if i was sponsored id still hate it. I like all my shit old and broken in. Could be what JTs deal is, shoes still look like a converse mock tho straight up.

I like the circle A just because I like the thought of the overtly Christian/capitalist Chief supporting anarchism.

I like the idea of the Chief sitting at home reading Bakunin's "God and the State," and saying to himself, "What have I been doing? Religion is only a tool to create false hierarchies within society and capitalism will only lead to barbarism. I must save society by promoting the anarchist atheist communal philosophy through a no rules skateboarding shoe company."

Or maybe he found Tolstoy's Christian anarchist philosophy and all his profits from Straye will go towards developing a communal Christian society.

I wish some of the older pros would just take their money and ability to attract investors and do something outside of skateboarding. Rocco did some amazing and some terrible things, but the best thing he ever did for skateboarding was simply leaving it.

Essentially, Straye/Cu4tro is outside of skateboarding. You can see the progression (regression?) from TSA to Krew to Supra to this. Angel Cabada just sold a $100 million+ company that skateboarders didn't care about, so he knows how to make money from the mainstream. They just need that little bit of street cred in order for outsiders to latch onto it.

Religion is only a tool to create false hierarchies within society and capitalism will only lead to barbarism. I must save society by promoting the anarchist atheist communal philosophy through a no rules skateboarding shoe company."
To be fair if this was going to happen it only would have happened during his militant vegan stage

The shoes aren't the one that's influenced by Channing Tatum, it's you.

Thanks, but I know AF means high as fuck, but I was wondering if there was more to it, to the combination. Like... what does "straye as fuck" really mean? Like a straye dawg that is strayeder (sp?) than the norm? Somehow I fear the truth is way shallower than this and it's just a dumb name for a dumb brand that will probably make a lot of dumb shoes for dumb people. inb4 "guess ur buyin one than lol", I'd probably would get those chucks.

I got some on sale for $20 and immediately returned them. Too small for comfort, and they just screamed knockoff Vans. I wanted to like them but didn't.

#realconfessions

i bought two pairs of slip ons a while ago when they had some buy on get one free sale. they definitely had a lower quality than vans look and feel to them. i also followed their size guide and they were still way too small and i had to send them back. try them on in the a store if you can because they do not do free exchanges or returns. because of the return shipping i ended up spending like $30 basically to try on a pair of shoes that didnt fit.

my recommendation: just get vans.
