So, for the past five years I have been almost exclusively playing emulators on my laptop. Mostly Nintendo64 (Project64) and Gameboy (VisualboyAdvance) just to go back and beat the games I never could figure out when I was younger. Those games, however, have either gotten stale or are unavailable.
Anyone have a favorite ROM or emulation software they could recommend?

I posted about it before on here, but Project Emu is the best I've ever used.
It has an emulator for pretty much every system, and has a pretty good layout as well.

I wanna get one of those raspberry pi's to turn into an emulator

i used a nintendo DS emulator a lot, DeSmuMe played most of the pokemon among some others

I have a ps1 emu that I use here and there but I've logged in heavy MAME usage with the old fighting games. I found this site recently, it has good information.

I've used epsxe to play all the old skate games on PS1
works well on a windows 7 platform haven't tried it on win 10 yet but i think it works

I've been playing Melee and Double Dash on Dolphin for a bit. Theyre not RAM intensive at all, I get 60 frames on my macbook air. I've also been chipping away at sonic 2 in OpenEmu

Still upset that THPS2 stopped working on iOS... I used to play that every day. It's pretty inexcusable that Activision just removed it and never responded to questions/complaints. Now I use PCSXR to play THPS2 on Mac. I also use sixtyforce (N64) and OpenEmu. I'd recommend playing Banjo Kazooie on N64, if you haven't already. Also enjoyed re-playing 1080, although I found it impossible to do the tricks on the emulator version. Diddy Kong racing is also pretty fun in one player mode.

I need to get MAME up and running again but I have a ton of older Neogeo and CPS1-2 rom sets that don't have the current "accepted" checksum values and it gets to be a pain to hunt that stuff down. KAWAKS and the like tend to be more forgiving with your roms.
I can't tell you what the last EMUs I used for 8 and 16 bit consoles were, I tend to just grab whatever from the top of a page. I'd like to try out some Turboduo ISO emulators so I can play Lords of Thunder again although my old laptop died and my wife doesn't want me putting stuff of questionable origin on her new one.

I've put some hours into it. Pretty fun and online community is still active. It's surprising how much work they've put into getting almost every level working on THUG2 engine.

Anyone playing ps1 games on their phones have any idea if it's possible to use the fingerprint scanner as one of the triggers? Just want to play ctr but can't do powerslides with just one finger

I built a PC for my living room because of Cemu - a Wii U emulator. The devs have really come a long way to improve the graphics and eliminate stutters. You can play Zelda BOTW at 60fps with a moderately powerful PC - i5 or 2600 plus a GTX 1060. It runs Mario Kart 8 flawlessly too and setup has never been easier. The project is helping to revive interest in Nintendo's much maligned system. Highly recommend this one especially if you always wanted to try BOTW without shelling out for a Switch.
Another set of devs are working on Yuzu, a Nintendo Switch emulator. You'll need a really powerful PC at the moment (i7 minimum) to get barely playable FPS, and games can crash out easily. Give them a couple more months and they should be even closer to full fidelity.

Just need a ps4 emulator to finally finish Bloodborne, thank you.

I don't know if he still posts hacking how to but this is one of my favorite youtube channels on homebrew stuff.

Seriously considered getting an xbox for emulation needs before they released the rgb-pi cable and OS. Supposedly the best option apart from RPi?
Slightly off topic but has anyone tried playing Playstation games through PS Now on a PC? Apparently the only viable option if one wants to play PS exclusives without getting a console.

Dolphin emulator is the GOAT. Flawlessly plays GameCube and Wii games. Just went through Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, now I'm going through Zelda Twilight Princess.

MVC2 - would love to get back into that game off the emulator.

What controller are you using?
I'd love to play Viewtiful Joe, Ikaruga, the Zeldas, and Resident Evil 4 again.
