Title: E3 2017
Post by: HFS40000 on June 11, 2017, 08:20:36 PM
Anyone following all the new games n shit?  I watched Microsoft's show and wasn't very impressed with the games they had on display.  If you're gonna try to sell people on a $500 console upgrade, you better come up with better stuff than cartoon bullshit and another game about mech suits.

I'm hoping Bethesda announces something new tonight, I've heard rumors of a new RPG in space or something like that.  What games are you looking forward to this year?

Goddamn Bethesda's showcase was a fucking disappointment. Wolfenstein looks great though

If there wasn't an awkward hug moment between Geoff Keighley and his good friend Hideo Kojima, I don't care.

Yeah it was a pretty big letdown, especially staying up super late to watch it.  I was hoping they'd announce a brand new game, there were lots of rumors about a skyrim in space type rpg or something.

Devolver won the whole god damn thing. Their show was the best

I was hoping Sony had some news on Bloodborne 2 but no such luck =(

I'm a total fanboy for sure, but to me Nintendo won the whole fuckin' show.

- New Mario game looks stellar.
- Rocket League with crossplatform play between Xbox and PC.
- Two new Metroid games?!
- Confirmation that there will be a mainline Pokemon entry on the Switch.

Even portable Skyrim is pretty cool, even though Bethesda really needs to stop milking that game.

1) the level of detachment between the gaming industry and its base is worse than any political party.
2) hollywood money has turned games into hollywood creativity; remakes, remasters, porting, reskins, sequels no on asked for, paid for special features
3) prehype is probably the worst thing that ever happened to gaming.

1: Can you expand on this ? The game industry has never been as healthy as it is now. Gaming is huge and more and more games on more and more platforms are being created. Its also possible to make a living on gaming from Esports and Streaming.

We are getting some shitty games and weird stuff is happening. But the indie scene is huge and there are tons of companies creating original games that people love

2: Can you give some examples of remakes ?. By remasters I assume you mean updated versions of old games with new graphics and bug fixes ? I have never heard anyone really complain about this. Is porting really a Hollywood creation ?.

Back in the 80s and 90s we had the Mega man series that was basically the same game over and over with afew updates. Mega Man has more then 10 games of the regular and the Xseries has 8 I belive. Dont hear many people complain

Games noone asked for I guess. But companies has to try right ? I personally dont like games like call of duty and their yearly shitty new game. But there is a audience for it.

At the end of the day the gaming industy is so huge and vast these days that there is no shortage of games to play. So even if you dont buy the shitty games you can avoid them completely and still buy the good games

3: Preorders sometimes goes horribly wrong but alot of them also work out fine. Just dont do it. Calling that hype is a bad thing is a weird thing to say. That people want to stay up on the news and watch gaming trailers and read about all the new stuff you can do that

Or you can just check every 6 months in the store if anything new came in or check some rating site and see what the top games are

Pretty uninteresting to me except for Undertale on Vita because my PC is 10 years old and shit so I couldn't play. And the PS4 Monster Hunter looks cool but I don't have or want a PS4, though it got me replaying MH: Freedom Unite on vita.

This year's E3 was probably the worst one ever. Nothing interesting was shown at all. Xbox One X? Lmfao. Probably won't be able to play games in 4k and even if it did, it would be in 30fps, thus making it pointless.
