man that's one of the spots where i grew up as a kid. my dad lived a block away and bought me a flame boy board just to be able to follow my brother around and keep up with his crew. didn't start trying tricks till a few years later but chaparral was like an emb for me as a kid. awesome to just see that photo of the curved ledge/3 block and reminisce.

To be honest, I think anyone with a Lakai connect would be unlikely to leave unless they have another sweet shoe deal lined up. Although, Raven could easily go to Diamond shoes, but I'd be surprised to see Diamond putting him on so he could leave Chocolate.

He put out a full part 18 months ago, and is pretty legendary. Gino hadn't put out a full part in 12 years and bounced to what people would deem a cool company. Skaters with Jerry's track record are always in demand even if they are slightly producing.

I know Crail is struggling but is any board company really paying these days, at least a noticeable amount difference wise (not talking an extra 100 to 200 a month). Kenny has Cons which is clearly his primary source of income by a wide margin. I can see companies like Element doing it on the backs of their apparel and previously DGK, past that I can't see you making significantly more on royalties with numbers over Chocolate.
At this point, it seems your board brand just legitimizes you and gives you a platform to get big shoe sponsors. Seems more board sponsor moves are more motivated by wanting to hang-out with your friends, people being wronged, or they don't like the new direction.

I saw him yesterday with Bill Strobeck and a bunch of FA kids in New York. He was skating an FA AVE board so he might be filming something with them or he’s just on vacation and skating FA boards. Half the Girl/Chocolate team skated Anti Hero boards anyway so it might not mean anything.

I've tried to draw my own Cindy board once every year or so forever. Never satisfying enough. Wouldn't call Otherness trendy either. But it's the only brand I've bought 6 boards from at once in more than 20 years.
Elijah on Hockey I could easily see. Hopefully not though. Chocolate needs to put out more footy. Doesn't have to be fancy or long. The Weekdays are great, but I need more.
Raven on the other hand could easily go to Football Skateboards. I'd it just his build? Or why does he come across super jockish?

Otherness is Marc Johnsons company, i think Thom Hornung handles the business side of things but Marc isn't just a rider.

2 diff things. shape is just the oval part around it.. 2d template. concave and "flat parts" are caused by the mold and crail boards have that flat part typically because they have short wheelbase.
if they moved woodshops the concave will def change but probably will find somethin similar.

Skateboarders younger than 18 make up most of the market, so they count more than we do at this point lol. It's pretty much run by 14 year olds with their parents money, they're the ones who are keeping this ship afloat.

raven is one of the best skaters i don't give two shits about. Outside of an hour at denmark it's hard to care.
Numbers gets hate but if you have seen 1st and Hope you'd know that LA skating with the long lens and kenny anderson is fucking amazing. i'd love to see him cruising in that cinematic style for a 10 minute clip

Everywhere I've lived the skate scene consists of a pretty even mix of <18 and >18 year old skaters. The majority of young kids ride scooters, which might not be accurate of other places but I bet adult skaters make up a good size of the market.

He really only changed up his shit once when he was sixteen (?), and he's stuck with the "unapologetically 2011" kit for far longer than most have.

There's also not an Eldridge or Roberts board. Idk if I saw a Stevie Perez either. Jerry and Elijah have one offs and boards in the out west and LA series though. Really hope Jerry doesn't leave too. Seems like Elijah is a done deal. Ive noticed some of the bigger name pros are getting two sizes of certain boards. Crails prob trying to boost royalties for bigger names pros. If any one else is leaving, I would prefer it to be Malto. With as many ppl who have left the past 4 years you would think they would try and overhaul the teams to present something fresh instead of keeping the homies on for way too long. Like obviously Carroll rickk and Chico deserve to still have their boards. I think it's time to let Jeron move on, same with Eldridge, Jesus, and mike mo...

IDk man it seems like everytime you hear about Dwindle it's them letting someone go or shutting down a brand, probaly not the best ship to be on, i'm sure Jerry Hsu would be somewhat insulated but idk. Was Jerry the brand manager over there before he left? Part of the Chocolate deal mightve been tojust focus on skateboarding and not the business side of things.

