Since 12 years old I have not worn denim "jeans" at all. They got retired as soon as I hit 6th grade and started skating. Since then I have been on chinos and cargo pants exclusively.
I want to get some denim to skate in, but am reluctant to pay high dollar for some skate jeans that might not even be comfortable or comparable to my cargo pants.
What do you guys think? Have a favorite pair of jeans you swear by? Who makes them? Are they all shitty and stiff at first and then get worn out and comfy over time? Trying to stay away from 100+ levi skate jeans if I can.
Bought some Altamont A/989 Jeans about 30 minutes ago. Fingers crossed they're what im looking for.

Levi's has a new stretch pants thing going that is actually super nice for skating. Totally different than they used be be, takes no time to break in. I find them to be around $40. The waist stretches though so you need a belt. Only major issue is the rivets on the hip pockets, which I have a tendency to fall on. Been trying Dickie's due to lack of rivets, but they aren't as comfortable (major lack of ball space) and I don't like the look really.

I like Wranglers form walmart/target. They're like 17 bucks and come in a variety of colors and fits.

Stretchy or stiff for skating? Loosen up over time?
-
Levi's is probably the best denim pants in the game, yeah they're ridiculously expensive, but they really are an investment. My favorite pair of pants.
-
Go to the Levi's store, see what style you prefer, then get them for 25 bucks on eBay.
I've been wearing 513s only for 5 or 6 years and they're great to skate in. The new ones have that new stretch thing Beeker mentioned and never disappoint.

Levis are not that expensive when you consider that people pay $200+ for "raw denim."
-
carhartt factory seconds.
-
in what world are levi's an investment
-
Why do people wear jeans? What the fuck are jeans anyway? "I'm not working today, get to wear my jeans(?)" What's wrong with just pants? Jeans are this 50s American cool leftover stupidness.

that's the way to support a business

I got these Volcom Kinkaid jeans. Never really been a fan of Volcom, but these have virtually no logos and are made of this weird stretchy denim. My friend called them maternity pants when I tried to explain it to him. Anyway, they are super sick for skating in. Stretchy denim shit is a game changer.

True, but he said he didn't want to spend much money and I doubt Levi's are gonna go bankrupt if he does this.
I've bought loads of 513s in various Levi's stores and paid full price.
-
got me one pair of some skate levis 501s when i liked to spend money- usually 90€ but the shop gave me a discount and i got em for 65€. wore them straigt for two months and ordered another two pairs for full price- i usually feel guilty about spending so much money afterwards but not in this case, these jeans really hold up and get really comfy after a short time!
but i guess there's plenty of cheaper options, i just like the fit they get over time!
-
i like the levis silvertab baggy jeans, they come in my favorite 'medium blue' color and i think they look great (keep in mind that i dress like it's 1994)

....? This isn't a skate company or shop, Levi's is a massive company, they could pay their third world worker better, more than likely they are also profiting off the improper disposal of industrial waste as well, dumping that classic "Levi's blue" dye into the groundwater which the people getting exploited in the factory also drink and also get poisoned by. They owe, if anything

Jeans are practical and protect your legs from knives and fire.
-
+1 for those Volcom Kinkade jeans. They're like $65 normally but both pairs I have I've gotten on sale for under $30 and they're super comfy.
-
I only skate in jorts the breeze feels great on my taint

I'm wearing a pair of 541s that stretch, they're hands down the most comfortable denim I've worn so far.

Hate the way jeans feel and look
Khakis, swishys, and sweats all day
-
fit is obviously highly personal but Levi's Skateboarding and Volcom are my two top choices quality-wise. And I've been selling "skateboarding jeans" for quite some time.

Volcom jeans are the best skate jeans I've found (and for chilling) and you can easily get them on sale off their website; I'd suggest hitting a shop to find the cut and size you like tho.
Great Chinos too. They're shirts suck tho, Medium is too small and Large is too large.
-
I've been into Levi's Skateboarding pants/jeans for a minute now and I really like them. They are confortable and have some stretch but at the same time they feel sturdy enough to endure through the abuse. My favourite so far is the 504's but I'm thinking about maybe getting the 501 or the Carpenter pants next.
I also found this new brand the other day called "19.91".
I think they are scandinavian and they make skateboarding jeans. The pants look simple with cool details which is a win win situation. Might try to get some in the future.

Everyone saying Levi's is correct. It's basically all about finding which fit number you like. I just check their website every once and awhile and you can usually score a pair on super clearance and they send out free shipping coupons all the time if you're on one of their mailing lists. I've never paid more than $25 for a pair of jeans that I know I'll have for a decent amount of time.
-
There are people who don't wear jeans everyday? Just go to a thrift store and buy some 8 dollar jeans that kinda fit
-
Back in my days of wearing nuthuggers, Volcom had a jean out and they we're perfect. They felt like worn in denim immediately but had so much stretch in them it was great, wore those things till the ass wore through and them kept them going still. first pair of jeans to come with a shoelace belt too
-
Blind jeans FTW, or 541 Levi's. The athletic fit has done stretch going on, I'm sure the skate Levi's are better but them shits never go on sale.
-
Uniqlo's ultra stretch jeans are my go to
-
I skate in non-stretch 15 bucks jeans all year, fuck stretch and fuck shorts, gonna buy some chinos soon maybe, it's hot here
-
+1 on the Levi's skate stuff. And the ebay thing.
-
wait, people don't skate in jeans?
admittedly most of my denim is raw these days so most of them joints don't go anywhere near my board but I have some of uniqlos first runs with kaihara and after you break them in the fit is beautiful
-
BDUs/Dickies are all I ever wear. I do own some of the Levi’s 541s (that others mentioned) for work. They are super comfy, but not as comfy as BDUs/Dickies (esp. Dickies flex fabric).
-
head to walmart for cheap wranglers they have chinos jeans cargo pants ect
-

Bought some Altamont A/989 Jeans about 30 minutes ago. Fingers crossed they're what im looking for.
Can you let us know if these pants are true to size? A lot of companies 32 inches are like a 34 to make the customer feel good about themselves in the pants. I think it's called 'vanity sizing' or something. Also let us know how they stretch?
I'm using Levis Commuter 541 with a lot of stretch. They feel comfortable but aren't super durable.

At work right now, but my gf texted me and said they just got delivered. So when I get home ill let you know! She said they look big kind of big.. Im between a 32-34 usually but went with the 34 bc I would rather them be big than small, but hoping this "vanity sizing" doesn't bump them up to 36's or something. We'll see...
-
Too big. Dammit. That's what I get for ordering pants online. 32 will be perfect I think, the sizing does run a little big. Pants feel nice and not stiff though, wish they fit.
Has anyone gone through the return process through skatewarehouse and know how long it takes?
