Moving to SF in January and wanting to know what spots to hit first
-
In SF obviously Potrero and the Hilltop park in the Bayview are the go-to's for tranny. The couple times I've been to Hilltop it hasn't been that crowded either.

If you have a car/an hour to kill there's a solid pool at the Half Moon Bay park(and the drive/area is really scenic). The Pacifica park is also really fun too and fairly close(30 min drive?) to the city. As far as pools/DIY spots I don't think it's appropriate to give out details on a message board but if you're in the area long enough I can't imagine you won't hear about them.

These are the only parks I really skate and they all have their charm.
Town Park in West Oakland
Emeryville Skatepark
Berkeley Skatepark
Montclair Mini Ramp
-
There's an empty pool near Lake Merritt that you should try to hunt down. It's pretty gnarly transition though. Ask the dudes at the Emeryville bowl and they might tell you.

This this the new dish park?
looks incredible..

It's been a while since I last been there can any Pals confirm it's still there ?

Fremont skatepark and Roosepark Skatepark in San Jose have some pretty fun bowls with pool coping
-
Phil Shao Memorial skatepark can be found within Red Morton park in Redwood City. Fun park with good tranny and
a good amount of variety, but very burnt and potentially aggressive locals so watch out for that.
Greer park in Palo Alto is a Bay Area skateboarding monument, and is fun if you wanna skate tranny but don't really feel like doing/don't know how to do grinds. Watch out for the slippery pavement.

Brisbane is a cool little spot as well. pretty isolated and stays quiet most of the time
also Shoreview in San Mateo is ledge/manny pad city

Reviving this zombie thread since I basically got the same question, spots for transition around the Bay?
I live in SF and commute to San Mateo. I mostly skate Potrero del Sol and Pacifica when I can, and ride a bit at Brisbane for chill afterwork sessions. I think the only skate parks in the City I haven't hit are Balboa and the new UN Plaza park (which is almost certainly too street-focused for my style / ability).
Work should be pretty chill during the holidays, so hoping to go a little further afield to check out bowls in South and East Bay. I really liked Sunnyvale the one day I hit it. I'm intrigued by Lake Cunningham. I briefly hit Fremont a while back but it was swarming with summer camp groms so didn't get a great feel for it.

Give Fremont another shot, try a weekday, the traffic is generally light then. Newark is worth checking out while you're in the area. Lake Cunningham is a blast but you have to pay to get in and wear full pads and their hours are kind of weird. The transition at Millbrae is okay to pretty good depending on which ramp you're looking at, I think you should check it out considering it's in the middle of your commute. Also try Menlo Park and Greer, those are fun.

Thanks, helpful. Millbrae slipped under my radar, I'll check that one out.
I forgot I hit Newark a few months ago, good call out. That one is a lot of fun and under the radar.
I really need to get back to Fremont sometime. The setup was dense and super chaotic with so many kids. I actually took a day off to ride out there, but didn't account for the summer camps. I hit it for like 10 minutes then immediately drove to Sunnyvale lol.

Napa Kennedy park is worth the trip and St. Helena is really worth the trip if you have time
-
There aren’t many skateparks I’d drive more than 45 minutes to go to, but St. Helena is really nice. If you decide take the 101 north you could hit Novato, (skip San Rafael) Petaluma, Santa Rosa park, then take a nice scenic drive east to St. Helena and skate under the lights all in one day.
-
Balboa sucks and it makes me mad because it's right down the street from me. I gotta email my local representatives and tell them to hire Kanfoush for a rebuild.
-
McInnis Skatepark can be annoying with helmet police sometimes but has couple fun bowls for different skill levels.
Kind of runs on a downhill slope from low impact zone to huge bowl at the end

They really need to blow that place up and start over.

The labeled stages of McGinnis crack me up.

That’s rad. I might go there it’s been like 5 years.