Matt Eversole was the brand manager over at Enjoi through 2013, the team and the sense of humor conveyed in the ads was mostly thanks to his contribution to the brand. When Dwindle forced him out in 2013 (I think they had their hearts set on making the panda the new hot logo in every mall shop, or something along those lines), Jerry bounced along with him, and Louie took over as brand manager -- hence, the reason the team's been in flux these past few years. Enjoi seems to be stable now, but Oververt is still a pretty unfortunate chapter in their history.

Don't know him, but I've seen him at the skatepark a few times. Strikes me as the complete opposite, actually. Said hi to everyone and was super nice to all the kids. Even heard him talking with his friends about going to an alternative location to smoke weed because he didn't want to do it around the younger kids.

I can attest to the fact that Raven is a genuinely cool human. Met him and the Our Life crew at my local in Memphis about a year ago when they made a pit stop on the way to Patlanta's wedding.
Super humble and friendly. Down for a casual conversation. Asked him the dumbest question ever ("excuse me, but are you Raven Tershy?") and he just chuckled and said "yeah, man. What's up? Nice to meet you." Talked a little bit about skating and traveling.
Also, his "warm up" tricks were absolutely fucked up.
Definitely something to witness in real life.

MJ's situation was a debacle because they had a whole bunch of shoes under his name they had to unload, which is why Lakai and shoe companies in general always have contracts. The reason it blew up was because Crailtap thought they could get one last run out of the shoes and let Marc leave quietly (after continually dropping his pay). Then Adidas offered Marc a deal and asked him to be in their new video. Marc was inbetween a rock and a hard place, partially due to unreasonable asks by crail. Simply put, Adidas was going to be his new check and he felt obligated to do it, which makes sense. He probably could have been more upfront about it with Crailtap, but how he was treated in regards to getting continually smaller paychecks and basically told he should find a new deal.
Its a shitty situation seeing Crailtap fall apart like that, but after hearing both sides of the story, I tend to side with Marc on this one. Crail's demands seemed a bit unreasonable. Plus, Koston going on record that he never planned to ever leave Girl and start a new company at 40 (which seems related to what happened with Altamont/Fourstar) and Guy leaving, makes me think there was a lot of desperation in the Crail camp, and MJ leaving like that put a vulnerable company in an even riskier situation. It may have been a dick move by MJ, but I think what they were asking of him in the first place was unreasonable and was out of desperation.
Boards can always be rescreened, its not like selling a shoe with someones name on it. Shops tend to get fucked over more in regards to getting boards that are hard to sell due to team changes, which is why people try to be respectful about it.

Most of the riders for FA rip pretty hard, but I'm not their biggest fan. Look, I think his skating is great, and I'm hyped to see whatever footage he puts out. But, I do think he can be and somewhat should be clowned on for his fashion styke. If one of my friends trend hopped like that, they'd be mocked. This isn't really like guys like Piscopo or Louie who looked completely different as groms and changed up as they got older to what they currently wear. It just seems like trend chasing in the Mikey Taylor sense. I'll probably watch and enjoy Elijah's skating regardless of what he wears (unless he goes to a Borat style mankini), but it is worthy of mocking.

Gilbert Crockett) and "I'm twenty four with a new sponsor, so I'm gonna change my shit up completely overnight." He's too old to rely on whatever's in his box to give him character and an identity. It's very forced, it takes away from his skating, and it makes him the Mikey Taylor of his generation.

Seriously, been wearing the same gear/fit for skating since I was a kid. Important thing to note here is "when skating". Work/lifestyle gear has changed considerably.

I’m one of those weirdos that likes Elijah’s shoe (and TNT’s for that matter), but doesn’t care for Vans.
I also don’t see anything wrong with Elijah’s fashion sense, and feel like it’s much ado about nothing. I’d rather the kid be more of a fashionable fuccboi than a homogenous grain of sand.
